This video was shot a month ago (!) - it's taken me this long to edit/process it due to my eye situation (referred to in video), which also explains the somewhat rough video editing. Thank you for your patience. Please check the DESCRIPTION for more relevant info!
Dude, she also has NO ads. She gets no revenue from youtube. Demonitized. Her videos are sincere and thoughtful... IDK for sure, but I think she might have been a teacher.
I never was a fully-trained professional teacher; I only occasionally stepped in as what's called a "supply" teacher here to fill an urgent short-term gap (usually language teaching). I think I mention in various videos jobs I've had (true to form, I've never stuck to one thing 😁 - I like variety).
Can't describe how cool it is to see someone who's from an older generation be into gaming, collecting and electronics. My grandparents can barely figure out how to take a picture with their phones. This is great, keep it up
I’ve always been an avid gamer especially Nintendo games but never even thought about getting collecting physical copy and special editions but you’ve inspired me to start, I’d like to walk around my home with reminders of things that make me happy 😊
I recommend you put most of them in a playin bin so dust can’t get on them because once you get a lot of stuff you have to dust and clean a lot of stuff.. I realize you like you like to see your collection but just remember what I said it will save u a lot of trouble.
Hoping your eyes are doing better! You're quite humble, with the number of games you have you're definitely a true collector and an expert of those platforms
Already the thumbnail made my heart melt. You are such an incredibly sweet person, it's always a pleasure to hear from you. Thank you for sharing your passion with us and stay awesome!!
This was a delightful video! I feel not many people tackle the research aspect of collecting. Very excited for this series, take your time and have a good day!
Everytime you sit down to talk to us, I love it. I lost my grandmother this year and I greatly miss hearing her just sit down and talk to me about her interests and collections. She didn't play video games but she collected other things. It made her happy and I was always happy to hear about it. So this really feels great. Thank you.
Hey, just wanted to say, your videos are so so calming and amazing to listen to/watch while doing something, like gaming, or drawing…! I suffer from an anxiety disorder and sometimes it really gets bad with episodes of days and days of overthinking. Your videos are a great way to help me ground and focus on something else! So i just really wanted to let you know I really enjoy & appreciate your content!! Also, Disgaea is one of my favorite series as well!
In addition to strategy guides, I would also add that video game art books are really great to have as well. Really gives an in-depth sneak peek into development and how much hard work the staff put into their games for our enjoyment.
Yes, I sometimes eye those up ... But being realistic, my collecting budget is already stretched like chewing gum 😅 and I had to draw a line in the sand!
Thank you for sharing with us! I definitely feel like a Gamer collector too. I really appreciate your videos- since becoming an adult, working and pursuing other goals, gaming has mostly gone on the back burner for me. But recently your videos inspired me and reminded me how special games can be.
I usually dont really comment You-Tube videos, but after discovering your video talking about how you got in to Games i just fell in Love with your channel. So i just felt the need to say thank you for the amazing content you produce and i wish you the best of luck in your live. In best regards from Germany.
I've been collecting since I was young in late elementary, I'm 31 now and still collect but how I do and what I collect has been very refined over the years and I still love it so much. I've always been a collector second and player first though. No investments for me. Thank you for sharing and I hope your eye condition improves so you can get back to gaming.
I always come back to your videos. Apart from being interesting and really well made, I find them very comforting for some reason. Thank you for uploading!
Lovely video! Lost a large part of my collection in a flood and I've been trying to rebuild, but due to all the reasons who mentioned, it's been very difficult. Love to see the passion
Hi Michelle, I'm really sorry a flood destroyed so much of your collection. As to plushies and figurines - I really don't want to show them in one video. I much prefer integrating them individually into a video when the context is right. That's just my approach, it feels more organic to me.
I finally have money to buy more stuff but I have less space than growing up, kinda ironic. I really miss Blockbuster and other rental places, they had killer deals for used games in good condition or for old stock collectors editions. Stay well and healthy.
Because of the way my parents and grandparents feel towards video games, I'm frankly suffering whiplash to see someone like yourself speaking the positives of them. Best whiplash I've ever received.
I am so thankful to have found your channel. I have rekindled my gaming hobby looking for solace through trauma and hearing your story really resonates with me. On top of that your content is very good.
As someone who has gotten into game collecting and has become a part of game collecting communities, I feel like I've come to understand why the appeal exists. There's just the joy about realising that all these games you've been interested in for years that you thought you'd never experience first-hand are closer than they seem. The thrill of collecting for the games you love and everything surrounding them is gratifying and also eye-opening. Whether you're going for a full set, your favourite series, or just games that catch your attention, there's that intrinsic feeling of discovery that keeps you, or at least me, going.
Well said, Britta! I remember my joy when I tracked down a copy of Metroid Prime: Trilogy for the Wii at a reasonable price. “Beach combing” was a beautiful way to put it 🤗 🐚
Oh u turned the comments on! Love your videos I’ve been watching you for years u remind me of my grandma. I was going through a rough time and I would listen to your videos while I slept at night because your voice brought me comfort
I love your collector classifications. I’ve always had a hard time classifying myself as a collector because I sometimes compare myself to people who go to conventions and snatch up a plethora of valuable games or who go for complete collections of a particular console. Personally I like to curate games for myself that I absolutely love or are part of a series I enjoy, or games I read about that sound like something I’d like to play. For example, I’m a newcomer to JRPGs and in 2019, I went to a convention and picked up a whole bunch of classic JRPGs that sounded interesting. I’m slowly working through them and I’m glad I picked them up at the time because some of them are too rich for me at this point. Haha! Side note, I thought that Cyri figure looked like you (I’m viewing this video on my phone) and didn’t realize it was Cyri until you highlighted it. I’m looking forward to more videos in this series. I hope you are doing well.
The ultimate compliment! You look like Ciri! 😂 Ha, I wish. 😎 I tried to keep the classification simple & straightforward, while still remaining meaningful enough that people could find their own niche within.
I'm so sorry to hear that your eye has been bothering you. Hope you feel better soon! Really enjoyed this video (and your assistant) and I really look forward to your upcoming videos on the topic.
Nice to see you back. Lots of good tips and information here. I got lucky with my collecting and did the majority of "retro" collecting between 2008-2012 when prices were sane.
I think art books could be another great thing to collect. I’m not likely to revisit a game I have already completed, however, I could see myself picking up an art book from the shelf and flipping through it.
Interesting topic choice! I do enjoy seeing the various games and consoles in your collection. I'm actually a bit of an otome collector, both on the Vita and on the Switch. Also, excellent choice of background music! 😉
As a 51 year old gamer ive been collecting and gaming since my late teens back in 80s.Its always great to see gamers older than myself,im in quite a few facebook groups and i know a few male and female gamers in their 70s,80s who are just as passionate as me about our fantastic hobby.Recently i have been sort of worrying about what happens to my collection once im gone as i do have some serious health issues that will probably shorten my life ,but im staying positive,as long as we`re still here we should enjoy life and if video gaming makes you happy then go for it.Great video again, thanks.
Thank you so much for your insights. It is delightful watching your videos. I collect Nintendo handheld devices, and each finding is a joy. Last month, in particular, I scored some gems. Also collecting 3DS and Switch games (very specific genres).
I just stumbled upon your videos on a whim, and I am so glad I decided to watch. You are such an eloquent speaker, you have a beautifully structured way of speaking that’s very soothing. You’re an amazing lady and a bright spot on an otherwise oversaturated website. Wish you nothing but the absolute best! (Also, Owlboy is a beautifully crafted game, glad it was a platformer that caught your attention.)
As I’m almost out of school I’m wanting to start collecting more especially more Nintendo games as that’s I’ve grown up on! The only issue for me is my 2ds broke a few months ago so my first objective Is getting a new one! 😭This was a really nice watch! 😊
A good way to get into collecting in this current age is first testing the waters with your interest. More specifically, purchase a the digital copy on sale of a game you are interested in, but not quite sure you want to collect. If you enjoy your experience with said game, then go ahead with the purchase of a physical copy. If it is a series/franchise, do essentially the same thing. But by that point, if you have already done what I suggested, then you will likely know if you are willing to invest however much money into said line of games in the series/franchise. This method of caution allowed me in the recent decade to determine where my collecting priorities take precedent.
Nice, I'm looking forward to watching this series! Not really something for the beginning collector, but one important thing I've had to do throughout my years of collecting is periodically reassess and cull my collection as needed. Sometimes you will find bulk lots that are good deals but come with extra games you might not necessarily be as interested in or sometimes you just find that you lose interest in having some games in the collection over the course of however many years. It can be a tough thought to let games go from your collection, but I think it helps keep that library of games cleaner and more tailored exactly to the individual that it belongs to. Plus you can recoup some of the costs to add more important games in the future.
Such a nice video to find! It is certainly a harder hobby than most assume. I have spent many a days searching or trying to find certain items only to never come to pass either because of price or my location. I really am missing a network of fellow collectors, it sounds like this would be a big boon. If anyone is in the Chicagoland area we should connect! I have gone through many a collection phases and have settled on video games. I have a collection of Amiibo figurines that I have moved on from.
i'd honestly never considered strategy/game guides as a collectible before, but that makes so much sense! i've learned something! also shoutout to how it looked like ciri was holding the mic for most the video, i don't know if it was intentional but it looked great!
Sorry to hear of your health issues but glad to see you making great content. I definitely feel your pain with the Tomb Raider controls - once experienced, never forgotten!
Wow, I forgot all about those little critters from Owlboy. He's so cute! A wonderful addition to the crew~ Another well produced video that was a pleasure to watch as always. Really hope your eye situation gets better soon, love! ❤
I'm more of a game hoarder. I tend to buy more than I can play in my lifetime. I try to get them from digital or physical discounts but I like a variety to fit my mood.
this is absolutely incredible, i've been a subscriber since you've only had around 700 subscribers with one of your first viral videos, and to now see that you've literally grown to having exactly a QUARTER OF A MILLION subscribers!!!! Like congratulations!!!! you have done what the majority of youtubers have not been able to do, which is growing your channel past 100k subs, which only the very small minority manage to actually accomplish!! you've found your niche, and you now have a very powerful "voice" as your reach/influence is quite large, i'm so excited to see what you'll be doing with such a large audience, you've been so inspiring to see grow as you upload each new video and seeing you reach all these milestones in subscribers and view count!! i really hope that you've come to realize how amazing all of this is, and hope that you'll be able to take advantage of these oppertunities because there are so many things you can do now and also the support from you hundreds of thousands of subscribers!! consider monitizing your channel even further with options like patreon and other outlets to recieve donations and those types of things, because us, your fans, will gladly support you!!! that'll be extra money to purcahse even more awesome games, being able to get systems, rare/limited editions that youv'e always dreamed of, and also rare games that you've always wanted!! also just any crazy awesome things that you'd love to have haha. this is WAY better than someone like you collecting boring things like coins, stamps, etc, you being able to find the treasure trove that is game collecting is so much more fulfilling (getting to experience experiences in story with each game is a gift like watching movies and reading books, people that choose to collect stamps and little action figures miss out big time lol) anyways, just wanted to leave my comment of support and appreciation as i am excited to see where you'll go from here =)
Thank you Dom, especially for being around since the "tiny channel" days - I do appreciate the support. I shall carry on doing exactly what I have always done. 😊 My channel is not monetized and that will remain so. It's about the enjoyment that gaming brings us. I very very occasionally accept a special item/collectible from trusted sources, where I feel it will fit into my video approach; that's all.
Can't wait for the glorious day you publish a video on Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness. All the best wishes to you. I hope your eye situation gets better soon!
That was a lovely video! As a slight addition, I would also add looking into how to take care of ones collection. This is especially important for older products such as the Gameboy/DS line of products. Whether it's older game cartridges, plush toys or figures that have seen a few years of dust, or even strategy guides who's pages might be starting to yellow with age. Taking care of one's collection can remind oneself of the journey they've been on in collecting said collection, and make one think of the next piece to add to the hoard!
Yes, good point - quite a few people have mentioned this topic. I'm probably not the best guide for that but it's definitely something we can all talk about and share tips.
I can’t wait for the next video in this series. What’s stopping me from collecting more is space. But I have a bit of a collection from just buying games as a hobby.
Space is indeed a huge issue - I'm now coming up against that. It was something I had never thought about when I started collecting! Maybe something I should mention in a future video. 😃 The bad news is: I have now had 3 video shoots for a new Collecting video (PS3) .. and ... frustratingly, they all turned out not what I had hoped and I decided to can them. 😒 I'll have one more go, please keep fingers crossed! Thank you for your patience.
@@Food4Dogs fingers crossed. I have a lot of the consoles you mentioned you had expertise (DS, 3DS, PS3, PS4, PS5, PSVita). While watching your video I decided that I wanted to collect all the Pokémon games (which I have a lot of them already but for the old stuff I don’t have the original packaging :/)
Amazing introduction! I’m a bit late to it (been on a true crime binge). Definitely have come close to the fomo as well, it’s certainly a thing that heightens with social media.
I always tremendously enjoy your videos, especially the ones about collecting! I mainly collect Xbox games/merch as well as all things Star Trek related but I also still have all of my old Nintendo consoles and games from my childhood. Collecting in general is a great hobby, I definitely enjoy all of my stuff. 😄 Also, I debate with friends all the time about the pros of physical copies, I have one particular friend that doesn’t except that I buy games on disc when available, she’s hellbent on digital content and Ubisoft’s recent moves to remove whole games from stores have proven me right. If you get a physical copy you actually own it, it’s not infallible of course but still superior in many ways I think. I use the game pass a lot on both pc and Xbox but that’s a subscription service, so that’s different but I think if you buy 60€ for a game digitally and there’s a chance it will be completely unplayable one day, that’s really bad.
GREAT VIDEO!!! I just found your channel now, and I am finding myself just nodding over and over again as I am watching your great videos!! Thank you for sharing!! --Nick
love watching your videos - so calming and warming, was feeling kinda bummed out and seen your video suggested - did the trick, I'm already feeling better.
Omg sorry it's off topic but I just noticed the watchmen comic in the background!! Didn't know you're a fan (I hope you're a fan at least!) I don't think I qualify as a collector but if I ever do, I'm sure I'll be the beach-comb collector you described after the investment collector! Looking forward to the rest of this series
@@Food4Dogs lol I feel the same way about most comics but a few like watchmen are definitely worth your time. I hope you enjoy it once you get down to reading it!!
Thank you for all the wonderful videos. I have been collecting video game for the last 20 years and I enjoyed every single one. I have a total of 8 systems and 400 games.
I'm utterly thrilled to see you start this series. Given how passionate you are about the topic, I'm positive that even non-collectors like myself will be as captivated as I already am. I'm personally excited to learn about it regardless, even if I never put it to use myself! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and excitement, as always, Miss Britta ❤
Oh, this is so exciting! First of all, any new video from you is already a treat in itself, but as a video game collector I can't think of any other avenue you could have taken that appeals to me more than a series where we get to see your collection and also listen to your eloquent, earnest and insightful thoughts on collecting in general. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us. 🙂
Have you been able to get a PS5 yet or is that a system that isn't on the table to buy? Another amazing share of the growth of your collection. Have a wonderful time until the next time we see you! Almost done binging your videos. Haha.
I just love your videos, your passion when you talk about video games. I hope you can continue your hobby/passion for a long time and i hope for more videos like these in the future!
Recently I've really wanted to start collecting for the Nintendo DS/3DS and PS2. I think what halts me in my tracks is that I don't know where to start. I still have my collection from when I was a teenager/young adult and the games I've been able to find that always interested me and I couldn't get my hands on at the time (like Corpse Party and Fatal Frame games), so I have my "favorites" for the most part. Anything I'd be collecting moving forward I would also be experiencing for the first time, which makes choosing a starting point difficult, especially with a system like the (3)DS that has so many titles I find it hard to research. This video really helped me get some confidence! I think collecting my genre is a very good tactic. I am a big horror fan but also love cute casual games like Cooking Mama. And of course since I've started following you, I've gotten interested in JRPGs in a way I haven't been since FF10. Also I ADORE strategy guides and might start keeping an eye out for those, as well. In the future of this series I would really love to hear suggestions for websites that are good for researching games, which it sounds like you are already planning to get to. Obviously you can find list after list on wikipedia, but scrolling through a ton of titles where a big portion are not so great "shovel-ware" like the (3)DS had can make one feel like their eyes will glaze over, and sometimes I feel like I might be missing some great gems because the title doesn't conjure an idea of what the game may be. I know I got to this video a bit late (I've been in the process of moving for the last month) but I'm so excited to watch these videos!
Hi Marie, thank you, and I'm glad you found my video helpful. I'm sorry I haven't so far got around to doing any more in the series (due to some protracted health issue), but I really want to carry on. Websites for researching games ... that's a difficult one. As you say, many are huge lists which are important for *reference*, but not so good for the practical side of collecting. I would say the most helpful medium is probably ... TH-cam! Yea, sounds weird, but there are really good collectors out there who are serious about what they do and present thoughtful info and personal insights. For example, SuperDerek RPG is a great collector and presenter (probably not exactly the specific area in games you're looking for, but always worth checking his reviews for his Game Collection). Another one is Pete Dorr - I always learn a lot from watching him talk about games. I think you've made already a great decision narrowing down your collecting by genre/type of games and platforms. The rest is often ... just following your nose. 😎 Not being afraid to take the plunge. Being a collector means learning to live with 'bad' decisions. Which might, in years to come, turn out not so "bad" after all! Good luck!
Watching this was a delight, but the part on strategy guides hit me extra hard. I happen to love guides like this, and honestly I think my start for love of these came from the old SNES game, Earthbound. It came with the guide when it released in stores and it was wonderfully colorful, with "fake" news paper articles and travel guides. The fandom made a guide in the same vein for Mother 3. Thank you for not only the video, but for getting me to revisit those wonderful memories
Hello, thanks for the new video! I live in US and collect Japan imports for PS2/3/Vita/4/5, NDS/3DS/Switch. What you have said in the video totally makes sense and are things what I am doing and looking into doing. I also collect strategy guides, OST, doujinshi, doujin music CD. My total item count is now over 1000 and I really look forward to seeing more videos from your channel.
This video has been a great nice surprise: very well explained, resumed, respectful, covering a lot of important topics... Only part I could feel missing was the topic of storing, cleaning, etc a collection, but taking into account this is just 30mins long introduction it's been astonishing, congrats on it. I hope your eye situation gets better.
I was pleasantly surprised to find your video on my home page. I’m inspired to start collecting Switch games. I’m also thinking about maybe for the PS4. It’s great to see you again!!
Oh man! What a wonderful video! I’m so happy you mentioned patience!! It took me a long time to appreciate how important it is to be patient as a collector. Sometimes you can save so much money if you’re willing to wait it out when it comes to that special game or book. Awesome video! Thank you for posting!
Another great video! When I started watching this, I thought, "well, I'm not really a collector, but this seems interesting". I never considered myself one because I never really set out to be and I don't have a very expansive collection of games, but there are a couple of series and games that I really love and have gone out of my way to buy physical copies and merchandise for over the years. Watching this, it suddenly clicked with me that actually, I could be considered a collector, even if it's within a small niche! As you say, it's probably useful to have a narrow scope sometimes to avoid it becoming overwhelming. Hoping your eye situation will improve soon.
Thanks for talking about your experience. I was overflowed with nostalgia when you mentionned Disgaea : i started with Phantom Brave, one of the first games to be released on blu-ray, i had to buy a new specific PS2 i had no idea it existed! This beautiful game took me on the tactical rpg train and i proceded to get the entire NipponIchi Software catalogue in the following years lol I hope your eye issue will be solved. I like this vidéo's format, but i think you like gaming or reading better lol
Great video, i'm looking forward to this series! I've been gaming since I was little and have held onto/re-acquired many games that mean a lot to me, but I've only just recently started actively collecting! My biggest collection at the moment is Switch- I currently have all of the Visual Novel/VN Hybrids that received a physical switch release and have English support! My other focus is JRPGs. My second biggest collections are Vita and DS/3DS, but they are much smaller in comparison! I agree with all the points you've brought up, and I've been burned lately by lack of patience and just a little bit of FOMO. It's very easy to get a little too sucked into it!
Great video, very informative! Nice choice of background music too. I hope that means you enjoyed the game(s), even though the internet really doesn't like when people express their enjoyment of that particular game. It is one of my favourites!
Oh, I know, I always think there's a bit of herd mentality in bashing on FF XIII. But I actually see a slow turning around, more people appreciating it now.
I'm the 2nd collector. I grew up in a time where video games were physical, box PC games, cartridges, discs. I love to discover games & try out new games seeing if I like them or not. The ones I do I keep & plan on sharing with others (when my time comes/if I can't play them anymore). I don't need any figures, or other items, I just want the games. I also collect Switch & PS4 games, trying new games on Switch & if I like them (& they have a PS4 version), I'll post gameplays of the PS4 version on my channel. I used to collect & use strategy guides. I don't anymore, but it was fun. I even got one for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 from Half Price Books, & someone left some pages of story, possibly a fan fiction, in it. It was the strangest thing. I always thought the people who ran that store would check every page of the guides to make sure nothing like that would happen & that it wasn't dirty or torn up.
I just found your channel and I just wanted to thank you for the great content! I enjoy collecting video games very much, so thank you for your insightful opinions and ideas!
@@Food4Dogs Thank you for your reply. I love your content. It's so refreshing to see someone like you doing this because that's your passion rather than those doing it for ad revenue
Britta this is an inspirational and very helpful video for beginners in this hobby. I've been collecting for quite a few years and you cover a lot of the aspects that I wasn't aware of at the beginning. Myself, I concentrate on JRPGs and shmups, but also have a real dedication to anything related to the Horizon games. I will soon be setting up my first dedicated games room for my collection and I'll be sure to send you pictures when it's done! :)
yes to the FOMO. i struggle to keep myself in check. i'm not really a collector, i just buy games to play them BUT... i get heavily discouraged whenever i purchase a game and find that it's not the entire package, and now i have to sift through 900+ different dlc's ( looking at you koei tecmo ). so, i already know that if i decide to start an actual collection, i'd go insane from all of the little stuff. i will go and buy little plushes and stuff of my favorite games though!
I prefer to millions of times watch your channel than an exuberant girl who doesn't know anything about games. She's a real gamer who enjoys experiences ❤ you deserve more attention and more subscribers
This video was shot a month ago (!) - it's taken me this long to edit/process it due to my eye situation (referred to in video), which also explains the somewhat rough video editing. Thank you for your patience.

Welcome back! Glad to see you're doing well still.
Oh man, seeing the SMT Devil Survivor case on the table really has me itching to play it again. It's such a good game.

It’s wonderful to have you back, Food4Dogs!
…And The Cerobi Steppe from FFXII is one of my very favorite Final Fantasy songs.
Ha! That track was tricky to audio adjust 😄 - I had to call on PoodlePa help as his hearing is still better.
The soundtrack for XIII is just amazing.
Love the way you've summarized collecting video games in this video. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Thank you for your content. I'm really loving it. I hope you feel better :)
Welcome.
Discovery! We love it in games and we love it when finding and collecting games. 😀
Well said, Britta! I remember my joy when I tracked down a copy of Metroid Prime: Trilogy for the Wii at a reasonable price. “Beach combing” was a beautiful way to put it 🤗 🐚
I only have a digital copy of that game! 😄
I've been collecting videogame art-books for years now and I can relate to almost every topic credited here. Can't wait for the next videos!
Nice Final Fantasy XIII music in the background. I always like such videos.
Thank you.
Oh u turned the comments on! Love your videos I’ve been watching you for years u remind me of my grandma. I was going through a rough time and I would listen to your videos while I slept at night because your voice brought me comfort
Hi Melissa,
comments have been back on for well over a year now 😀 - welcome back.
Ha, I wish. 😎
I tried to keep the classification simple & straightforward, while still remaining meaningful enough that people could find their own niche within.
Yes - timing and a bit of luck are so important!
@@Food4Dogs You are so right!
I think art books could be another great thing to collect. I’m not likely to revisit a game I have already completed, however, I could see myself picking up an art book from the shelf and flipping through it.
Ha, you're talking to the woman who is obsessive about art books (as my unboxing videos demonstrate!).
Yea, definitely - art books are great.
I thoroughly enjoy your wholesome enthusiasm for collecting.
Interesting topic choice! I do enjoy seeing the various games and consoles in your collection. I'm actually a bit of an otome collector, both on the Vita and on the Switch.
Also, excellent choice of background music! 😉
So sorry to hear about your eye situation. Hoping it’s recovering well. Thank you for sharing your advice
I was so happy to see you cover this topic Greta! Great video!!
Take good care
You are an inspiration to me! I hope I never lose my love of video gaming.
That is a very important point about making provision for what happens with your collection - we talk about that here at home too.
Just glad to see you still posting videos, you are one of my favorite TH-camrs and glad to see you covering an interesting topic!
Thank you so much for your insights. It is delightful watching your videos. I collect Nintendo handheld devices, and each finding is a joy. Last month, in particular, I scored some gems. Also collecting 3DS and Switch games (very specific genres).
That sounds excellent - you know what you're doing. Going for specific genres really makes sense.
Good luck finding/getting a new handheld - maybe go for a 2DSXL or a 3DS?
A good way to get into collecting in this current age is first testing the waters with your interest. More specifically, purchase a the digital copy on sale of a game you are interested in, but not quite sure you want to collect. If you enjoy your experience with said game, then go ahead with the purchase of a physical copy.
If it is a series/franchise, do essentially the same thing. But by that point, if you have already done what I suggested, then you will likely know if you are willing to invest however much money into said line of games in the series/franchise.
This method of caution allowed me in the recent decade to determine where my collecting priorities take precedent.
Was just thinking about you yesterday and missing your vids. Lovely to see a new video pop up on my subs today!
That's very good advice, coming from practical experience.
Of course I have a story I will share, about one of those bulk lots 😄
Such a nice video to find! It is certainly a harder hobby than most assume. I have spent many a days searching or trying to find certain items only to never come to pass either because of price or my location. I really am missing a network of fellow collectors, it sounds like this would be a big boon. If anyone is in the Chicagoland area we should connect! I have gone through many a collection phases and have settled on video games. I have a collection of Amiibo figurines that I have moved on from.
This was lovely 🥰 I only have one rule of thumb in game collecting and that’s I “only collect games, that I want to play”
Best rule, hands down!
i'd honestly never considered strategy/game guides as a collectible before, but that makes so much sense! i've learned something!
also shoutout to how it looked like ciri was holding the mic for most the video, i don't know if it was intentional but it looked great!
Errmmm ... it wasn't originally intentional, but when I spotted it when lining up the camera, I simply couldn't resist. 😂
Sorry to hear of your health issues but glad to see you making great content. I definitely feel your pain with the Tomb Raider controls - once experienced, never forgotten!
What a pleasant surprise to be greeted by FF13 music! Loved that game!
This is so wholesome! I'm glad I discovered your channel. You're so cooool haha
Wow, I forgot all about those little critters from Owlboy. He's so cute! A wonderful addition to the crew~
Another well produced video that was a pleasure to watch as always. Really hope your eye situation gets better soon, love! ❤
My friend shared this video on his Facebook page, awesome channel!!!
I'm more of a game hoarder. I tend to buy more than I can play in my lifetime. I try to get them from digital or physical discounts but I like a variety to fit my mood.
Tbh, a collector is also usually a bit of a hoarder! 😁
The two categories do overlap quite a bit IMHO. 😎
Really insightful video. As a long time collector, every single point you make, i agree. This is going to be a wonderful series.
Thank you.
this is absolutely incredible, i've been a subscriber since you've only had around 700 subscribers with one of your first viral videos, and to now see that you've literally grown to having exactly a QUARTER OF A MILLION subscribers!!!!
My channel is not monetized and that will remain so. It's about the enjoyment that gaming brings us.
I very very occasionally accept a special item/collectible from trusted sources, where I feel it will fit into my video approach; that's all.
Found your vids today, love em and the incredibly comfy vibe
The bad news is: I have now had 3 video shoots for a new Collecting video (PS3) .. and ... frustratingly, they all turned out not what I had hoped and I decided to can them. 😒
I'll have one more go, please keep fingers crossed!
@@DominicanStud101 That is a lofty goal, all Pokemon games! I just look at some of the prices and shudder ...
Also, I debate with friends all the time about the pros of physical copies, I have one particular friend that doesn’t except that I buy games on disc when available, she’s hellbent on digital content and Ubisoft’s recent moves to remove whole games from stores have proven me right.
--Nick
You make and brighten my day! Very nice to see you back. 💚🎮
love watching your videos - so calming and warming, was feeling kinda bummed out and seen your video suggested - did the trick, I'm already feeling better.
Good to hear. 🤗
Omg sorry it's off topic but I just noticed the watchmen comic in the background!! Didn't know you're a fan (I hope you're a fan at least!)
I don't think I qualify as a collector but if I ever do, I'm sure I'll be the beach-comb collector you described after the investment collector! Looking forward to the rest of this series
I haven't read it yet. 😀
I don't normally read western graphic novels, but did feel the need to acquaint myself with one of the acknowledged classics.
@@Food4Dogs lol I feel the same way about most comics but a few like watchmen are definitely worth your time. I hope you enjoy it once you get down to reading it!!
Really happy to see another video❤️! I hope u get better soon!
Omg so happy to see a video from you today 💜 gonna save it to watch later when I'm doing my cardio session
This is a very detailed concise & wise summation of game collecting. It actually reinvigorates my collector spirit
Thank you for all the wonderful videos. I have been collecting video game for the last 20 years and I enjoyed every single one. I have a total of 8 systems and 400 games.
Wonderful! 👍
Great Video! Hopefully your eye gets better soon, and can't wait to watch the rest of the videos.
Love your collection, I've fell in love with a few niche series by watching you're videos!
That's nice to hear 😃 thank you, Joseph.
I hope your eyes get better! You always came across as a lovely person so it’s a shame to hear bad news.
Have you been able to get a PS5 yet or is that a system that isn't on the table to buy? Another amazing share of the growth of your collection. Have a wonderful time until the next time we see you! Almost done binging your videos. Haha.
Look the video up from the Xbox impression video where she answers your question.
@@mattsvanengelenburg8050 Or you could just be less critical and answer if you know the answer. Thank you.
@@resistakill-talesofgracesf she said that there is no purpose to buy a expensive console.
@@mattsvanengelenburg8050 Thank you.
No, I'm not looking at even attempting to buy a PS5 for the time being.
I just love your videos, your passion when you talk about video games. I hope you can continue your hobby/passion for a long time and i hope for more videos like these in the future!
I love your stuff! It’s fun to learn more about the Vita and rpgs
Good luck!
That ciri figure looks absolutely outstanding.
Awesome video! I was like "Holy cow!" when you said that you have 450 Vita games! I love the Vita, especially its JRPGs!
Thank you, it's good to have feedback and know what people are interested in.
My total item count is now over 1000 and I really look forward to seeing more videos from your channel.
tallpoppy, you sound like you know what you're doing and I applaud you!
Thanks, Teri.
Oh man! What a wonderful video! I’m so happy you mentioned patience!! It took me a long time to appreciate how important it is to be patient as a collector. Sometimes you can save so much money if you’re willing to wait it out when it comes to that special game or book.
Awesome video! Thank you for posting!
This lady is SOOO cool imo
I’m so sorry to hear your eye troubles continuing. This was a truly wonderful video filled with great tips for collectors. Thank you so much!
Thank you, that's great feedback
Thanks for talking about your experience. I was overflowed with nostalgia when you mentionned Disgaea : i started with Phantom Brave, one of the first games to be released on blu-ray, i had to buy a new specific PS2 i had no idea it existed! This beautiful game took me on the tactical rpg train and i proceded to get the entire NipponIchi Software catalogue in the following years lol
I hope your eye issue will be solved.
Hi Random 😀 and welcome.
When I retire this is what I want to do. Playing games 24/7 is the goal. Unfortunately I just can't afford it at the moment
I understand. But honestly, once you retire ... you're ready to go! 😊
I'm really excited for you, that'll be grand to see some photos. 😊
yes to the FOMO. i struggle to keep myself in check.
i'm not really a collector, i just buy games to play them BUT... i get heavily discouraged whenever i purchase a game and find that it's not the entire package, and now i have to sift through 900+ different dlc's ( looking at you koei tecmo ). so, i already know that if i decide to start an actual collection, i'd go insane from all of the little stuff.
i will go and buy little plushes and stuff of my favorite games though!
I prefer to millions of times watch your channel than an exuberant girl who doesn't know anything about games. She's a real gamer who enjoys experiences ❤ you deserve more attention and more subscribers
That's such a nice thing to say, thank you very much.
I just started trying to collect games! ❤️ it’s much more fun than I thought! :)
Good to hear! Keep on enjoying it. 👍
