    Thanks Dan. I’ve been binge watching caravan videos the last week and I needed a new one.

    Thanks Dan another good one. I had an Sterling Elite caravan with a full Isabella awning, I changed my van for a Bailey Cadiz
    I altered my awning to be able to use it with the Bailey as a 3/4 awning. total cost £80 for the pole kit needed, a darn site cheaper than another £1500 for a new awning and it is great.

    Great video. Really useful. You mentioned not having a larger awning over the boat rail but I don't have many options on my Abbey cardinal 315 2004. How bad of a job would it be if a 390 awning went to the far end of the window before it starts to slope "properly"

    I've got a Sprite major 6, with a PRIMA Air Awning 390, perfect fit and extremely good value for money...
    Had the awning electric point put just behind the wheel arch.

      Where does it come to ref the rear locker?

    • @richm6469
      @richm6469 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Between the locker and the rail. There's a rain vent flap triangle (not sure what it's called) that follows the curve of the rail.
      I've had a lot of comments how spacious it is, the depth is large than normal.

    Nice one Dan, thank you, that cleared up a number of misconceptions for me... 👍🏻
    I still have this phobia with any kind of awning, I have never satisfactorily erected an awning and never, ever, managed to get the bloody thing back into its bag!... 🤷🏼‍♂️ 😡 😂
    So, we have a Fiamma full length canopy permanently fitted at the moment, replacing the shorter one, which was a hangover from our first ‘van. Since we bought and fitted it we have been in lockdown - sod’s law... 🤔 🤢
    Stay safe, be well and cfn, Rog... 👍🏻 😉 🐍

    This year i am looking to buy a full size awning and, although i found this video useful, i cant imagine how or where i would get such a long measuring tape to fit around the awning rail. Can you advise or am i still going to fall back on the manufacturers figures? 2010 Lunar Lexon SB

    Hi Dan I know you live in Berkshire and are a member of the Caravan and Motorhome club. I wondered if you had ticked the box for the Berkshire Centre. Had you and your family ever thought of going on caravan rallies. We run a number of rallies over the whole year. It would be really nice to see you and your family at one of our rallies.

      Hi Peter, ive answered your comments regarding rallies, a few times now - not sure if you are seeing my replies.
      At the moment rallies, do not appeal to me - i've a long memory of Avon CC and Wiltshire CC from the early 80's - but who knows, maybe when this has all blown over , we may give it a go.
      Thanks
      Dan

      The Trudgians Dan thanks I did finally get your reply and notice that you had been on rallies in the past. The thing that I will say is that not all centres are the same and some run better rallies than others. I would like to think that we at the Berkshire Centre are one of the better ones but than I am biased. I used to think that joining rallies was about meeting up with old boring people that were a bit like a old fuddy duddies, people that I would never have anything in common with us. How wrong was I it just is not like that and yes you can attack a rally in two ways you can make the effort and get to know people or you can sit in the corner and self isolate. But the way we are we would try to make every effort to involve you and your family, as new members are our future and we need new people and new ideas. I joined the committee and took over the role as Rally Secretary because I wanted to be a part of giving people what they want from a rally and everyone is different, we all want different things which is why I put together a varied program with something for everyone. Now we not like other centres we are the Berkshires and we believe in giving people what they want, which is why we get a lot of visitors from other centres. All I say is come on one of our rallies and see what you think. I think that you may well be a bit surprised and as you will see from the rally book when you receive it. This year we were going to run 5 holiday rallies, two of them to France one in May and one in August. I hope that helps you can email me at rallysec.bcc@gmail. Com if you send me your address I will get a rally book for this year sent out to you free of charge. We have been hit this year by Covid 19 just like everywhere but we did not let that dampen our spirit we held virtual rallies in our gardens with the rally fee going to the NHS. We talked to each other on Facebook and video linked it was good and just kept us together. You can also see us on our Facebook page just type in Berkshire Centre and it will com up.

    Hi Dan
    I'm in the market for a porch awning that just covers the door, just big enought for storing a few wet/ muddy items like boots but can't find anything. You would think all awning manufacturers would have have one in their range as it should fit any van size.

    A question I have about porch awnings is how wide is the pad area that fits against the caravan side and is the size the external width (outside to outside of the pads)?

    • @TheTrudgians
      @TheTrudgians  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mark, a difficult one to answer, as all awnings will differ in their design. As I mentioned in the video, have a look at a demonstrator or ask the sales teams at your local dealership for further help.

    Forgot to say details of how to accomplish this are on the Isabella website

    Your video shows how important it is not to go & buy any size porch awning thinking it will fit your van, then finding it goes comes down across components along the side of the van.

    Had a look at the Isabella website and their claim to measure every caravan doesn’t hold up. Mine has been in production since 2017 and not a sniff of it in their measurements section.
