Most helpful walk through the camera controls. The menu options are potentially confusing. The visualized walk through was immensely useful. Thank you.
Excellent introduction to the camera. I had been completely bogged down by the written instructions and now I feel less baffled. Now I must just go and USE it. Thank you.
Just found this video and it's the best tutorial for a complete novice like myself. My phone camera wasn't doing it for me so I was thinking about ZS200 as an EDC. After watching your video I'm sold on the camera and will be back to rewatch your tutorial (and make notes) once it's in my hands. Thank you. BTW your voice is so calm, unlike most tech voiceovers who sound like they've eaten too much halloween candy.
Great job! I'm a total novice that just purchased a ZS200 and started reading through the manual, finding it to be a bit too much for me initially. Your video is a great way for me to get started. Thanks!
Great! What a revelation! It’s a terrific camera but I use it infrequently and it puzzles me with something new every time I pick it up. Thank you for explaining some real basics I was missing.and showing me things I really don’t need to bother with. Excellent fluent demonstration too, not easy to do. Well done.
I have two of these dynamic little cameras & i love them both. One is in silver; the other in black. Perfect little friends to carry while travelling around.
Thank you so much for this excellent video! I just got myself a ZS200 and your video was the perfect "crash course" overview of what it can do. Thank you so much!
Look at that!!! A TH-cam video that get's straight to the point. Just ordered this camera and you have helped an old film AP immensely in understanding.
Thank you. Good basic walkthrough. Easy to follow along with your demo. I was getting frustrated initially moving through menus. Very helpful. This little camera does a lot!
This is the first video that walks through all the controls,I'm looking at the ZS100 & the ZS200.I want some zoom,5X not enough 30-35 zoom to much. You did a great job on this video, thank you.
Very good demo about this camera. I have just bought it my self and I learned a lot through this video about the different functions. More than the user manual shows... There is one thing in this camera I don't know why is there, and it is the "FILTER SETTINGS" in the camera settings. When the "FILTER SETTING" is set in "ON" mode it sets "photo style, color space, highlight shadow, i,Dynamic, flash" and other functions in grey and not to function. It took some time to figure that the "Filter setting" MUST be set to "OFF" mode to get these functions back.
Ah those Filter Settings. Essentially the same function as turning your dial to the painters palette, where you can turn your photographs to black & white, sepia, high key, low key etc. The unfortunate part about Panasonic cameras is there are a few functions that can grey out certain options and the camera doesn't tell you why. As much as I love this point and shoot, it does have a LOT of tools you can use which can be a pro and a con. I am glad you were able to figure it out on your own! If you have any questions, let me know!
I congratulate you on how didactic the video is. You have helped me understand how it works. Although I speak Spanish, your English is very clear. Congratulations again.
Thanks for the walkthrough! I just bought this camera to use for travel. I've used my faithful Nikon D800 with a 28-300mm lens for years, but as I get older, I'm trying to reduce the weight of my backpack. I tried to buy a Nikon A1000, but it was backordered, and I gave up after waiting for six weeks. This one cost more, but it looks like it will do as much or more than the A1000. Along with a lighter camera, my criteria were a good zoom lens, and being able to shoot in RAW. The ZS200 looks like it will do the trick. Thanks again for the helpful video.
Great Information on the TZ200 … I Learned More about this Camera then I could have Hoped for … Now I am Ready to use on our Next Trip … Thanks so much!
Thank you so much. I got my camera one month ago and I have hardly used it. The guideline you get with the camera is hopeless. Now I am ready to try👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
This is by far and away the best Panasonic Lumix DC ZS200 video that my wife and I have seen so far! It is thorough, logical, and detailed. I think my wife will prefer it to the manual when her new ZS200 arrives tomorrow.
I just bought this camera and the manual is terrible. This tutorial really helped. I would love a more in-depth tutorial that explains the menu options in more detail. It would also be helpful to have all the icons on the screen explained. This is supposed to be a great little camera, but so far I am disappointed. Hopefully I will do better with it after I watch your tutorial a few more times!
Hi, Heather. What an awesome video! You really helped me begin to understand this camera I just bought. Thank you so much! There is one thing that shows up on the Display screen as I scroll through the Display screen options that I don't know what it means or what it is for. It is fairly large in the middle of the screen and looks like two two vertical lines enclosed by a parenthesis. Thank you!
I enjoyed the video as I'm considering this camera for travel. I had no idea that the Leica C-Lux is virtually the same camera. I have no idea why anyone would spend the extra money for the Leica.
Brand names are powerful. I, personally, think the "generic" does equal or better in cases of panasonic vs leica point and shoots or even tamron lenses vs name brand!

Such a great video. Thanks for the thorough explanation. Do you know if the Bluetooth transfer function from camera to app still works with the latest software updates? It’s a feature I’m relying on for travel so I want to make sure I can do this.
The video is very detailed which is great for tutorial. But because I’m not familiar a lot of the features, It would be even better if you can show a closer, bigger picture or video of the camera. Especially when showing the different functions on the screen. I saw how other video which are not as detailed as yours but their video is clearer since it’s larger. It’s easier to follow. Thank you
Love your helpful video. New lumix 200d works great thanks to your setups. My camera has a brief delay after each photo. Is there as setting that removes this delay. Thanks Bill Cross
Brilliant, I bought the camera yesterday as an update on a 13year old Panasonic, many features the same just buried in different places, so your video is a "God Send" what you didn't cover was the Bluetooth and WiFi features, I have the equipment to transfer to iPhone, iPad and Mac via the SDHC card, however, I would like to set up this feature as well. Its a shame that they no longer add the GPS feature, I loved that on my older Panasonic (TS20) How does the travel date feature work? please. Many thanks June (from the UK)
I love this camera but wifi/sync methods for transfering to my iPhone is god awful. I'm considering taking it back to the store...its a major dealbreaker for me edit: I watched your other video..seems to work the best - thank you!
Would be nice if Panasonic made a successor to this with 4K 60p recordings. My GH5 is a nice camera but it can get big depending on the lens you use. Smartphones are much more compact but doesn’t have much zoom and the sensor is on the small side. Something like this is a good middle ground.
Thank you so much for doing this video, I ordered mine yesterday and I will watch it again. Just one thing about the zoom : another person doing a review of it said that the shutter was fragile or could get caught on an object (if you put it your purse for instance). Did you observe that as well ?
I would like to use the P setting to adjust the aperture and shutter speed but when I am on P, I cannot change anything on the touch screen having to do with those 2 settings. Perhaps you could cover that in a future video. And thanks for the info. All the other videos compare features but don't take me through the camera settings, which is what I really needed to get started.
The touch screen will not typically allow you to select them, its really picky about what is and isn't touch commanded. On the P mode, you will change the shutter speed OR the aperture with the wheel around your directional pad on the back of the camera. Thank you for watching!
Excellent video! I am most interested in capturing animals in motion, mostly dogs runing, diving, jumping, etc. What settings should I use? P with 4k burst?
I would say if you want to try burst, try out the 4K photo burst on P but make sure there is plenty of light. If you want to get single shots, use your S mode to control your shutter speed :)
Coming from a Lumix LX7, this looks like a nice step up. I would love to have a floppy screen and maybe additional subject auto focus items, e.g. birds, vehicles, pets. Is there a camera with these added features you would recommend? Thanks for a great video review!
Your video was very helpful - I've owned this camera for 6 months and I am struggling with getting my subjects in focus most of the time. Do you have a tutorial on that or can you point me towards one. I grew up using (many years ago) my grandfather's Leica M3 and so I was excited to find an affordable Leica "cousin". I feel frustrated that I can't seem to get what I want out of the camera. Thanks again for this video.
I dont have a video specifically going over focusing quite yet, but it is on my list! Have you tried changing your focus area to a more specific point rather than using the 49 point focus? That always helps my focus!
When you select One Point Color, a little box with arrows around it will pop up. You want to use either your touch screen or the directional pad to move the square over a color you want, then hit the middle "set" button and everything else should be black and white! Have fun!
Hi I just bought the ZS200 I liked your video How do you set up a bracketed shot like to take 3 photos one +1 one at neutral and one at -1 I can see where to find bracketing but can not seem to find a way ot take a bracketed shot after I have set it and then how do you turn it off also is there a quick way to do a bracketed shot Also in which program mode can you turn HDR to be on Thank you David Bellevue WA
Hello David! When it comes to setting up bracketing, you want to go to menu>camera tab>Page 4/4>Bracket>+/->More settings>step>3.1 and then make sure in that same menu under More settings>Single Shot Setting is set to multiple frames with the arrow. To turn it off, you will have to go into your menu to Bracket again, and set it to OFF. You may be able to set a shortcut to bracket by assigning it to one of your Fn buttons. You will assign your Fn buttons in the Menu under the wrench with the C tab>Operation>Fn Button Set. When it comes to HDR, you can turn on this option in the P, A, S and M modes through the menu right under the Bracket setting. Hope this helps!
I am trying out this camera....Did she have to speed talk and I mean speed talk through the menu toggles... I stopped it every few seconds and finally gave us. Hoping the visualized walk through will be helpful.
I apologize for going too fast for you, Pamela! The menu's can easily be overwhelming for any new user so I quickly go through the most important options and stop to discuss the ones to remember when first getting started. That is why I will be doing a specific Menu only walkthrough going through each option and what it does. Keep an eye out, it is coming soon!
Thanks for the useful walkthrough. The viewfinder and monitor used to work fine, but now when I am outside and I turn the camera on the monitor screen stays on briefly and then shuts off. When I push the Fn4 LVF button it gives me either monitor or viewfinder. When on monitor and I put my eye on the viewfinder it does not automatically come on. What setting am I missing?
Thank you for this awesome video. I have the zs200, but recently all my videos plays shaky, even if I try different settings. I also did a reset but it did not solved the problem. When I use a tripod it is ok, but I don't want to use a tripod ! Is it possible to fix it ? Thanks.
What is filter size that can use on lens like PL? What would you recommend to buy High Speed SD card that good for this camera? How much to pay more battery spare. It can direct charge from mobile phone power bank? Thanks for your help.
On this camera, you are unfortunately not able to use any filters. I would definitely get a High Speed card, like this one here - amzn.to/38TCAof And spare batteries run about $40 but make sure you get the Panasonic Lumix brand. When it comes to batteries, I have seen off brands implode inside cameras and it's not worth the risk. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Hi! Thanks so much for making this video. I found it very helpful! I'm having trouble with the "min. shtr speed" function. I set my minimum shutter speed to be 1/125 and put the "Shutter Type" to ESHTR. For some reason my camera keeps overriding and having shutter speeds below 1/125 (i.e. 50, 60, etc.) and my pictures are turning out blurry. Any suggestions? What setting should the top dial be set to for the "Min. Shtr Speed" function to work? I have tried it on P, A, S, and M, and I had the same issue regardless of the setting. I'm not sure if this matters, but I also have the "ISO Auto Upper Limit (Photo)" set to 1600. Would appreciate any suggestions you might have. Thanks!
In the ‘Aperture’ mode, the lowest aperture I can get is 3.8. Is it possible to change that limit somewhere in the settings and access a lower aperture?
This camera has a limited aperture opening of 3.3-6.4, depending on the distance zoomed out. Unfortunately there is no way to access a larger aperture than 3.3 at its widest setting.
Can anyone help to answer the question: What does the numbers mean on the bottom-right corner of the screen, which changes between 1178 and r78 when the shutter button is half-way depressed? Thank you!
The 1178 is how many photos you have left to take on your memory card. As for the r78, in other cameras this typically represents how many photos you can capture in a row (like using your continuous drive) before it needs to stop to buffer.
Hi, thanks for your videos! As a newbie to this camera, I would like to be able to access this video offline - may I (or can I) download it to my iphone? Other questions please: at the 14:42 point of your video, you discuss the use of the Fn1 button and suggest its use for scenarios including landscape photography. But why would you want to use 30 fps for a scenery pic? I just think I must be missing something here. Also, at 28:02 your camera shows "online manual" just above Cust Set Mem, but I don't see "online manual" on my camera - what am I doing wrong? I still have to update my firmware from 1 to 1.2 - could that be it? Thanks again, Mark.
Would this camera work under dark rooms? I work in a restoration company that I have to be taking lots of picture in the dark. Sometimes I have to use a flash light . Just wanted to know if this camera would work under dark rooms and even white surfaces. I know My Canon 800D sucks for that. Not able to take pics in dark rooms or even rooms with white paint colors.. ? Thanks 👍
This camera can perform under those circumstances, but not easily. You would need a sturdy tripod and use the timer setting or the app as a remote to capture the piece in low light. Otherwise, I would recommend something with a larger sensor that will excel in low light like a Sony A7II.
@@Shutterbug101 Thank you, yes, I saw that since. Unfortunately I think I also read that IA+ also increases ISO vs IA only, like for when it suspects moving subject or such, which with the 1" sensor of the ZS200 is not great...
can it do slow motion video directly on the camera? Or do you need to do it in software? I know that it does 30 frames at 4k and I believe that it also does 60 frames at 1080, can it go faster at lower resolutions? 120 frames at 720 would be nice for a compact, I have the GX1 and I find that it's just not practical when I'm out with my family so something like this can be dropped into a pocket and you are basically done! I usually carry a battery bank for my phone anyway so it could also charge the camera if it needed it... also, in video mode, does it show the audio level meters on the screen?
This model does have a High Speed Video option when on the video mode, located on the first tab in the menu. It doesn't specify what frame rate it's using, but it is designed to capture slow motion video. I believe it is then up to you to slow it down in post processing. It also does not have an audio level display, unfortunately. But this is a pretty fantastic camera and it is possible to slow down 60 frames as well if the High Speed Video setting doesn't work well for you.
@@Shutterbug101 I ended up going to the Panasonic website and it explains much of what I wanted to know but there was no mention of the audio level meters on screen, so thank you. The list of features is actually quite comprehensive from what I saw on the website, at 1080 it can do 100 frames per second but it doesn't get faster as you drop off in resolution as some of the gopro style cameras do.. The only let down for me is that there really isn't a way to get audio into the camera! Apart from it being handy when you are out and about, having a microphone input and switchable to aux input would mean not only could you use a microphone in an interview style but back at home you can tripod mount it and vlog with it, then all that it would need to do is be able to cut and assemble the videos on camera and you would have an excellent all rounder, maybe they need to release a camera specific to vlogers! There's a market there that no one is actually good at!
Vlogging is becoming more and more common so hopefully their next model will feature a Mic port and flip screen! Only time will tell, but that seems to be the most popular request! As an option, you can use your cell phone and a Rode Smartlav to record better audio and attach it to your video in post processing, but naturally it's more to juggle around.
Heather, I have played with this a little, and can't figure this out. In the Art Palette mode, how do I select the color I want to emphasize with the "One Point Color" filter?
I'm having trouble setting a Custom menu option. Example, I want to set up the camera to Bracket an image in Aperture priority mode for 3 images, @ 1 stop intervals. Once I have it set up, I go to the menu and under Custom mode setting I choose C1. It doesn't give me an option to overwrite etc show I just choose the center button on the wheel. Now when I go back and change the dial to C and choose C1. The camera only takes 1 image, it doesn't take a bracketed shot. What am I doing wrong?
Hello Steve! What you will want to do is turn your dial to A mode > access "Bracket" on the 4th page of your red camera menu > Turn it on to the Aperture sign with the F in the middle > then go to the wrench part of your menu (NOT the wrench with the C) and access Cust.Set Mem. > Choose C1 > select Yes Now your C mode on C1 should allow you to bracket quickly! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Have you tutorial as well to move the pictures to your mobile? Because when I am travelling I want to use them for a social journal so I need them on my phone and I don't figure it out how to do it and how to edit them with my phone afterwards. I hope you can help me. Thanks!
I just recorded that video actually, so it should be posted within a few weeks! Subscribe and hit the notification bell so TH-cam can alert you when it uploads!
Hi, I have a TZ220. I always use the viewfinder in preference to the LCD. However when I look thru the view finder my nose touches the LCD and alters the position of the focus grid (which I set to the centre of the display). How do I stop this happening please?
Hi. I can't figure out how to use this camera without a memory card. If I depress the shutter it tells me 'no memory card inserted' . Maybe the camera is recording the image but I can't how to review the pic.
Most helpful walk through the camera controls. The menu options are potentially confusing. The visualized walk through was immensely useful. Thank you.

Love the video. Can someone tell me if the screen is made out of plastic or glass? What about the viewfinder?
The screen is made out of glass to allow the touch screen ability, and the viewfinder is as well.
@@Shutterbug101 thank you sooo much for the info! 😊
Thanks - very informative. When I use one point colour how do I select the colour that I want to see? Thnx
How do I stop my camera accidentally taking photos when I bump the touchscreen? I only want to use the button, argh!
Awesome video.
Thanks.
You can use a gimbal or stabilizer to steady your video, that is what I would recommend
What is filter size that can use on lens like PL?
What would you recommend to buy High Speed SD card that good for this camera?
How much to pay more battery spare. It can direct charge from mobile phone power bank?
Thanks for your help.
On this camera, you are unfortunately not able to use any filters.
I would definitely get a High Speed card, like this one here - amzn.to/38TCAof
And spare batteries run about $40 but make sure you get the Panasonic Lumix brand.
Thanks!
It should allow you to set your shutter speed specifically to 1/125 in the S mode. It still changes on its own?
Thank you
Thank you 🙏🏾
In the ‘Aperture’ mode, the lowest aperture I can get is 3.8. Is it possible to change that limit somewhere in the settings and access a lower aperture?
This camera has a limited aperture opening of 3.3-6.4, depending on the distance zoomed out. Unfortunately there is no way to access a larger aperture than 3.3 at its widest setting.
@@Shutterbug101 Thank you!
Can you manual focus the camera
Excelent
Do you know how long the battery is supposed to last for , and can a replacement battery be added in the future when nessesary
Otherwise, I would recommend something with a larger sensor that will excel in low light like a Sony A7II.
will the zoom work while recording a video ?
Yes. The videos that zoomed in on the animals was done with the zs200 :)
Thank you for the video, but if you could tell us what is the difference between AI and AI+ in this camera, that's one I haven't figured out yet...
The intelligent auto plus is intelligent auto but also allows you to choose brightness, color and in some cameras the depth of field.
Cool
Heather, I have played with this a little, and can't figure this out. In the Art Palette mode, how do I select the color I want to emphasize with the "One Point Color" filter?
Ok, I think I got it. It's the eye-dropper on the upper-right of the screen.
You got it! Select the eye dropper, move the box to the color you want, hit set, and your ready to shoot!
@@Shutterbug101 Thank you
I'm having trouble setting a Custom menu option.
> Choose C1 > select Yes
Now your C mode on C1 should allow you to bracket quickly!
Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Have you tutorial as well to move the pictures to your mobile? Because when I am travelling I want to use them for a social journal so I need them on my phone and I don't figure it out how to do it and how to edit them with my phone afterwards. I hope you can help me. Thanks!

Hi, I have a TZ220. I always use the viewfinder in preference to the LCD. However when I look thru the view finder my nose touches the LCD and alters the position of the focus grid (which I set to the centre of the display). How do I stop this happening please?
How do I switch between mechanical and electronic shutter mode please?
Hi. I can't figure out how to use this camera without a memory card. If I depress the shutter it tells me 'no memory card inserted' . Maybe the camera is recording the image but I can't how to review the pic.
You need a memory card for it to record any images, it does not have any internal storage.
