    Section 16 of the Emergency Act states that Threats to the Security of Canada are defined in Section 2 of the CSIS Act .
    So where was the Threat to the Security of Canada ? There never was one .
    There were other laws in Canada that could address any illegal activities that occurred during the protests .
    The Emergency Act was illegally invoked .

    Funny his comments about the notwithstanding clause ... there wouldn’t be a Charter at all if there hadn’t been a notwithstanding clause, and I never really appreciated its purpose until the past few years of seeing his government and courts adopt positions that do not reflect the views of many Canadians or of provincial governments.

    Imagine being lawyer , in front of a real judge , and saying you used a media article , that used illegally obtained information , as part of the Section 58(1) Explanation of the Emergency Act , to remove the Charter Rights from Sovereign Canadian Citizens . What do you think a judge would say ? Find another career ?

    i'm a poor immigrant, came to montreal only speaking spanish, and I'm able to speak better english than Legaut.

    • @dextrosebizarre
      @dextrosebizarre 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good for you if you speak English better than Legault. Then it s your choice to live in French in Quebec or in English in rest of Canada. Many Mexican do this choice and are happy because they connect with our Latin way of life, other prefer Canada. And I can tell you that many more Francophones can speak to you in Spanish than Anglo-Canadians. So it also tells that Quebecois are not as narrow minded as some Anglos pretend we are. I wish you best luck in the the important decisions you have to make.

    The Anglophone community has always challenged Quebec laws in court, made threats, and blackmail, has destroyed Quebec's reputation abroad...under such circumstances, the anglophone community will always be despised...

    • @DonaldMains
      @DonaldMains 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, the CAQ and PQ are more than capable of destroying Quebec’s reputation abroad without any help from the Anglo community. The OQLF single handedly put back Quebec’s reputation to the Dark Ages with the ridiculous Pastagate affair. Creating widespread national and international derision of Quebec. No help was needed there by the Anglos, it was all a self-inflicted Quebecois wound. In fact, the Anglo community has been the lone voice of reason that has been a bulwark to support Quebec’s reputation. Given a feckless federal government, Anglos had to rely on the courts to preserve rights guaranteed all Canadians. Hey, when the United Nations rules against you, you know you might have gone too far. The Anglo community correctly predicted that Bil 101 and Bill 96, and all the iterations between, would further alienate business and the entire non-Quebecois communities and cause people and business to go elsewhere. Voila, in five short decades Montreal lost primacy to Toronto and Vancouver and Calgary are rapidly catching up to Montreal. It took no Anglos to drive away every bank, financial institution, and multinational company out of Montreal to Toronto. The PQ did it all on their own.
      On a personal level, if you channeled all your bitterness to productive activities, it might help you get ahead in life. Even if doesn’t drive more personal success at least you’d be happier. Something to think about.

    Cultural modes of expression don't belong in the hands of Politicians. If Montreal became English "naturally", it would be WRONG for Quebec to interfere with that outcome. That's why I'm furious with Quebec -- their political oppression ruined my life, so I have the right to to call them "Franco-fascists". The irony is, I'm of French descent, so I'm punished for the choices my French-Quebecois mother made. Jean-Yves Chouinard is my estranged biological father -- the one who wrote the words to the Separatist anthem of Quebec. Put this IRONY in your Archives.

      You don t care about assimilation and anglo-americanization of society. Good for you. Some people on the other hand are still proud of their Nation and want their original culture to prevail , in their home, Quebec, and their most important city, Montreal. Montreal without the French-Canadian would be Toronto alike. Just another big cosmopolitan city of North America. So, I don’t get it when people complain about French in Montreal while they have redt of Canada to settle down. Windsor, Hamilton , TO, Vancouver , Calgary, and so and do…

      Most Anglo-Quebecois learned French at school, and a substancial percentage can speak French, but still sone can’t. And most Franco-Quebecois know English in Montreal, but not that much to in rest of Quebec because they don t have to. And Anglo-Canadians, Americans and International students from abroad except France don’t know French and they don t care much. . That s are the facts.,
