I absolutely love mine. I don't understand why people do have negative comments about this product... But anyway, people always have something complain about everything...
I live in northern Minnesota and it gets to -50 here...I have this jacket in black and it keeps me very warm in extremely cold weather, so it performs much more competently than this review states.
+Brett Hartley Thanks Brett! I was thinking about getting one of these for the winter here in Chicago. So thats good news! It looks too thin to keep me warm, but thats good to hear.
+Gabe Sanchez I bought one, and I have been very comfortable in weather below 32°C here in Chicagoland. Winter hasn't really hit us yet, as you know, because it is been pretty nice out still. But I have worn it when it's been windy in the 20s, and it's kept me very warm.

CivilVigil I returned the jacket. It is very thin, not useful for all Winter Wear, especially in Chicago. It's a nice spring jacket, but I did not like it. I bought an Aconcagua instead

There seems to be virtually no filling at the quilting seams. Granted, the quilting is there to keep the filling in place but is there much heat loss because of this?
I can’t believe the price tag on this coat. I just went to the NF store in NYC. This $200 jacket is made in Vietnam and it’s the same jacket as the Amazon Essentials one I bought for $35! Unbelievable.
I love mine it replaced a much heavier jacket, looks amazing and super warm and light. I have to see if it can keep me warm in 20F degree cold weather. Specs show down to 40F so not sure if it will be warm by itself down to 20F. We shall find out.
Depends on what you want. I have ordered one without the hood to use as a mid-layer under a Gore-Tex jacket. Using as a mid-layer the hood would just get in the way. Also it means when using as a standalone jacket I can use whatever hat/beanie I want and the high collar will still keep my neck covered.
I found it to breath well, better then my TNF blue ridge paclite (which is just a Gore-Tex shell) while biking uphill. I don't have a down jacket of similar weight to compare it to.
Adam K leepakim With respect to breathability, this is really not something that I look for in a down jacket. When wearing down, I'm seeking a warm jacket for 'sedentary' activities, such as walking, standing around camp, warming up after training, etc.I'm I'm going to be heating up and perspiring, I wear a jacket suited to that activity (simple shell). That being said, the Ghost Whisperer has never gotten moist on the inside from sweat or anything like that.As it is not inherently a 'waterproof' garment, it lacks the membrane that would make it watertight (and hence, less breatheable). Long story short, it seems quite breathable, but again, that's a secondary consideration in a down jacket.
***** i've been wearing mine with a regular hoodie/jumper underneath in the coldest days of upto minus 0 and been fine on the go, it's really effective
Are any of the big outdoor clothing companies producing their goods in their own countries such as Europe and the US? Me personally, I don't know of any? The best made outdoor jacket I have is a paramo, made in south America! Absolute quality! Check the label in the jackets of the big names, MADE IN CHINA. I don't have a problem with that, I do have a problem how much they're charging for it!
Outdoor gear made in the US or Europe? I really have no idea! The Americans like most have sent their production to south east Asia and China. It's mostly the poor countries of the world manufacturing all the big names in outdoor clothing, apart from maybe boots? The Germans and Italians are still making them, Zamberlan and Meindl.
... i don't get it. you are supposed to wear it in the 0-10 degrees range? seriously? i wear a hoody in these temperatures, what sounds more ridiculous is that you wear it under ANOTHER coat. my columbia coat looks almost identical to your black one in the video and the only thing i wear under it is a shirt at -20 Celsius. i was hoping for a new lightweight jacked to wear during our russian winters, but this seems like a waste of money to me. thanks for the information.
Try Columbia Alaskan 2 Down Hooded Jacket. Super warm and comfortable. I had to return mine though because there were feathers going out through the stitchlines and it pissed me off..I am missing my jacket though :)
You're welcome Dima Shur. For the record, I have not personally wore my Thermoball under a down jacket. It's just an option for those who want to be really warm. Thanks for watching!
Adam K I am having an exchange year in Lithuania and they say that in february it may even drop down to -30 Celcius and -20 Celcius is very normal. Do you think wearing a thick fleece pullover underneat would be enough for that kind of weather? Parkas are extremely expensive and I won't probably be using it after this year, so could you recommend me something that wouldn't at least let me die? :D

Vietnam? I guess that makes a real difference?! I'm afraid like most crap northface gear these days, that looks no different! I have been wearing their gear for about 20 years, their quality has deteriorated, as too their style, as clearly shown with this jacket! Premium price, but this isn't reflected in quality, or the wage paid to the poor folk who make them! Not good!

best jacket i've ever bought... its weight coupled with warmth is outstanding

Brett Hartley hello I Wanna ask Something I have a thermabol north face NOT Pro 700 or etc. Does it keep me warm even the weather is -20 celcius
Oh, that’s a relief. I thought this review sounded sketchy.
The best jacket!! For lifetime!!
are you selling it or doing a review?

David Bruce I bought this jacket today because I live in Chicago also. I'm wondering if it's a bad buy because it looks very thin

David Bruce 32 C is boiling !!
32 deg celcius? That's freaking hot! Lol you meant farenheit.
I love mine. I use it as a mid layer riding my motorcycle to work and as my outside jacket during the workday.

what was the jacket you put on over the thermoball?

Hi i have my jacket mine is purple n the hate to match. I love the jacket.
Is THermoball warmer than primaloft GOLD?
yes
How does this compare to the thermoball that comes with the tri 3 in 1?
Juan ViralVid its the same thermoball used in the 3 in 1
Just order mine thanks 😊
i don't have this jacket but look better with a hood around your neck..keep your head warm?
kntwing people use this jacket for fashion

How did you find the breathability of it. I heard it doesn't breath as well as down?

Adam K what about the Moutain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer?
leepakim you will have to ask Stephan Meyer about the Ghost Whisperer as he is the one that tested that particular jacket for GetOutThereGear

1:41 Yo dawg, I heard you like winter jackets, so I made a winter jacket for your winter jacket, so you can stay warm, while staying warm.
Will this jacket keep me warm at 2 degrees Celsius? Or do I have to wear layers under it?
***** i've been wearing mine with a regular hoodie/jumper underneath in the coldest days of upto minus 0 and been fine on the go, it's really effective
Probably a sweater under it
Perfect, I have used mine below 0.

Is this jacket really warm enough? I tried one at the store at store and it just seems way too thin/light to be sufficiently warm enough.
I'll take Primaloft every time! My Rab Generator walks all over that...

I hope you're on #thenorthface payroll, because nobody will take your phony review at face value or buy from your store.
Get a life.
