I remember watching this last year. Some great take offs on here. 6V92TA's, 8V92TA's, and 8V71N's great stuff man. I hope some of these buses are still running.
The 8V71N is the oldest engine in the trio of engines that were made available for the A3 and C3 series. Its run in the C3 was less, since that series was introduced in 1988 and that I think the 8V71N was dropped after 1989.
If I were to have visited downtown Portland (OR) and outlying areas (such as Lloyd Center) in the mid 1980's, then the Greyhound MCI 9's and A3's with their 8V71N engines would've been all the rage.
RWCA A These two units are the 96/102C3 models while one unit is just the 102C3. There are no MC-9 units in this video, but thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed them!
The MCI 102C3 with the 8V92 engine is from either the late-80s' or the early-90s; the 102/96C3 models with the 6V92 & 8V71N are not--they're from the mid to late-80's...
Love the sound of those Detroit diesels, definitely best engines ever made.

That 102C3 with the 8V92TA (613) had a street exhaust, since all the smoke spewed out from the bottom.

Nice, great to see motorcoaches on the event shuttle!
The 8V92TA on #613 sounded like it was "ticking."
2 stroke sound is music
613 sure sounds jacked up.
I wish you could be able to actually ride on these rare coaches.
It's a "C". It has composite panels. "A"s have aluminum panels.
MC9 love it!

the one with the death tick you say, it just has a hole in the muffler or manifold nothing to major
CrownKing True, some buses including the transits were like that...
yeah this bus can run another 20 to 50 yrs
So this is downtown Detroit.
Idk that c3 sounds like a 8v71 but that bitch gave me life!!!
I'd think #4906 is also a A3/C3 series.
Detroit death tick much?
were theres buses from the late 80s or the early 90s?
