    I enjoyed watching the wonderful video footage explained by Ms. Sheneller.
    As a Japanese, I love Sri Lanka.

      111422/0728h PST 🇺🇸 Thank you for showing Yalpanam. I’ve been to CMB, Kandy, Ratnapura. And have enjoyed the stay very much. The people are so friendly and respectable. But never been to North, especially Yalpanam, which I’d love to visit. Your flow of description is so smooth and very attractive. I didn’t fully understand where the island is that you were in. Good to see you. Thank you. Take care and be safe? Vanakkam Ma. Bye

      Humble? Did they have any second chance after this level of begging? Beware they just killed 200 thousand Tamils and lead their illegally occupied land into bankruptcy. They better be nice to get some tourism dollars!!

    As a Surveyor myself I can vouch that You are correct. Those towers were used for Triangulation of SL.
    In fact they were used to connect indian triangulation network to Sri Lanka in 1887.
    Fun Fact:
    Baseline road in colombo was the "Baseline" of the Triangulation Network in SL😊

    Hi guys, thank you for this video. You present a very youthful, genuine and authentic face of Sri lanka, which is very nice to see. We have to understand why the people of Jaffna object to large scale developments - hotels, industrial parks etc. Every group of people value their own culture and fear 'assimilation' that takes place in the process of development. If you look at the Western coast of the country from Puttalam down to Negambo, you will know what I mean. How do we promote inclusive development, that doesn't make the local population feel marginalised - culturally, is the key challenge. No one I know of in Jaffna is against learning the Sinhala language or integrating with the rest of the country. They know its value and they understand the value addition it brings in finding employment etc. But there is the fear that if everyone is comfortable and fluent in Sinhala (and English), eventually it will lead to a situation where dilution of their identity (and culture) becomes inevitable. The sensitivity to this very legitimate concern, which is rooted in history, is what is lacking in the political discourse in the country. Your programs are excellent and perhaps the exception. keep it up and good luck.

    • @CN-vv6wm
      @CN-vv6wm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree with your point on infrastructure and development. I believe you hit the nail with your explanation. Ultimately, it comes down to "How do we promote inclusive development, that doesn't make the local population feel marginalised - culturally?" I also agree that we need to find ways to improve the infrastructure and development in these regions as that brings revenue to the local communities as well as improves the country's economy.
      However, I disagree with your reason about linguistic assimilation. That's not the reason! The reason is discrimination. When you learn a new language, you will never be as good as the people who are fluent in the language or speak the language at home. People in other countries have successfully embraced learning different languages because regardless of language barrier, there is *equal treatment and job opportunities based on merit instead of the spoken language.* However, *in Sri Lanka, that is not the case!* There is partiality towards people who can't speak the language, have a different last name, and/or are of different background. Until the political and economical function improve, minorities will always weigh the risks and benefits of learning the new language. So the real question is, if most Tamils are willing to learn Sinhala but they refuse to do so, what is causing them to be reluctant? Maybe they don't see a benefit to learning the new language because they believe *EVEN IF* they learn Sinhala, there is an uphill battle with continued discrimination, unfair and unequal job opportunities, and favoritism. Perhaps incentives, integration and reassurance of true merit-based employment/education is what Jaffna people want to hear/confirm before they start learning a new language.

And the other main reason is you both are doing this by heat. You promote Srilanaka which we must need at this time. Doing it in English is really helpful. But it's a shame that our SriLankan still watching Sinhala vlogs even though they dieing to learn English. You guys deserve more subscribers than anyone. Keep it up. Another interesting episode.. Thanks guys for these tourism promotional videos.. You're telling the world that Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 is now safe for the tourists to visit.. As I saw in some travel videos published by a few tourists on their TH-cam channels who had visited the island, still there may be some doubts in foreigners as to whether the country is safe for them to visit due to the unexpected terrible events that took place in the city of Colombo over the past few months and they call it as 'civil war' in the country without proper understanding of it.. Actually, the civil war was in the northern parts of the country in the past, which is over once and for all and not in the city of Colombo.. So, foreigners are free to travel all over the island without any problem as Sri Lanka has now become a safe tourist destination...This series of videos would help a lot to clear the doubts in foreigners....

    I was there for a period of time. I agree with the gentleman, people are very friendly, and Jaffna has much to offer. Much of my time was spent in a village called Atchuveli. During the hot windy season, there was red dust everywhere. The Red Soil is rich in nutrients needed for plant growth, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. I remember rich gardens of tobacco plants near the town. what I liked most was the mango fruit called "Kartha kolambo".

    OMG I tried going on that boat once but got total claustrophobia....The boat was so crowded and dark with such a low roof that I couldn't stand up. I freaked out feeling too hemmed in so I got off just before the boat left and everyone laughed at me. lol. I'm sure Delft is beautiful! Maybe next time.

    is this fruit referred to as "nonggu" or sea coconut in other parts of south east asia. the tree you stood beside referring to as the para mara tree... looks very much like the sea coconut tree.

    In Jaffna they make a sweet, fried in oil ,made with the pulp of the fruit mixed with flour and sugar. It is very tasty.
