My bad on my first comment lol but if wasn’t for the injuries, Grant Hill would have been among the greatest NBA players of his generation. He’s like the 90s the Derrick Rose but without the MVP.
Grant Hill, Sam Bowie, Brandon Roy are my all-time "what-if's". Lenny Bias and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf are two others but both for completely different reasons.
A decade without a college football game??? I’m confused, could you please clarify this statement?? I saw Grant Hill play in HS as a 6’ 8” PG. Without the constant injuries he would have been in the goat conversation…
Ed Obannon was the one that started the lawsuit for the name, image and likeness to get players compensated. EA Sports and the NCAA had to stop making the college games due to this. The College Football Game finally came back this year.
Crazy thing about Penny was that he was Parade National Player of the Year. He told me he missed too many days of school and that's why he didn't make the McDonald's team. He said he didn't even know that was a requirement, I said I didn't either. Mashburn was Mr. Basketball in NY and didn't make it either. I have no clue why. That's crazy to me.
Melvin Booker, father of current NBA star Devin Booker, also didn’t make the All American squad, even though he was Mississippi state player of the year in his classification
Penny Hardaway was the number 1 player out that class his senior year in high school. But something happened to him . he didn't finished his senior year in basketball
He was not invited to the game. I think he went to the Dapper Dan. Maybe because he was Prop 48. Some people claim Ed O bannon and others claim Damon Bailey but Penny could hold his own against all of them.
@JeramieTate Hey Damon he was label at one time the best 9th grade basketball ball player coming to high school in sports illustrated back in 1986 \87 year.
Penny didn't make the game because he was ineligible for most of his Senior Season. Morgan Wooten & John Wooden who had a lot of say in the game at the time, didn't think it was a good look for the game to have him play, even though he was generally considered the #1 Player in the game (Though some said Ed O'Bannon was #1). Penny averaged 36 ppg in the 10 or 11 games he played that year.
UNLV won the national championship in 1990. Then signed Ed O'Bannon. Shon Tarver and Darrin Hancock. None of those players were on that epic 1991 UNLV team. Adrian Autry got the Syracuse job after Boeheim "stepped down". Jim Boeheim did not want to retire. He was dismissed. Indiana thought they had Eric Montross but he chose Carolina Blue at the last minute. Penny Hardaway & Grant Hill were ranked #1 in this class. Injuries derailed their NBA careers. GOAT status for both if not for the Injuries. If Khalid Reeves played in today's NBA he'd be unstoppable. A walking bucket but forced to play the point bc of his height
The mcdonald's all american series is the best series hands down 💯
Everyone can’t be a star but a role player sometimes is good enough
Jamie Brandon was damn good in HS. Thought he'd be better at LSU
That's sad what happened to Shawn Bradley and Rodney Rogers
And RIP Eric Montross and Clifford Rozier.

Add Penny Hardaway to that list

Waiting for the 2011 video for personal reasons
Ed and his brother Charles O Bannon was in the Nba
Were* if you said ed was in the nba that would be correct but because it's two (or more) it goes from was to were
This series reminds how almost every really good white player at the time looked at least 5 years older than everyone else😂
Melvin Booker, father of current NBA star Devin Booker, also didn’t make the All American squad, even though he was Mississippi state player of the year in his classification
Derrick Phelps was/is 6'4, not 6'.

He got shot in the leg

Ahsmwm
Penny was ineligible part of his senior year. And he was the #1 1990 preseason poy in Street and Smith magazine, I believe.
