    Attach a durable string or flexible wire to a screwdriver. Have one person hold the screwdriver underneath the hoop while another person marks the line with the taut string/wire.

      Yes... A Durable string works quiet well.
      That's a Lot of 2x4's. Lol

    Did you find that your line paint bled under the tape at all? It did you do something to seal the tape lines to prevent bleeding?

  • @michaelbrunet6172

    What string do you use that stretches at 23'?? I use my snap line to trace out the 3 pt. line and then use a guy (me) who is a professional and we paint the line tracing the marks. The center of the hoop is where the beginning of the radius is. The last 3' towards the end line is straight. All that tape and cutting is wasting a lot of time. Mark it, snap the end lines and stripe the line. Use a small tip and go for it!!

      Snap the end lines? As a very novice painter seems like the tape is alot but I feel more comfortable doing it this way.

    Hi Dave, thanks for the vid
    With the 3 point line, how do u tape before u cut? would it work with a pencil attached to the end of the compass?

    • @davidwirth3625
      @davidwirth3625  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, I used the giant compass (without the knife)to place a wide swath of tape in the area that I wanted. A pencil could work, but the purpose of the tape is to provide a smooth border for painting. This provided a really clean edge to my 3 point arc.

    • @davidwirth3625
      @davidwirth3625  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just cover the general area with tape. My first attempt was a pencil on a string and I was unsuccessful. There was too much play in the string.

    • @yankees6970

      He tapes the area where the carpet cutter blade is going to travel. Then the cutter cuts the tape and he peels it away. He mentions he does it twice, 2 inches apart.

      Thanks for the comment. I actually looked into stencils at first but didn't want to pay the $200 - $300 for a decent set. This method cost less than $10 and surprisingly didn't take as long as you might think.

    are there any other way to avoid drilling the hole on the floor?

    • @davidwirth3625
      @davidwirth3625  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      great question, I'm sure you could just hold a phillips screwdriver down hard for the pivot point but I didnt want to take the chance. I drilled a small hole with masonary bit. You can fill the hole in or just leave it. I left it and dont notice it. It fills in natually with sand and dirt.

    • @HLXanthus
      @HLXanthus 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Wirth actually, 3ft from out of bounds to the front of the back board. Then 18in to the center of the rim. Then it is 19ft9in to standard high school 3pt arc. I find it easier to measure out from the backboard for the free throw line the 15ft, then add the 6ft radius at the top of the key. Then measure back the 19ft9in from there (amounts to the same thing).

      RC Street Drift this is certainly true. In USA high school is 19ft9i, NCAA is 20ft9in and NBA is 23ft9in. All from the center of the rim. What is found internationally is outside my knowledge base.
