  • At 200K I replaced the clutch in my 05 TJ. Ever since then I have a rattle in my NV3550 transmission. The rattle goes away when I slightly depress the clutch. This tells me that it is a throwout bearing issue. But what it is it exactly. Follow along and see what I found. If you are a subscriber…THANK YOU! If you are not one, please subscribe! Thanks for watching the video and have a blessed day.

    Sir, I can tell you that you deserve a big hug! Don't feel bad, I changed the transmission for same stupid stuff, is the shifter the problem, but I still changed the transmission because the transmission guy could not even open the old transmission. After they changed it it had a noise from beforehand as well, and is all that part you changed. The transmission guys if they don't know about a Jeep, they are nothing but a waste of money, and if you tell them, they get mad.

    Hard lessons learned. I can’t believe the shop didn’t see that what a shame. It must be such a relief to finally get that squared away, congrats on figuring out the problem.

    You thought me a lot, I can be a teacher thanks to you, in a how many minute video? And you in the meantime went through hell and back to teach us something! If I was rich I would send you some money that if you ask me, you well deserve. ❤️ my hug! 😂👍🏼👏👏👏👏

    Wow. Glad you got it fixed. I had a similiar problem with an automatic. The oil pump was overlooked. I pull the trans out 5 times in 1 week. It was my fault, I did the rebuild myself. Lessoned learned. Thanks for your story

    Great video! I would have over looked this while doing the clutch in my Jeep.

    I believe the core problem is not having a return spring on the clutch fork. The throwout bearing should not touch the clutch unless your foot is on the couch pedal. If the throw out bearing was not riding against the clutch, it would not have worn the collar that it rides on.

      You are welcome, I'll see if I can find a part number. I sold the Jeep a few years back, and I'm not sure if I still have the records.

    Dang, I feel the pain! Do you have the NSG370? I also have an 05, I’m a new Jeep owner. I’ve got 109k miles, no odd noises but is it good “preventative maintenance” to replace all of those items and such? I have noticed they sell the AX15 kit and bell housing for 2500 but I really seem to like the NSG370.

      This just came up on my feed, sorry for the late response. If I remember correctly it was the NSG370. Yep good plan to replace everything. Thanks for the comment.

    What was the final cost?

    • @DunnageGarage
      @DunnageGarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mjcdetroit It's been a few years since I made that video, adding the fork, bearing probably added less than $50 to the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and machining the flywheel...however the time spent was huge...doing and redoing it as many times as we did.

    Unbelievable the shop never addressed the arm, sleeve, or the throw out bearing clips. Hope you took the bad parts back to the shop and asked for an explanation or even a refund of some items.

    • @DunnageGarage
      @DunnageGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marked it off as tuition. But did take the parts to them, showed them what I learned, so they new what to look for. They dropped the tranny 3 or 4 times on their dime during this. So I am happy.
