Just FYU: Panopticon can only be considered as an "all seeing eye" in a metaphoric sense; its actually a form of architecture in which an entire institution can be watched without residents knowing when or if they are being watched. Classically it consists of a central observation building surrounded by a rotunda in which the observed conduct themselves. Jeremy Bentham, the philosopher and social theorist who came up with the concept, primarily advocated its use in prison design but also noted it could be used in hospitals, asylums, and even schools. Construction of this nature was generally disregarded after the advent of CCTV surveillance came into widespread use.
Also, the concept was made well known today by Michel Foucault in the book Discipline and punish, in which he argued that many social institutions function like a panopticon, even before the use of CCTV.
Pat not even trying to decipher what the redacted words in letters might be, based on context clues, and just giving up and saying "heh" or "something or whatever" shows how his brain works more than it might seem at first.
2:46:27 CRAZY TALK ACTIVATED! Took a whole year but now that Yakuza 7 is out we all get to enjoy watching Pat play TURN BASED YAKUZA 7... best of all? That game is fucking fantastic despite the skeptical reations people may have had pre-launch.
Need to add to the inevitably myriad comments pointing out that Finnish and Swedish are completely unrelated languages and Finnish has more in common with Hungarian than it does with the rest of Scandinavia.
Really been enjoying these, Pat. I am late at the party like you can't imagine, but seeing this LP has sold me on "Control". 100% gonna get it as soon as I can afford the expense and the time.
19:50 By Pat's logic, he should have no concerns being called an American. Literally exactly the same scenario - share a land border and official language.
Wait, hold up. Maybe this'll be disproved down the line, but given the multiple mentions of the real-world "Sonic Weapon Attack" in Cuba's American Embassy, which in this game is down to an OOP, I assume it's important. The games say that this was a sonic OOP that was recently brought to the bureau, and caused mental discomfort, auditory hallucinations, and cellular damage. To me, that sounds like it's the source or inciting incident of the Hiss. Hiss, as in, the noise snakes make. And the note Pat read said that the OOP causing those sonic vibrations was a cowboy boot. "There's a snake in my boot!"
It was an Altered item not an OOP also fun fact that Altered Item was based off a real incident that happened in 2017...with another repeating in China...a year later? I believe
Its so hard to find info on this game since its new. I been trying to scrape to find info on the Threshold Kids tapes. I dont have the budget to buy and play this game but I need to know more.
Another thing to point out is the janitor has something that's branded... the "Pony Walkman" meaning it disobeys the "archetypal symbolism" rule... I've also mentioned last VOD that he also doesn't have a Hiss negation chest rig... The question is, is he a spirit of the Oldest House, related to the Hiss... or something else entirely. I'm going for the latter.
That first go in the training grounds was fucking infuriating. The red light. The very clearly Target. The signs that say keep out shooting range danger. The fact that the voice calls you a Ranger. Very clear. Jesus dude.

SPOILERS Absolutely. NSC, and you never get told what the N stands for. Coincidentally, an NPC mentions a previous director, Northmoor (same guy that was all about power), has no registered date of death. Plus everyone talks about the power plant as though it were a person. It's all but confirmed
Finnish and Swedish are completely different language groups, Pat. They're more different from each other than French and English. They're more different than French and Portuguese You can't really speak either, but I figured it would be a fitting comparison none-the-less. Also the nations border at the ARCTIC CIRCLE in an area that has some of the lowest population density on the planet. It's like comparing the Canadian border with Alaska. Yes there's a lot of Swedes and Swedish history in to Finland, but it's still fairly different and NOT SCANDINAVIAN, PERKELE! th-cam.com/video/z7_pVrIshxA/w-d-xo.html ALSO also: Ohio and Idaho are like 2000 miles (3000+km) away from each other. 1:00:00 the only thing that doesn't really jive is that the Oldest House must have existed for a long time (centuries?) before the Bureau became its nanny, and nothing terrible happened, at least nothing the story tells us about
Pat walks into a shooting range
"What do you even want!"
Omg he's so blind in this episode. I just watched him run the training course in reverse to get back to the start. So blind. Blind.
Welcome back to *[REDACTED]* with your host, *[REDACTED]*
I'm sure you will experience enjoyment/frustration as our Director/Ginger leads us to victory/madness.
Crazy talk could very well be the equivalent to the phenomenon this game has

2:15:27 an SCP thats a bottomless bottle of disinfectant, and it actually kills 100% of germs
Sitruk86 harmless to everything but germs, odorless, non toxic, tastes like water with lemon, safe to bathe in.
Wouldn't be an scp
Up to and including eukaryotic cells of sapient organisms.
sounds more like something that interdimensional vending machine would spit out if you try to feed it lemon slices.

TRUE

"There's a snake in my boot!"
Thats so many massive jumps in logic that you might be right, since this is basically a Remedy game with SCPs...
It was Woody all along
It was an Altered item not an OOP also fun fact that Altered Item was based off a real incident that happened in 2017...with another repeating in China...a year later? I believe

Its likely that he’s connected to the oldest house rather than the hiss, because you find reports that talk about him that predate the Hiss.
Did Pat literally not notice it said "Night Springs" at 1:10:40. Wasn't that the TV show on Alan Wake if I recall correctly?
They are..connected
Pat's anger at the chat about Yakuza 7 is extremely funny on rewatching this lol.
Adventures of Pat the Australian continues in the spookhouse.
I thought Paige was pretty neat, but her going off on Pat at 19:30 made me love her.

Garbage dogs will live forever. I think it was pat who described the ideal dog as looking something along the lines of "is that even a dog?"
Threshold kids give me fucking nightmares.
It seems like Pat's malfunctioning for this day of recording.
Calling it before I get through the video; the power plant is literally the old director because he was "all about power."

15:56 wtf is this bullshit? pat starting a game in under 20 minutes?
i literally just finished part one fuck yeah
Yea usually it's an hour in..Good news everyone!
Pat, Finns belong to completely different ethnic group than Swedes. Finnish isn't related to nearly any European language.
Who cares.
@@FelineRed Who cares about the difference between Quebec and France?
@Essence Wolf okay, to be fair, discounting Quebec, Canada is basically off-brand America.
Finland’s barely a country

couldn't you call it a...

Gosh dang it pat, Sweden is a Björk and Finland is a Pjorkele.
