      "Twenty-eight Panfilov" - a historical feature film about the legendary feat of Soviet soldiers in the defense of Moscow in 1941.
      However, the tanks on the screen were not real. To naturalistically show the German Panzerkampfwagen III, the Directors bought conventional radio-controlled models, "protyuningovali" their specially manufactured parts and conducted pavilion shooting.

    They have to make more films about the eastern front of Ww2.
    I'm really tired of this Hollywood american hero shit like 'fury'.
    The eastern front was much more brutal and more interesting than the western front. 75% of the german army and their best men were fighting against the russians, who fought with all they have while on the western front allies fought often against teens and old men. But yea americans are the 'heros' of ww2. They stopped hitler alone according to hollywood.

      The main burden of the war with the Nazis in 1941-1945 fell to the Russian army. Americans and the British only in 1944 decided to enter the battlefield and entered into direct battles with the Nazis. They did it for one reason only, that the Russian army could liberate Europe without them. In this case, they could not count on the laurels of the winners. This is the real participation of Americans in the second world war. And it is not very significant. You may not believe it, but that's the military history of the 20th century.

      @@ralfweber4346 It is necessary to distinguish between the movie about the war and the facts of military history. In feature films the Director would not be to thoroughly reproduce some event. Everyday life is boring and this movie will not watch the audience. Therefore, the Director thinks out the events. So, the movie "Fury" and other war movies it is only the interpretation on the second world war. Those who are looking for accurate information about the war should not go to the movies and to a Museum or archive.

    I don't really care if this movie is 100% accurate or 100% propaganda, it was still visually exciting depicting a battle between Soviets and Germans in WW 2. I "know" it's a movie and not a real battle. In a real war things happen that aren't supposed to, and things don't happen that should happen. It is the vagaries and chance effects of reality.

      It was a real hardest war in 4 years long, and lots of hard battles, heroic feats! Simple people who went to this regiment volunteers, understood that depends on them, whether the enemy will break to the capital. If they fail their comrades, which the Panzer corps, the Germans will go into the flank. Nowhere to retreat - behind Moscow.
      So you can talk about movies about Batman or marvel comics, what could or could not be there.
      But in the war that occurred, these events are not subject to doubt. Just as you will not come to doubt the reality of "Day D", for example. Or Pearl Harbor.

In November 1941, the division of Russian General Panfilov was at the forefront of the Nazi troops ' strike on the capital of Russia - Moscow. Panfilov's soldiers became a stone wall that the Nazis could not penetrate. Part of the front where stood the soldiers of the Panfilov heroes, the Nazis are unable to move forward nor to one meter. These soldiers were true heroes not only for Russia , but for all who in those years fought with fascists the US, Britain, France and other countries. There was a war and without propaganda was not (maybe exaggerated by the number of destroyed tanks). In modern times, the press was discussing the number of Nazi tanks that were burned by Panfilov's soldiers. Someone it looked that with tanks exaggerated. Someone with these do not agree. This and other details can be argued for a long time. Indisputable is the fact that Panfilov's Division was the bravest division of the red army. They were like Rangers. They couldn't be defeated. By the way, most of them were Kazakhs and Kyrgyz by nationality. They are descendants of the great Genghis Khan. The defence sector was where the soldiers of the Panfilov was the main direction of attack of the Nazis. Panfilov fighters withstood this blow and did not let the Germans to Moscow. I give the Russian army a lot of respect for how bad of a beating they took in the beginning of the war with Germans and how bad they were pushed back they held there ground. It took them awhile to muster up enough soldiers and equipment to bring on a counter attack which was able to push the Germans back and the Germans never recovering from it.

      @Im Just One Simple Guy He's partially the reason The Germans got so deep into the USSR. Executed multiple generals a bit before Hitler showed his true colors and went to attack them, which crippled the command structure, also the terrible idea to attack Finland which had hard to navigate terrain and was buried in snow, that lost them resources and manpower which could have been used to help fight the germans.

      It shows real situation on Eastern Front in 1941.
      You know...at that time germans really just rushed like that. (cuz of blitzkrieg)
      Sometimes successfully, fast and organized (like in Kiev, Minsk and etc.) but sometimes they had to spend waves of their soldiers and tanks just on one well fortified position. (like in Brest or Bobruisk)
      Most of the time they just cutted thru tanks like T-26, T-50 and BT-5/7 but sometimes they had to fight against T-34 and KV-1 with guns of PZ-2/3...
      You know this story is about 28 soldiers who were like KV-1 against PZ-3. They held their trenches until they died. They had great rifles like SVT-40's, a lot of grenades, good position and etc.

    Any movie, and especially the military bears the element of glorification of some of the soldiers who are bravely fighting the enemy. This is an absolutely normal thing. The audience wants to see the exploits of the brave, to worry about them. The audience have sympathy for the good guys and dislike the enemies. Therefore, each country makes a movie about its heroic soldiers. In the history of any country there is an episode when their military acted as heroes. Good films about the war are interesting to watch for everyone. Decent behavior in difficult situations is understandable to all and is respected. Russian film "28 Panfilov fighters" belongs to this category of films. It is about the feat of soldiers who heroically defended the capital of their country. Behind them was Moscow. And the enemy rushed into the city. Panfilov fighters did not let the Germans in Moscow. The Nazis were never able to take over this city. One can speculate that if they had captured the Russian capital, they would have won the war. Then all its military power, the Nazis could completely throw against the UK, the US and other countries that were for the Nazis as a bone in the throat. All this did not happen because the Russian troops defeated the Nazis near Moscow. About this film "28 Panfilov fighters." They were really cool soldiers.

    • @ars5709
      @ars5709 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's right! It was the 41st year, a significant part of the country West of Moscow was occupied by the Germans. The seizure of Moscow would be a serious blow to the readiness to resist, to the infrastructure and residents. After all, many were shot, including on racial grounds, others were sent to Germany to work (so-called Ostarbeiters).
      There were almost no reserves to protect the city, so no help was sent to the soldiers. There were very few troops at that time. And it was critically important to protect the capital!
      This is one of the few good war movies that we Russians appreciate. Funds for it were collected by crowdfunding.

They repelled several attacking enemy and destroyed 18 tanks. These were the most unprecedented feats of the legendary warriors who died the death of the brave. Several people were badly injured. The battle of Dubosekovo went down in history as a feat of 28 Panfilov members. The 28 participants in this battle, who considered everyone dead, were given the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

      It would not work for a movie, too few tanks in the shot

    • @gareththompson2708
      @gareththompson2708 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IvanAlejandro99 I've heard that excuse before, and I don't buy it. How many tanks do there really need to be in a single shot? If you want to convey a sense of the scale of the fighting then pull out for a wide shot that shows a full platoon of 4/5 tanks spread out over a couple hundred meters. If you shoot the formation side-on in an open plain you could even get a full company in the shot. Otherwise it would not be too difficult to have intense yet realistic onscreen combat while only showing one or two tanks at a time.
      I keep hearing creatives making excuses for why realism wouldn't work for their material. But every time I hear that I can't help but remember that the most realistic games and movies are by far the best ones. Those that really have a passion for the history can usually make realism work just fine within a compelling and dramatic story. Those that make excuses for why it wouldn't work are too prideful to admit that they just didn't know any better, and either lack the creativity to break out of the mindset of "how it's always been done" or are too lazy to try.
      Ultimately realism has no substantive impact on the drama of a story. But for those of us that know what things should look like a lack of realism can pull us out of the story, and remind us that we are watching a movie at a time when we should instead be completely immersed. Plus realism just shows us that the creative team took pride in representing a period of history. And that's always nice to see.

These heroes were called "Panfilov" by the name of the commander of the 316th division, General Ivan Panfilov (3 days after the events of the film, he was killed by a shell fragment at his command post). When I watched the film in 2016, I was surprised that the general himself was never mentioned in the film.

    An investigation by Soviet authorities was carried out in 1948 and since declassified, revealed that the story of the 28 was a fabrication. The claimed German casualties were not confirmed in German or Soviet operational documents and the Germans fulfilled their day's objectives well before the end of the day. Not all the twenty eight were killed - six of the soldiers were still alive. One of them was arrested in 1947 on charges of high treason and confessed to having "voluntarily" surrendered to German troops and to having later joined a German police force. The findings were kept secret and the Twenty-Eight Guardsmen remained national heroes.

      Information about the fact that not all Panfilov fighters were killed, that even one survivor while in captivity began to cooperate with the enemy is not news. Just as these circumstances do not change the meaning of the battle in which Panfilov fighters steadfastly held the defense on Volokolamsk highway. Along this road the Germans tried to break through to Moscow. This direction was the place of the main blow. There were the most fierce clashes of the battle of Moscow. The result of these fights the following: Germans to Moscow didn't break. This is the merit of Panfilov fighters. The presence of differences in the number of soldiers, the number of tanks they hit, and the fact that someone was captured does not change anything in this story. War is not a pharmacy, where it is known precisely and thoroughly all know who that was discharged and in what quantity. There are many inaccuracies in war. There are a lot of cases when a person is considered killed, and he remained alive.

    I think Stugs/pz4/panthers n tigers more likely than panzer threes but depends..
    Certainly the Germans realised the panzer three was outdated after the first few years...that's not to say they didn't use them as sometimes you had to use what you had...

    • @rusmorpeh3314
      @rusmorpeh3314 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There were NO Tigers or Panthers in 1941. And there were only earlier versions of Pz III/IV and Stugs with 30-50mm armour at that time. Actually, this time German Panzerwaffe were armed worse than Red Army's tank units but they had an anvantage in experience, training and tactics, that's why the Red Army suffered such heavy losses in 1941 and allowed the Germans to go so far.

    Interesting how in russian movies they are always "desperate" but, at the end, they manage to easily kill 10 panzer with just one molotov bottle! ( By the way, germans did not use their panzer to protect infantry and for sure they werent used to run them at just 10 Km/h, as you can see here! )

    • @faheem65asss
      @faheem65asss 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      How fast do you think WW2 tanks could go...across deep snow, without damaging their transmission. This is pretty accurate to how Infantry and armor would work in tandem. Perhaps the Germans would have half tracks to help the infantry drive up, but considering the lack of mechanization in the Wermacht, this is a plausible scenario? Also if advancing across open ground, the infantry would be in support of the tanks and thus behind the armor. until they could fan out and attack the trench, it is not out of the question that they would have Armor protecting the infantry. Finally, the Soviets have Zis anti tank guns and PTSDs at close range. Both of which were easily capable of knocking out a PZIV at the range depicted.
      I do agree these movies are often leaning towards the Russian, but in this scene, not much out of the ordinary is happening. The germans attack a trench, get flanked lose 3 to 4 tanks, 20/30 men. Withdraw in good order.
