Northern Blacks faced the same problems in the North. Often, not paid for their work. Treated harshly by whites. The North just utilized slavery in a different way.
He knew there was bigger money in the new industrial revolution that was on the horizon and that slaves would not create the amount of business that industrial machinery would. One of many pragmatic thoughts of the time.
Hey bro in the orange shorts is right. Once slavery was abolished America’s industrial revolution really began because we had to develop machinery and begin to truly innovate to keep the economy afloat.
Is that because there were some skills taught to slaves that they were able to translate into the free market, and help tremendously during the industrial revolution!
Actually the Industrial Revolution was well under way in the Northern, Non-Slave states by the time of the civil war...thats one of the main reasons the North won the war!
No the industrial revolution had been in full swing in the northern free states for decades before the civil war. Only after the slaves were freed did the south start to industrialize and were still way behind the north in every metric until the 1970's and the end of Jim Crow.

If you think about the foundational beliefs of each party it starts making a lot of sense: the Republican party believes in individual liberty and small government, while the Democratic party believes in more legislation and big government. Out of those two, which party is more likely to fight for the rights of each individual, versus which party is more likely to put people into groups and make laws based on their distinguishing characteristics?
Well, if your daughter is raped, apparently Republicans do not believe in her individual rights and are passing laws to force her to give birth to the bastard.
This is pure nonsense. The Republican Party back then were the liberals. It was just a name, not their political spectrum. The two swapped. It’s insane to see modern Republicans believing they had anything to do with that party.

ESG requires that companies place "socially and environmentally progress-oriented ideas" (wokeism) into their ads and social outreach to obtain a higher score and get more funding from investors. Companies who bend to that requirement when their customers are already tired of the progressive agenda for the sake of money are going to face backlash, and rightly so. Answer: You are exactly that kind of moron who would've left school without a decent thought in your brain NO MATTER WHO WAS IN CHARGE OR WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN TAUGHT. Got it B?
We learned this in school when I was growing up. All through elementary to high school (80s-90s). We learned this kind of information...we learned about all sides. It's how we can look at us as a nation now and see what we achieved from the past, based on the rights and promises granted from the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and The Constitution. It gave a sense of pride in our country and ourselves. And it was so fun to learn!! Painful at times, angering at others, but learning about our entire history as a united country always enlightened us to better understanding of ourselves, our nation and our world. That's why everything going on right now is so frustrating, terrifying and annoying. I'm trying to look at this current situation in our culture as growing pains. That we will come out of this stronger and better as a society. They say it's always darkest before the dawn. I'd say we're riding the dark side at the moment, but there is light, we just have to fight to get it back.

LBJ passing those civil rights measures wasn’t entirely due to altruistic purposes, as he had opposed similar measures in the past. Biographers also say that he was an overt racist. I think he simply wanted to further Kennedy’s vision, and to add to his base of supporters. After his meeting with MLK jr in 63, he must’ve observed how big the civil rights movement grew and saw that it wasn’t going anywhere. He was a complicated man. Definitely recommend “The Path to Power” by Robert Caro, a long but informative read.

@@DeusSalis I believe the first reply is mentioning that the southern production of cotton was a huge part in the northern industrial production of clothes. (Because British already mostly already ended the slave trade and wanted it abolished. You can correct me if I'm wrong lmao)

I just discovered ya'll today and have been addicted watching ya'll evolve. If I was your mother I would be so proud of each of you. Why? Because you're being critical thinkers, you're getting information and making your own mind up. Because when you're not sure you look it up. Because you're educating yourselves BY CHOICE! Because you care about yourselves, your community and your country to better understand why the world is what it is today. I respect that so much. I don't care what at the end of the day what you decide; democrat, liberal, libeterien, republican; what matters most is that you are trying to wake up from it all and make up your own mind and not allowing anyone to make it up for you or influence you.

Slavery was economically unsustainable.
This education gave us the ability and we were allowed to form our own options.

There’s a video I watched on TH-cam. I can’t remember the title, but it basically states a good and bad fact of every US president. And besides John F. Kennedy and the civil rights act, almost every progressive bill that was put into law that was beneficial to the black community was passed by Republicans.
Jfk's most famous quote "Ask not what your country can do for you..." but for the last 60 years the Dem party is all about the opposite of that. Welfare, abortion rights, immigrants being allowed to vote, etc. Etc. Etc.
Civil rights act was passed by Republicans too. Overwhelming majority of GOP in House and Senate voted to pass it while about half or so of Dems did and it was signed into law by LBJ
@@SilverJay7Democrats are only consistent about Abortion. All their other positions change with the blow of the wind. How fast did they flip on immigrants when they were sent to their safe heavens away from the swine? They don't want more Cubans here because Cubans largely vote republican. And their push for immigration is to put them in the census so they can get more seats in congress in areas that they already win to expand the government in their direction to hold more of a majority and let large companies exploit their cheap labor to avoid paying Americans large salaries. Ever seen a welfare application that asks if you're a migrant worker? Yeah, they're making the American tax payer pick up the slack that the corporations don't pay for jobs that we want but can't get because they don't want to pay us fairly and then they claim we aren't willing to do those jobs. Democrats act like they want Americans to have livable wages while they give away our livable wage jobs to migrants that underbid us and then we have to pay them with our taxes with the left over jobs that don't pay livable wages. It's such a farce that it blows my mind how the other side can't see what they're doing and how hard they're abusing all of us and gaslighting us as if we're the selfish uncaring ones.
