Yes in South Africa, when you flash the lights it means you are asking somebody to go ahead..... though it can also mean to be aware or alert as you are coming down the road fast so please be aware. If you use the hazard light and you have just passed a car, you are saying thank you. If you use the hazard or indicator to the driver behind you it is a sign that you are allowing or assisting them to over take you :) Interesting, i know
