That was some awesome scrambling. I’ve never watched anyone do the scramble defense Garcia performed when your opponent is on a single leg. Usually you’d think you would end up on your butt and give up the 2, but Garcia jumped over and caught that leg, completing the conversion. I wanna try that.
Doug Muntz, in late 80's to early 90's New state was 11 super sections, you had to win super sectional tournament in your weight class to go to States. No small or large school division. I'm not sure how it is today
I once witnessed a guy win his 3rd state title by taking a shot, take down, would get the 2 points, then let his opponent up giving up 1 point, just kept repeating. Wrestling is the ultimate sport, just you, your opponent and the mat.
When someone is THAT dominant in high school--and it is still pretty rare, you almost wonder if it can work against them. I mean, some guy who started improving as a freshman in HS, and keep on improving right up to his senior year in college--sometimes passes the guy who "never lost before", or so it seems to me. But the bottom line is--let's see if he "dominates" in college; one thing for sure, even if he does, he will never be THIS dominant at the college level--which I'm sure, he knows.
113? I was 103. Many times I cut weight = not eating for days, can't drink own spit, hours of garbage bags stuck to body and hard pt. When I wrestled I was so weak I was really useless. I did win almost half of matches but I got out cause I didn't want to be 4' 9" at 30 years of age like my coach. I would've stayed in if I could wrestle at my God given weight. Waste of time other than the fact I can usually guys down twice my size.
@@ret1der I saw a buddy who stayed in wrestling and went state meets even national, he's less than 5' tall cause he cut weight so much. Cutting weight stunts growth. Can't cut weight during growing years.
