    That server is designed to run databases, business intelligence/analytics like SAP HANA (it was mentioned in an IBM Redbook [IBM System X catalog] that I read couple of years ago), and Web-centric applications. Data storage, database and Web applications benefit from the use of a cache (can be implemented by using a SSD or a RAM disk) The cache functions as a temporary storage for frequently accessed data. Instead of reading data from the storage pool (usually a slower storage media such as hard disks and tape), it is read from the cache, thereby increasing the performance of the server, the application runs smoothly, lowering the RAM usage (because data is primarily cached in RAM) and the disk read times, also increasing disk reliability.

      @MyPlayHouse  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi +Keith O'Shea
      Lenovo writes: The X6 portfolio delivers large application
      virtualization and decreases infrastructure
      costs and complexity. You can host essential mission-critical applications,
      implement large virtual machines or run
      sizeable in-memory databases without compromise.
      The growth of new applications has ratcheted
      database processing and business analytics to the
      top of the list of prevalent x86 workloads.
      In this : www.lenovo.com/images/products/system-x/pdfs/datasheets/x3850_x6_ds.pdf
      I plan to bring it to it´s knees by setting up 18 3D studio MAX quad core rendering serveres on it next weekend.

      +Keith O'Shea I think that the intended market is probalby NASA, NSA, or a company that wants to run a datacenter in the space of a photocopier

    Hi ! I know, you have X3850 M2 4 cpu server, can you compare it`s perfomance with gen 7 gen 8 hp systems ?
    And did you play with ibm expansion suply, that gets four x3850 units in one cluster ?

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi sergeyyy ghj
      Thank You very much! I am yet yo find a need for four quad CPU servers in a cluster,,, it's not like you get 200% and then 400% performances,,, it might be 160% and 280%,,, you lose a lot,, just going from 2 CPU's to 4 CPU's in a server,, way better with two servers of 2 CPU's.
      Thank you for watching! :-)

    • @коментатор-л4з
      @коментатор-л4з 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IBM says that expansion of x3850 can be use as one cluster with all of shared memory and 16 cpu avaible. So I want to understand how it would looks from userspase processes. Best way is watching all of resource from any physical unit. As for my situation, I dont have problems with units and power and look for 3850 as cheaper alternative of m2 or m3, compared one by one.
