Twice this past season I encountered some difficulty getting the antenna retracted. I knew not to force it and spent time wiggling it back and forth till I was able to get it back down. Told my wife we were not using again until I figured it out. 5 minutes after watching this video and the antenna raises and rotates almost with out effort. My can of silicon did not have a straw and that would have been much easier. Thanks for sharing.
Wow... night and day difference! I had quit using the antenna because it was binding so bad it felt like something was going to snap. After this maintenance, it glides up and down freely and rotates effortlessly! Thanks for the great video!
Thank you so much for this video, the handle was broken when I bought the RV and I thought I was going to have replace the antenna around $100 then I watched this video seen how you took it apart. I took mine apart and all I needed to do is lube it real well and replaced the handle $7.50 amazon same day delivery wham! Bam fixed. Again Thank You for this very helpful video.
Looks just like the one on my new Keystone Summerland 3030. Sticker says do it twice per season, but I wasn't sure how till now. Very detailed concise instructions. thanks.
We've been at it for 6 years, and it's always nice to learn new things. The RV'er community is so very nice and willing to help/advise those in need. Hope we never stop learning!!! Safe travels everyone! Dave-n-Trish
Never mind, after remove some items that was below the lever or antenna handle I found the missing spring. I could not see the spring for your hand. Thanks again, great video
Great video. Mine has become jammed and when I tried to crank it up I broke the crank handle so I knew I have to go up top and pull the gears which you have shown so expertly. The weird thing is, at the campsites I've been to lately the TV reception on antenna has been as good as it got fully extended so yes I have procrastinated in fixing it ha ha. You have done a great job with this video. Now, how do I go thru the roof of my motorhome from the driver's area to mount a killer set of air horns?
could you use silicon grease on the worm drive gear instead of spray? The spray does not seem to leave much lube afterwards and was thinking the grease would last longer.
This is an old video & now WD-40 have specialist high performance white lithium grease available in spray form and is ideally suited for this application along with lubricating your RV slide out mechanism (the bendix gear).
Don't forget to reinstall plastic plug. If you are going to remove the arm, skip step one and lubricate gear when you have removed the arm. Don't forget to lubricate the pins and all pivot points of the antenna.
It sneers like you didn’t need to disassemble the whole thing if you’re just going to spray it with silicone anyway. The spray probably goes all around in the anyway. Thanks👍🏼☮️
Excellent video. Very useful, directly to the point, no attempted humor, useless banter or any other distractions. Exactly what I needed.
I broke the handle on mine, then thought after 17 years, perhaps it needed some service. Your video proved very helpful.

I am glad my info helped.
The last shot tells me it was nice and toasty in the trailer. Good video, thanks.

Have a 1985 motorhome. Don’t believe the antenna has ever been serviced. I appreciate this video very much.
Thank you for the thorough, well documented explanation. Your video is infinitely more helpful than any written explanation.
Wow. Nice video. It looks very professionally done. The close up shots and the narration are first class.
Question: Could I just take off the plastic plug and spay down on the shaft instead of pulling it all apart?
Very well done, informative, helpful and useful. Great camera work, steady, well lit with good audio. Thank you for sharing.
Very Helpful, I wish all the videos I have seen were like this one. Thank You
Just like an "Army Instructional video". Very informative!
Glad I could be of some help.
Not quite sure how I ended up here but great video. Didn't realise I needed to service the antenna but now I do and now I know how thanks - Leigh
It says to do so right on the crank plate.
Ahhhh, no more wrestling with the ring to adjust the antenna direction. The crank works much better as well. Thanks!
Awesome video! I was able to troubleshoot the prob with my antenna gear thanks to your explanation. Thank you!

So glad it worked out for you, Ron.

Was the plastics plug 1:22 supposed to be left out or was that an oversight?

Thank you for this, I just got an RV with this and it needs attention.
While following your great info video, a spring has fallen out. Tried to get it back in, no luck. Any ideas on what next.?

Grease gathers dirt and will help clog the worm gear.
Great information! I'm traveling around the USA in my 25 foot class A Winnebago Warrior motorhome with my little dog Tinkerbell making videos
Very well done and helpful. Thanks
Thanks TH-cam and you BUG Smacker for your instructional video ,these days you can find out how to do anything on youtube .
Thanks! I need this info. Would WD-40 be OK? Too bad there's not a zerk fitting for grease.
WD-40 Specialist 300g High Performance White Lithium Grease
Thank god for this video!
Great video very helpful thanks

Thanks. Have been wanting to do this, just did not know how.
Very helpful. Thanks!
Nice job. Useful information.
Very Good!!! Great Informative video.. thanks so much.. I can do this!!!
What kind of spray did you us?
Great Video..... Well Done!!
Thanks. Very useful.
Very Helpful to me! Thanks~!
Thanks, good tips
Very helpful video. Its a shame that this task is needed "a couple of times per season' ? I am thinking once annually is what mine will get. ;)
thinking the same thing. its all about how much you use it. we spend about 30 days a year in ours so once a year sounds good.
It sneers like you didn’t need to disassemble the whole thing if you’re just going to spray it with silicone anyway. The spray probably goes all around in the anyway. Thanks👍🏼☮️
couple of times a year seems excessive but definitely once a year
Thanks forgot about this.. That bug was smacked off the antenna..
Bug smacker?!? Is that how that fly ended up on the roof?
You Must Be Kidding Why not design it properly in the first place and it wouldnt need to be pulled apart TWICE a Year
