Thank You Sir for posting. Most of the other posts use the plug in light bulb which is fairly basic. I unscrewed the barrel thinking the bulb holder would come out the top but was unsuccessful. searched yt and finally found yours and quickly realized it had to go out the back. of course the most expensive duracell batteries leaked again 3 years before their eos date (and ya the batteries were out of the same package with the same eos date)...amazing how they have everyone fooled they have the best batteries (I guess expensive advertising pays off)... Thanks again, you the man.....

Mine wasn't working. I placed a second battery behind the first one and pushed the bulb assembly forward. Now it works. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.

I would recommend spraying small amount of wd40 into light to keep the bulb free moving

Hi Bill, I had a similar issue with my LED Maglite, however what worked for me is taking out the LED lightbulb (as you described) but then I sprayed lots of electrical cleaner into it, you know, the kind that you use for spark plugs and electrical contacts. Let that soak for 10 minutes and then I used a bicycle pump (I‘m Dutch and I don’t have a compressor, but I DO have a bicycle 😂) to blow any residual cleaning fluid out. And guess what: it worked again. Might wanna try that first before ordering new parts in case another LED Maglite stops working. Greetings from ‚U-rup.‘ 😃

Thank you for the video. I was also having a problem with mine, and after you pointed out that the bulb assembly is supposed to move, I saw exactly what the problem was. Freed the assembly with your pen trick, and voila, now she's'a'pump. Thanks for your help.

Thanks! Once the battery was out, I filled the flashlight cylinder vinegar for 30 minutes and scrubbed interior with a copper gun cleaning brush attached to a drill. Perfect.

A couple of years ago a duracell battery got stuck on my AA Mini Maglite, I tried to do everything to take it out, wd-40, strong magnets and even tried to hammer it to see if it would move. I really didn’t care much about it since I had a couple more Maglites, today I found it searching for something else and decided to give it another go, saw your video and gave it a try to push the battery with the LED itself, worked perfectly 😂, assembled the led again and used a dremel to remove the factory flaw that got the battery stuck in the first place. Decided to measure the duracell battery with a vernier scale, duracell just over 14 millimeters and other AA batteries are just below 14 millimeters.

I've carried the mini-mag since long before it was LED. I own a lot of other lights; some fairly pricey. But my EDC is this light and I won't part with it. The reason I came here was to learn how that LED is removed. I am getting a flicker and sometimes it doesn't come on at all. I wanted to look at that little spring that contacts the battery to see if it needed some outward adjustment. Your video showed me what I wanted to know. By the way, you should mention your grease isn't petroleum based. It is silicon and will not adversely affect your rubber gaskets. I use the same stuff for the same reason. Nice blade you have there too. I can't bring myself to carry any of mine.

Thanks Bill, I had no idea how the LED came out of the torch! I tried prying it up, for a few minutes before resorting to TH-cam for any vids of it and luckily I found yours!! So thanks again. Yes, I got a socket and pushed it down and the new Philips 474 Lumens upgrade pushed right up!

I bought a Streamlight Stylus Pro after my Mini Maglite LED bulb died. The stylus pro is such a better flashlight. It's smaller, runs on AAA's, it's brighter, lasts longer, weighs less, and it's the perfect size to fit in the pen pocket on my jacket.
It was also the same price as my mini maglite was when I bought it - $30CDN

Thanks for this video. I love my LED mini maglite too. I used that thing hard as well. I work on a pig farm and it gets used hard. My boss is impressed with how bright it is and It never let me down. One day I was being an idiot and did not have the bezzle on my maglite and I dropped it and it ruined the LED bulb and like you said the bulb dose not like to get tampered. So I looked up on youtube "how to fix a maglite LED" and found this video and I was like "thank god!" I called maglite and they said that they jest needed the model number and what kind of maglite it is. The rebuild kit was $8.50. It is a free replacement however you have to pay shipping and handling. I jest ordered the rebuild kit today and they said it would arrive in 5-7 days. For now I have to use my dads original mini maglite for the farm. Its not as bright but I know that it will work as hard and long as I do.☺ Thanks again for the video it was very helpful.

Where can I find this part? can someone help me ? On my Maglite, I broke the same piece you show in your video, I sent a request for the replacement on the Maglite website. They told me that they don't supply spare parts of the led lamp. Maybe because I'm in Europe. Then they said their European branch will contact me. I think Maglite europa is in Germany. In my opinion either they will never contact me or they will ask me for a replacement amount which is identical to the cost of the new lamp ;-))) poor me.

If you damage it, its your problem.

I use silicone grease on my mini maglight pro because it preserves the seals and lubes them and also lubes the threads. Ive been doing this since i got the light on September 15 2015 and as of feb. 10 2019 (today when this comment is posted) does it get oil on the led yes but it still works. I have droped it in mud salt water . And countless times it has fallen out of my pocket climbing down out of a car at the top of a lift onto concrete. I have beat the shit outa this maglight and she still runs. Its so scratched that it is bare aluminium and you cant even tell its original color. I have literally thrown this light across rooms and at rock walls Is it the brightest light? No is it the best light? Heck no but for around 20 bucks where are you gonna get a light this durable. If you lose an o light your out of 60 to a hundred bucks but these maglights are much cheaper. Id say my mini maglight is the best 20 bucks i have ever spent in my lifetime

I used Remington Gun Oil on mine. Haven't had any problems and it's as smooth as the day I bought it almost 10 years ago. I don't see any swelling or decay of the rubber O-rings. The only wear is, scratches on the casing and the center of the plastic lens cover. I may have wasted my money buying a backup Mini-Maglite that still sits in the original packaging. I may never need it...

WD-40 is absolutely the worst thing for electronics, and most metals. As I’m sure everyone knows... The name WD 40 stands for “water displacement formula 40“ and is meant to be used as a water displacer and cleaner before adding actual lubricant. Kind of look at it as a petroleum base none of operating brake cleaner.
It’s not meant as a lubricant or rust inhibitor. And it will slowly destroy many things because of the petroleum and other products in its contents.
Anything that has petroleum distillate in the formula, will absolutely kick ass on electronics, platings, and especially silicones and other rubbers. It will absolutely eat that shit alive… and Considering there are O-rings in all flashlights… then that’s a really bad thing. It will eat all kinds of plastics and slowly remove necessary chemicals that keep the plastics and polymers stable. That’s why you will see cracks in your plastics, your O-rings will start to shred, and any rubber textured surfaces will start to become sticky over time. Just like the rubber over molding on cordless drills… If you get any type of petroleum distillate on it… Over time it will eat it away and become a sticky buggery mess.
And the “dome“ over the top of the LED can be made from many types of rubberized materials… But anything containing petroleum distillate will work it’s way up under there… Even the tiniest microscopic amount of fluid... because Capillary action can be a real bitch.
There’s nothing wrong with removing the clear dome/sphere that covers the LED. Just look it up and do some research because it’s a meticulous task. I’m lucky enough to have an electronics lab and microscope that I use to “de-dome“ LEDs. This can greatly increase the functionality of a flashlight but should be done by someone who is experienced. The bond wires on the actual die of the LED are much thinner than human hair and can be broken even with a hard breath.

I lost my mag lite now I have to decide to buy old reliable mag lite or check out a streamlight. Whatever I choose it needs to have a holder I can wear on my belt. My pockets are to cluttered and the metal clips never seem to hold good onto my belt. Stuff gets snagged as I squeeze my fat self into tight places

Absolutely useless video. Doesn’t clearly explain how you get the bulb out.
