    Elliott is spot on with his Mantra88 comment. It's a stable high performance ski that can make you look really good or really bad depending on your style. Turns on them are initiated underfoot. If your hips and feet are positioned correctly its near impossible not to carve the ski. The tricky part is learning how to smear a turn so you can ski for the whole day.

    I own both the Fisher Ranger and the Volkl mantra and I agree. The Ranger turns right now and the mantra holds onto turn longer.

    When you guys ask ski questions add in more details about where you ski (East/West) and what do you like to do on the mountain (park, powder, trees, carving etc.).

    Elliott, I skied my brother's declivity 103, I think 190 length last year in Kirkwood and heavenly. Spring skiing first 2 days, 24" the second two .
    By comparison, I love my Kore 93 and skied them in similar depths in WV last Jan. Anyway
    They are damp and hold good edge even on spring crust. They have some rebound if you really bend em & release, but more damp than lively. Having said that, they straight railed through 18" mashed taters bumps. Big gs turns all day, easy.
    Obviously less nimble in the trees, but the float was totally adequate but didn't make a huge impression as a float monster.
    On the hard pack, the were easy to make all the turn shapes I needed.
    Very good skis, would recommend for a West coast jack of all trades. Top strength for me was dampness and composure at speed and crud/chop

    You’ve just helped me realise why I was frustrated being put on Volkls vs skis from say, Head (rentals) and will explore the feeling more if I get on Volkls in the future. Would love to hear more about the differences in character across ski brands! Keep on doing what you’re doing, love the content!

    Thanks for increasing my ski knowledge. I bought the 2023 Volkl Revolt 104w 180L last season to be my powder ski with park compatibility and extremely happy w/the results. To my surprise found the ski to be amazing in crud spring 'mashed potato' snow. Ski rips the mashed moguls and surfs the untracked mashed almost as if powder. Plus it carves the groomed flats to the bottom well too. Now that I know Volkl skis really 'bite' later in the turn I understand why the Revolt skis so well in the warm late spring conditions. Have a young friend who loves his 104 Revolt in the corn, whereas I much prefer my Stance 96 for that snow. While certainly skiable, for me the Stance 96 gets hung up in the mashed potatoes.

    I have qst92 and it is a great ski but not a daily driver. For me in;the east it is my soft condition ski and spring. It is good but has some limitation on hardpack.

      @ not a critique by any means just additional info. I enjoy your channel; continue the good work 👍 i just bought a pair of Volkl Kendo 88 177 for a steal i will let you know what i think during the winter. My first impression were very similar to you but i only did 3 runs on it. Will see how it will perform has a daily driver.

      The Kendos (2023 and later) take a while to get used to. It's like learning stick-shift in a way but once you get used to it's rewarding and you do feel like a rockstar on them going faster.. Only issues are that you always need to be doing something with them... you can't just chill and coast as they always want to be turned or driven. Also they are challenging in tight-turns going slow. Bought the Atomic Maverick 88s off-season to compliment them as I can relax more on them. 2 different feeling skis that do similar things! @jerl.980

    • @jerl.980
      @jerl.980 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ayyyyeeee1403 it really depends where you ski/live. For me most of the time ( mont-Tremblant area) it is rock hard so for me a daily driver is a slalom or gs type ski. So a 92mm ski is for after a snow storm or spring other than that they stay on the rack. Can they work on hard snow yes but the tips will start to chatter and it will need too much torque on ankle and knees for the performance they will deliver. It also depends what type of ski you do. I don’t ski trees/glades or bump so that influence my choices. The qst92 has been the best kept secret in that category and a real steel in terms of value and performance. Paid 329$ canadian for mine a couples years ago !!! I would buy them again without hesitation for the conditions they are good in. they are great ski and are aging well so far.

    I just grabbed some 2024 QST 92s as my only ski for this year in the east coast. Super excited based on many many reviews that they would be a great all around ski. I’ve seen a few comments about it’s limitations regarding hardpack, carving etc. Thoughts and comments? I’m advanced intermediate and not ripping and carving at a point that will surpass this ski’s ability, but want to explore the whole mountain a little, but will be mainly on piste day to day. Thanks for any thoughts on this ski!

    PNW skier here. QST 106 in 181cm is current daily driver. Love them! However, teenage son is my skiing buddy and he's liking the bumps. Considering either the QST 92 or 98 as complement to 106. Leaning 92 in 176cm at 5'11 . Thoughts?

      I think that's perfect, gonna talk about it more in my next video tonight, but the only other ski I'd throw in the mix for consideration is that Black Crows Octo for some more variety, but watch the video to hear more in depth on my rationale. But 92's are probably a great move imo.

    Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Question: I bought my wife the mavens. Mounted them on the line. She couldn’t get forward enough so we moved the binding forward one cm and now she rips on them. So how do we get a mount right the first time? I have a pair of nordica unleashed to mount for her and I’m concerned of making the same mistake again

    Hey Elliot! Don't mean to over analyze here but that's how I am- just ordered a new pair of Salomon stance 96s but am now second guessing... should I have gotten the qst 92?? Park City is my "home" mountain (live in san diego) but get out there 20-25 days a season. Already have a great powder ski I love (atomic backland 117) but just wanted to update my daily driver. I mostly stick to groomers when theres not fresh pow but definitely want something I can still hop in the trees with a day or two after it has snowed. I'm 32, athletic, have been skiing for 25+ years, 5'7", 170 lbs. But i've never had two layers of metal in a ski before and am a little nervous... Love your videos, thanks for the help!

    • @RicketySkiReviews
      @RicketySkiReviews  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Bryan,
      I have not yet skied the Stance, so I can't give you my honest opinion, but people that ski the Stance seem to really love it. I know @anthonalpha4118 skis them. I do have a pair that I'm reviewing, but likely you will ski on yours before my review comes out.
      The layers of metal are thinner than you would imagine, on my atomic mavericks their like titanal leaf, when I crashed it exposed the titanal and I was amazed it could just flake away.
      Again I can't speak to a ski I haven't skied on, but just my 2 cents. worst case scenario, you absolutely hate them and sell them on FB marketplace, so I probably wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

    Qst 92 vs 98. How much more demanding is the 98? i got the 98s because my 2023 enforcer 94s seemed hard to ski.

      Considerable overlap between the Mirus Cor and Armada ARV 88. MC's better at fun carving, ARV 88 better in park but they both handle each of these styles.

      @@justinwight2213 i disagree that shovel is great: when the snow is soft or you can dig in the base easily that ski is one of the easiest and forgiving i have tried in the last few years. In mix cut off snow after a snow fall that shovel absorbs so well the hit from traced snow that is what i like the best of that ski. I bought a pair for my wife for spring skiing and she always said she does not need a wider pair. First run in soft spring condition she told me after one run “it feels like cheating, it is so easy to ski those condition “ yes the right tool makes a big difference.
