I'm so happy to see a lantern you can make from scratch instead of having to invest in a die set - & it's so simple too! Thanks so much for sharing! :)
Making lots of these for an upcoming craft show. I only have 8 1/2 by 11 cardstock, but have found a way to make it work. I also changed the way I assemble the top which makes it easier for my not so nimble old fingers. Thanks for the inspiration. God Bless.
Hi Sherry, I was wondering if you could please share the modifications you made. I don't have 12x12 paper but would love to craft these lovely lanterns! Thanks in advance...
@@marigoldStudio Heading out of town in the morning, but will write a note to message you when I get home in a few days cause I will have to try to remember how I did it.
@@marigoldStudio I really have not forggoten about the measurements for 8 1/2 X 11 paaper. Husband of good friend passed the day after I got home, and just haven't had time to find where I put the measurements. If I can't find them soon, I will tear apart one I had left from last year and let you know. Sorry for the delay
@@marigoldStudio I just found the measurments. 1 pc. 6X11 score on 11" side at 2 3/4, 5 1/2, 8 1/4. , turn and score at 2". 1 binding strip 1/2" x 4" to attach the sides of the lantern together. All other measurements are the same. Hope this works for you.
This project is so cute. Thanks for the instructions. I'll be making these for coworkers so I had to come up with a better way than to cut each individual one. I put your dimensions in my Cricut and set up the score and cut lines. It turned out perfect. Now to create the paper holly and berry embellishments.
Tracy , Thanks so much! You are brilliant! I have a couple Cricuts, but haven’t used them in a while. I need to get them out again, although I don’t know if I can do what you did. I’m not that Cricut savvy! 😂 Have a great day! 😊
Hi again Sweet Angie... WOW --- is this super cute. I am thinking tealights inside. What a fun box. And it would be easy to make this into a shaker box. The poker tool is a paper piercer. Thank you so much for always sharing the sweetest boxes. Have a fun evening. Surie
Surie, Thank you very much! Yes, I thought of a tea light too. It would be adorable. You know it's crazy when I'm doing a video how. Can't remember things! Yes a Paper piercer! Lol! 😂
I would say this is definitely wow factor! I can't imagine trying to figure this one out, but girl you did it! How awesome this project is!! I love it, Angie!
Thanks so much Jeanette! It's my favorite, but I do love the real Lanterns as well. It took me a while, but I was determined! Lol! Thanks for the sweet comment!:)
Oh my goodness... What a lovely project!! Your instructions make it seem like I could certainly give it a go.. I think ANYONE would be thrilled to receive this as a gift.. and I best make at least one for my own Christmas decorations.. A little battery operated tea light might be cute as well... if just using for decoration. Thanks for doing the mental gymnastics for us !! : >
sharon, Thank you very much! I love this project. It took me a while to finally figure it all out, but I’m happy with the results. I appreciate the sweet comment. I think a tea light would be adorable. Thanks for the idea!😊
I love this Angie.....this lantern turned out fantastic....I have to give this a try....The first of December I always make something special to my daughters and friend and I think this is it.....well done and tfs
Terrie, Thank you so much! I really love this one, I think it’s my all time favorite, but I do love lanterns. It was really fun once I got the measurements down! 😂 Enjoy making them!😊
A beautiful lantern! I am always amazed at how clever people can be to come up with such wonderful ideas and create a project such as this:) Congratulations! Thank you for sharing. I think these lanterns would make anyone love their gift:)
Wow I definitely will have to give this one a try, I have lots of 12 x 12 cardstock not sure in black. I hope it turns out as pretty as yours. Will send you a picture when I get it completed. We just got back from a weekend trip from the cabins that our neighbor invited us. So will have to unwind and check where I left off and retrieve all my messages and emails caught up. Because of the higher elevation their is no signal where we were. If it turns out awesome I sure would love to make this to to give out also.
Thanks Shirl! It’s really not difficult. It just takes a little more time than a simple box. I really think this s one of my all time favs! Definitely send me a picture! I love seeing what you do. Hope you enjoyed your weekend. I need a weekend with nothing but relaxation!😂Have a great day! 😊
MIND BLOWN!! Seriously Angie. When I first saw this I was like a cartoon character where my jaw dropped to the floor, my eyes bulged out of my head and I swear I heard the old fashioned car horn...."AARR-UUU-GGUUHH!!" hahaha This has been SO MUCH FUN to make!!! I am gonna make a ton of these for family and friends. I still can't believe you figured out how to make this adorable lantern. I LOVE lanterns!!! This is just AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!!! I can't even begin to tell you how phenomenal this is!! So so sooooo stinking cute!!!! I even ran to JoAnn's yesterday and got some of the 3/8 inch velcro circles so I was excited to use them. You just really floored me this morning. hahaha Awesome awesome tutorial!!! Thank you , thank you, thank you!!! (Can you tell I'm a little excited? LOL) I seriously do not know how you do it week after week. Tell your Mom and Mr. Angie I said "Hello" and hope they are doing well. Have a FABULOUS day "Seester"!! LOL xoxo
Lol! I love you Julie! I hope that doesn’t sound too weird! 😂 You never fail to make me laugh. I love lanterns too, I can’t get enough. I have been working on this for a while, trying to figure out how I was going to do it. Friday, I started looking at the real ones and it hit me!🤦🏽♀️ I didn’t leave my craft table till I had it down. I couldn’t find anything on you tube. I was shocked I couldn’t find any, well at least without a die for it. It has to be up there non my favorite list!😂 I just got back from visiting my Mom. She’s doing ok, her memory is really failing and you just want to scream and say why can’t you remember that! Of course I don’t,but it’s s hard to see your parents this way. Just a year ago she was fine. Oh well, It’s life right? I’m so falling in love with the residents there. They are so sweet, you want to hug them all! I have a few I actually have to hug and kiss every time I’m there. I feel so bad for those no one comes to see!😢 How can people be so cruel? Oh well, I don’t want to depress You anymore 😂 Thanks so much my sweet friend! Hope you enjoy making them. Have a great night! Big Hugs Seester!
Just gorgeous Angie. You have such a creative mind. Do you ever sleep? lol I just love it & I will be making hopefully more than one for treats for Christmas. Thank you so much Angie & have a great day!HugsAnnette
Hi Angie, these are absolutely gorgeous! Would love to know how to make it work for 8.5x11" cardstock as I don’t have 12x12, if possible. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful project. Your treat boxes are always my favorite 😍
I'd like to say a very big THANK YOU for this great idea. I made some to put some homemade gingerbreads in for some of my neighbours for Christmas. Great idea. Xxx

It dries clear, but sticky!!
FYI....alcohol cleans up the acetate sheets. I too dislike spots on the acetate. Cute roject.
