All aboard that "A" train Soon you'll be on Sugar Hill in Harlem I'm in New York City, I go see theater I love N-Y T-shirts, say they love me too Ha, ha, and maybe I'll hit the shops on old 5th Avenue I go sight-seeing, I go see Miss Liberty Wicked, rent to Legally Blonde Hairspray, these are my favorite plays New York, start spreading the news This is where I'm meant to be
WillieIIIreborn yeah, the song has evolved a lot over time - and this is updated too but mostly the same. I was just giving a little tongue-in-cheek though. Glad you’ve found yourself here at this song - it’s an excellent cover.
There isn't a single voice everyone likes. But I think it's important to be respectful even though you disagree with other people's music taste. Maybe Jazz isn't your thing, but a simple "It's not to my taste" will suffice, no need to bash the singer, she is obviously a great singer to many people here (myself included).
Ce qui me plait particulièrement c'est qu'elle swingue ternaire en flirtant avec le binaire. It's THE modern-swing ! ... et jolie fille avec ça ! BRAVO !
I agree with comments made that she is more rnb style than jazz, this is true. However by no means does it make it bad, i think she adds her flavour to this song and I enjoy listening to it. Her debut album is very good as well.
Around there's so much to see In New York City May we a'leave it to the "A" train To go to Sugar Hill way up in Harlem, yeah Hurry, get on board, get on board, it's coming Can't you hear those rails a-thrumming? All aboard that "A" Train Soon you'll be on Sugar Hill in Harlem, yeah
+Mojo Maximus Billy Strayhorn wrote the tune on the subway to Duke Ellington's apartment in 1939 and he penned lyrics shortly after, but they were finalized by one of Ellington's singers (Joya Sherrill) in 1944.
Taihei Ishikawa No the problem is she is young so while she has techinical prowess she lacks the life experience(s) that Ella had to inject into her singing. When she's lived some years she'll mature and I think will add some real depth to her singing. Jackie Evancho (whom I has not liking for, but can sing, has the problem I think).
This is an incredibly difficult song for a vocalist. I think she does it magnificently.
RobertE.
yes
2eleven48 oh yeah it is. And feck yeah she did.
The scatting is pretty difficult, but else it is about average difficulty, I would say!
What a delightful voice, glad to see this generation is still into what we will soon consider the classics!
I think Duke Ellington would greatly approve of this performance.
I don't know what I enjoy more about this song, the band's performance, or Nikki's!
They compliment each other very well.
I stumbled onto this video the other day, and I'm now a huge fan of Ms. Yanofsky. And this arrangement is absolutely dynamite.
That's some precise singing.
God bless you

If anyone here doesn’t know the lyrics to jazz standards, they don’t deserve ‘em.
WillieIIIreborn yeah, the song has evolved a lot over time - and this is updated too but mostly the same. I was just giving a little tongue-in-cheek though. Glad you’ve found yourself here at this song - it’s an excellent cover.
WillieIIIreborn the false-chord growl on “Harlem”... so good
magnifique simplement!
vraiment bien!!
BRAVO , super , il y a du rhytme de Harry Connick
Ok I’m in love
This girl sings very well .for I had the pleasure of playing in a jazz band, and we shall play at the same time.
There isn't a single voice everyone likes. But I think it's important to be respectful even though you disagree with other people's music taste. 조아조아 너무 조아...
I have to sing this song in school and it is sooo difficult😭😭😭😱
her irresistible...
I'm curious as to when lyrics were written for this wonderful Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn composition? Anybody know?
+Mojo Maximus Billy Strayhorn wrote the tune on the subway to Duke Ellington's apartment in 1939 and he penned lyrics shortly after, but they were finalized by one of Ellington's singers (Joya Sherrill) in 1944.
+Matt Feltner Good to know. Thanks.
DAMN!!!! Hit me up
Nikki is a great singer!
Great interpretation, but I think her voice suits better with Musical Theatre.
No, she have the right voice and technique for this.
She's only 10 years too young.
I really believe she is the successor of queen Ella.
giserke vermeulen
Check Roberta Gambarini
Taihei Ishikawa No the problem is she is young so while she has techinical prowess she lacks the life experience(s) that Ella had to inject into her singing. true..but she really do a good job here
I agree she sounds too R&B and kinda pop. Can't put my finger on what style it is but her voice is a bit off putting.
