That's an impressive build of a decent looking kit - good job! What was the technique to get the darker band on the outside of the roundel? A thin spray of a dark grey? I've got a hurricane that needs that kind of treatment
Thanks dude!! I used a smoke like Tamiya’s smoke though i think really it should be a varying of the original colour . What it is is when this is done its a reapplication of the roundels but the way i did it is a cheat way of doing it but i think it would benefit of making it actually look as its been reapplied
@@SullysScaleModels to be honest, i think your way works and is much more accessible to most rather than having to mix specific shades and get the masking right
@@ModelMinutes its is lol next time i will do it properly! More for me that
This kit seems to be rather good.
Thank you for the build review! 👍
Excellent work
Hi. Really enjoyed this video and superb work. This vid acted as a precursor for me to buy the kit. My own family history is linked to the Bristol Blenheim albeit tragic as my grandfather was killed in action flying them. Keep up the great work !
A nice build. 👍
My goodness, its gorgeous..you certainly have some wonderful painting and weathering skills. That is something I fall short on is the painting end of modeling. I build a really decent model but my painting sucks. It really disapoints me !
Thanks my friend! I used to be like that. It dose take some time and practise. Do you airbrush? It wasnt till i got a cheap airbrush and started practising with that. Dont get me wrong i still make a good few cockups and bad jobs know and again
@@SullysScaleModels YES I airbrush and keep it really clean but it is getting used to the right presures and mixing of the paint. I am in my third year of air brushing. I am practicing on some really cheap models..the wings and fusalodges. Its practice I guess. I am always in awe when I see the experts work! My dry-brushing is getting really good to give things depth, so I guess I can say something good about my painting...LOL
Wow that was excellent!!
Cheers mate
Update...lol...I have just about finished the build..crazy engine and cowlings..why the cowlings in 3 pieces, lol..oh well. The landing gear fit really nice. I noticed for the engine I had to look about 4 or 5 steps ahead to make sure I had everything positioned right and I did 😊. I did a great job painting the coppit parts and even got all the creases in the pilots uniform to show (dry brushing). This is now the part I dont like...the masking and airbrushing...but I will follow your leed Sir as you did a magnificent job on yours. Cheers from Northern Ontario Canada 👍❤
Lol nice one dude! Ye its a bit of an odd one that and ye some builds you need for really look at whats going on! I would defiantly get yourself some masks for the canopy will make like very easy for you my dude! Email me you build when its done, like to see how it came out!
Outstanding 👍
Absolutely superb!
I do like the model, and your most impressive work on it, looks superb and so real!
very nicely done 😀
Super build and video, thank you..I have the desert camo scheme version and it’s been in the stash long enough..Your video was a great run through and pointer on areas..Plus the result looks amazing.
Nice build mate, looks ace 😉👍
Great model, very much a Lancaster look, sooo cool.
Thanks far from a lanc though
Love it
Nice kit of a great looking aircraft, but I found the canopy a real ball ache to fit ..!
I agree! I didnt have to much of a fight with it as i though i would and admittedly isnt fitted perfectly but i expected worse from it
Fantastic video build thank you .
Thanks mate
Very, very nice. Just basic modeling, no rivet counting.
As it should be😁 and thank you!
Good job. I have this in waiting and your video will be a big help. I plan to finish it as an Indian Air Force Coastal Defence Flight aircraft. The challenge is to find out what the underside colour was but my guess is sky.
Oh wow that sounds really cool mate!! I'd gusset the same or some sort of blue maybe?!
Very nice indeed , just ordered one . One nic pick tho i think the upper wing roundels are too far inboard.
Thanks mate! It's quite the enjoyable build! As to the roundels you could be right I did follow the instructions positioning. But I will say early roundels and positioning can be different to what we recognise in later versions. But I'm no expert 😁
You have mad skills. Though you need a manicurist with equally impressive qualities 🙃
What can i say! Working mans hands
I'm interested in where the entry door is to get into, and out of, this plane for the pilot and bomb aimer. Is it t sliding door in the roof ? Entering, How does one get up there ? ... and also, jumping out from falling plane ?....Looks impractical ....
On the MK1’s in and out are through the too sliding door. On the port side, there are foot and grab holes to gain access
Lovely job. Did you use any clear coat? I have been using Tamiya TS 13 sprayed in very thin layers but find it disolves the acrylic paint its meant to protect 😬
Thanks! Ye i tend to use Vallejos matt or some times i use AMMOs ultra matt
@@SullysScaleModels thanks for taking the time to reply, i will give that a go. Really enjoy your work 👍
Fine Scale Modeler wrote that the landing gear was difficult to assemble. What are your thoughts?
The only issue i had with the kit was the front glassing to sit right, the undercarriage was a little fiddly but i had no issue with it myself
@@SullysScaleModels What is the trick to get the glass to sit right? I really want to be able build this beauty.
@@gokhanersan8561 lots of dry fitting is the best advice mate when u you got it positioned right glue it together and hold it or tape it into place and let it dry
@@SullysScaleModels thanks buddy. I would love to build one of these twin engine beauties.
you have done a nice job ....but to be honest for a new kit is fair to say is bad...especially for what it costs !
Thanks! But in what way do you mean a bad kit? It has all the components the aircraft should have compared to the real thing.
@@SullysScaleModels i ment that for a new kit it lucks the very good fitting is unacceptable the gaps especially close to the glass area ,generally i think Airfix has gone for a good company to very average were other companies that are only few years old around making superior model kits with half the price, well thats what i think i might be wrong maybe i got spoiled with the Eduard and Tamiya kits
@@rOEN911 i know what you mean but British company’s struggle with costings and some of the other company’s are abule to produce them cheaper within there country’s. If Airfix produced everything at home it would be twice the amount. It seams for us over here producing stuff at home costs a fortune. I also have to say iv had fitting issues with some of the other cheaper but better produced ones like eduard! Im a bif fan boy of theres but iv had a couple were there fits a quite bad
@@SullysScaleModels You there!, yes you laddie. Don't let your spelling and grammar slip, there's a bally war on y'know!
Airfix need to re-brand
?!
Whys that?
Why all this this preshading nowadays? It doesn't look realistic.
It's to add more depth to the model. I personally think it also adds more I treats and breaks the flat surface up a bit also find clean models look more toy like. If you look hard anuf and with research you can find aircraft that will have an appearance such as this mainly due to fading and in some cases oil and grease sitting around the panel. It's not everybody's thing but I like the way it looks! Again I feel it adds some depth
