My heart says South Africa but my head tells me New Zealand. As much as I’d love to see the Boks lift the cup once again, it seems that Siya & the boys are fatigued especially after those 2 monstrous clashes against France & England. I hope the Boks can do it again but hey, if there’s 1 team that I wouldn’t mind losing to then it’s the All Blacks. Whatever happens on Saturday, the All Blacks to me are still the most exciting & electrifying team in world rugby. South Africa have their unique qualities like our scrum and line outs but the ABs make rugby look like art. If they win it’s because they deserve it. Much respect to Sam Whitelock on becoming the most capped player in the game. The man’s longevity & consistency is worthy of praise. Let’s go Bokke 🇿🇦🏆 All the best to the ABs👍🏻

Interesting suggestion with regards to selecting the quarterfinal matchups. I would suggest, however, that the quarterfinals are decided based on the rankings after the pool play, and not before the cup starts. A week is a long time in rugby, and gamesmanship could easily come into it, especially if a certain team loses key personal to injury, or want to rest ahead of the knockouts. If you're ranked 1 pre tournament and then you're definitely going to qualify for the quarters going into the final round of pool play, what incentive is there for you to play your best players and end top of the pool?

I will say that there is something more than just representing your country about being a All black or a springbok. I think this is the deciding factor of why these two teams do so well at world cups.
With the greatest respect to the northern hemisphere teams, I don’t think it’s quite the same representing their countries.
There is a history and a tradition, that lifts an Allblack or a springbok to an almost immortal level. And I firmly believe that drives these two teams to dig deep and lift to another level come World Cup time.
You can see it in the respect as well when these two teams player. They know what it’s like to be in the other shoe. I think Ireland found a little bit this World Cup, but sadly not enough for them to get through.

Think the AB’s are timing this one to perfection ~ condition wise
Our main manne in the Bokke Camp are weary…battle weary
its a plus, more than the downside though
Its : EMPTY THE TANK now
    NADA after this
    > Which means, going for death and win
    rather than Live and lose…
    Kind of thing…⁉️
    Many other considerations, of course,
but this one at the core is the critical pivot of the clash…❗️
And the park conditions, of course
The stadium support will be interesting to observe, also
    SERIOUS factor as well
    The rest?

Other than Ireland and France every other game was basically a walk over and as a result, an excellent way to build confidence. They were tested twice. I can't believe noone, including bokke, haven't mentioned that they got 3 titles without the chance of the other 2. NZ got lucky in that respect in 1987. As a kiwi growing up in the 80s, i could not wait to face SA, scared excited. I never felt that watching NZ v any team, win or lose.
It is THE matchup, maybe in any sport:
It has to be 2 countries (patriotism isn't 1/2 as strong with clubs). These countries have to have that sport as not only the biggest in the country, but the one that the country lives and breathes and is known for. Then there has to be history, an equal win/loss history, with cultural factors/ talking points (apartheid, 1981, ear bites, punches thrown at first scrum, 1995 etc etc). Then that sport has to be as close to war as can be (rugby is in the conversation, if not the war sport)
    THE matchup.

The one problem to the knock-out stage suggestion is that it takes no account of whether the team finishes first or second in the pool. Maybe, the ranking should be taken after the pool stages have finished as this will take some account of pool performance.

As a Bok supporter I am concerned about fatigue. After that France game they struggled against a mediocre English team playing well. Twickenham is in the past and they (ABs) will come out steaming. Can they dig deep and hold on? Can they bring their Twickenham physicality to the party especially to the breakdown? A final is a final and we will die on that field - it's going to be a heart stopper though . Good Luck, New Zealand we never see losing to you as a disgrace. May the best team on the day, win.

As a South African, if the Boks win that’s exactly what it means no one needs you to rate them! Secondly, ABs got stronger as the WC progressed therefore making it look like they had easier teams to play but u dismissing Ireland who were the No 1 ranked team that ABs beat!!! That was not an easy game!! Did u forget the last 10 minutes. Thirdly, SA never had it more difficult they just got more complacent as the WC progressed making it look like they had it harder. World Cups don’t need to reward teams for playing ‘between’ World Cups - should we now give failing teams a medal or certificate to make them feel better about themselves..?😂
If you are ‘ best team in the world’ for 4 years (Ireland) and you can’t crack the Quarters - don’t cry about it afterwards. 🤣

" Leicester Fainga'anuku has opted to join Toulon. Fainga'anuku could quickly become one of Mayol's darlings, especially after the departure of Cheslin Kolbe.
