- It was perhaps first concert of Ustad Tari Khan as a vocalist.
It was organised in February, 2011, when we invited him for the 'Concert for Peace' India Tour in the memory of Nawab Khan, famous Tabla player, who was killed by terrorists in Afghanistan.
He presented many Ghazals immortalised by his Guru in 'Vocal Music' Shahensha-i-Ghazal Mehdi Hassansahab.
He is accompanied by Ustad Aasif Ali Khan on Sarangi, Zameer Ahmed Khan on Harmonium, Athar Hussain Khan on Tabla and Imrat on the KeyBoard.
This piece is a ghazal penned by Hasrat Mohani- "kaise chhupaun raaz-e-gham dida-e-tar ko kya karun".
Venue was Sai International Auditorium of New Delhi.

Partition was not only necessary but imperative, look at the way Muslims are being treated in India they are treated worse than Dalits, another partition is bound to happen and inevitable if racism is not tackled in the this wretched third world sewerage which people call India.

I listened to him few years ago from few feet away in private gathering. Glad that he sang few on my request. He has good control on his voice. He played tabla for short time with many variations. Truly a master.

Regardless of being just a tabla player he knows the music entirely. This ghazal and the variations in it show his information about music.
First time i saw tari khan saheb singing and it was a good experince ...nice tonal quality and voice...

I m ardent listener of tari sb tabla. I would suggest him to just focus on tabla playing. Singing ghazal is a difficult job. Hats off to true legend Ustad Mehdi hassan.

I have so many respect for you as a Master of tabla player. You have so great great tabla player then why you are attempting this ghazal which is only sute King of ghazal Ustad Mehdi Hassan sab. And it is not a joke to sing with his gayaki. So i have a humble request to you please don't sing this type of song.

You are right in a way. Not that he has not sung it well but one tends to compare it wth the original and then it looks not so nice to copy the maestro. NO one can come anywhere near the maestro. One must never try to copy. But it can be a tribute to Mehdi sahib by his student. Let us take it that way.
Tari khan is a great tabla player I love his tabla. But his singing is totally out of ( sur). I am surprised to see the comments of people who are liking his singing l think they are innocent fans and don’t know about sur( rhymes).
