Ash, what a well done and thorough video. It's kind of funny that i came across this video, i am putting away my summer shoes and boots and bringing out my winter footwear today.

My fantasy boot would be a Nick’s Dress Packer. I don’t ride horses, but they look nice!

Love the subtle colour contrast between your pocket square and your boutonniere. The devil is in the detail Ash. Well done.

My 'phantasy boot' is a hobbnailed boot from William LENNON & Sons in Hope Valley, in the Peak District. As they are in the 200 GBP-bracket, they are not beyond reach. It is an underrated footwear maker, with no-nonsense products that are built to last. And they are still made in Britain!

Fabulous as always Ash. I really like the Burgundy/Mahogany Grain leather boots. Loake 1880 have a boot called the Bedale which I'm considering. It's not cheap but should last decades.

Buy the Bedale ... I have ... it is excellent ! ... yes, it will last, for a very long time.

Fantasy boot? 30 eyelet knee length black DM's/Solovair's with yellow stitching. I actually picked a pair up a pair of Made in England Solovair size 11, the last pair in London, from the British Boot Company in Camden a couple of weeks ago. A fascinating shop steeped in history and popular culture and a fantasy fulfilled.

Brogue boots are best, after all.

Wonderful choices, Ash! I especially liked the unusual patent leather chukka. It conveys a certain "olden days" aura, not unlike button boots.
My current favorite for autumn/winter is a black "George boot" by Allen Edmonds, a sort of hybrid between chukka and monk strap, fitted with a rugged commando sole. Basically indestructible.

Wow - that is a mighty Loake collection and some very beautiful models. I think the 1880 range is overlooked and they make some excellent shoes/boots for the price.

I liked your comments on brogued shoes and boots showing dirt and such less than plainer styles due to their more complex patterning. Something I hadn't thought of before.

Dear Sir! I am a new fan of Your reviews from Poland and I must say I just admire the way You describe and talk about items with unique style elegancy and honesty. I found Your channel by accident looking for Pinaud Clubman aftershave review and stayed forever 😊 I have a humble request also ... Sir would You be so kind and do the Reuzel aftershave and Reuzel brushless shave cream someday, very please?! These have some great ingredients and quality and I would love to see and listen to Your opinion Sir. Take care and I send You much respect! Thank You! 🙏❤

Ash another good episode thanks I cant get along with Wellington boots, and never with a suit, as they make my feet sweat, rubber wont let your piggies breath My top choices are Chukka C&J Brecon, good enough for Mr Bond and much better then wellies, with your suit Off road hiking etc Altberg and they make boots for UK Army too And then casual William Lennon make in the peak district to order, well worth the wait !!! ALL made in UK

    Great selection Ash.
For winter I have a pair of Brasher Hillmaster I wear mostly.
For really bad weather, Altberg High leg combat boots.
More formally, Chocolate Brown Thomas Partridge Henlow or Clarks Brogued boots in mid-tan leather.
If it gets really wet, Dunlop Wellies (ex-RAF)

Great video and selection of boots/shoes. My dream boot is the Alden Indy in #8 cordovan... Although I recently thrifted the pairs of Weekend in black cordovan: a pair of tankers, a pair of captoe boots and some captoe oxfords, all of which are in like new condition! Really, really wanting some #8 Indy boots though!!! I have a couple of jodhpurs which are great this time of year. As are she brogues with lug soles.

Excellent video(as always). One thing you missed is that with a fine boot collective you should have a relationship with a good cobbler. Also, as someone that is into good heritage boots(Alden, Viberg) I would recommend Grant Stone. Surprisingly well made at a good price.

Fantastic video Ash! I have to say that once again your seasonal footwear choices very closely mirror my own. My current rotation for the cooler months include the C&J Pembroke brogue, and the Coniston boot. I love my pair of RM Williams comfort craftsmen in black, as worn in Australian military service dress. I also am a big fan of the Loake 1880 Kempton chukka. My final pair of true winter boots are a pair of Le Chameau Vierzonord wellies. I wore these every day for nine months wintering on Macquarie Island with the Australian Antarctic Department, and just love them to bits! My grail pierce of footwear? I'm currently saving up for a pair of discontinued C&J Lanark 1 shoes made to order with J&FJ Baker's marvellous Russian Calf... Thank you again sir for your wonderful contribution to the menswear community!

Great selection. I like tuning in to your channel as I'm in rural Canada and find many similarities. Im currently in full wingtip brogues with commando style soles. My boots for autumn are blundstones and for wet days, rubber Chelsea Boots (bogs). I'd love some wingtip boots and commando boots like what you have. In winter I bring my wingtips to the office. It's a sad day.

I think you have a less forgiving climate than I'm facing here, but a chap can still stand out in any situation and it sounds like you have achieved that by wearing footwear of elegance.

Man cannot live on sneakers alone. The same goes for slippers, house shoes and Crocs. You also need REAL shoes. PROPER shoes. The kind of shoes that are sometimes colloquially called "hard bottoms" because for so long they were made with leather soles that were pretty hard--at least until you broke them in. Love the Clarks Craftmasters. Thank you!

Hi Ash, another great informative video. Do you know the make of the plain leather dark brown/ox blood chukka boots you showed just before the patent leather chukka boots, are they Loakes ? Keep up the excellent videos, look forward to the videos each week, Neil.

I live in the tropics, so it's summertime and less summertime... but one can always wear good shoes. It would be great if you could leave a link to the shoes (maybe on amazon so you can make an extra $$) so that we can purchase.

Another great video Ash. What about wearing those broge books with a suit? I saw a comment on a fb group for Allen Edmonds that said no. But they used to wear them in Edwardian times. What is Your thoughts?. Cheers Ron

Hi Ash, again a good content!
May I ask regarding shoe fits
Have you ever owned a decade or 2 old shoes? Did the fit changes?(uncomfortably)
Doctors say our feet size changes overtime
With long term use in mind, I'm contemplating on buying a G width in my size.(though I'm an F width) Should I go for G or stick to F width?
    Million thanks

    • @TheChapsGuide
      @TheChapsGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes I do have shoes that are decades old and have been resoled 3-times in one situation. Whilst the foot does indeed change shape over the years, I have found that the natural elasticity in good quality leather means that the leather changes shape with the foot and actually becomes an even better fit as the years progress. The better quality of the shoe, the more likelihood this will take place.
