Bought a Full Proof Store Pick a few months ago and really enjoying. About half gone and it is GREAT stuff now. Maybe even a bit better than my EH Taylor SmB. Very well balanced and SO easy to drink!! Now I wish I would have bought more. But I wouldn't put it in the Top 5 bourbons I've tasted. Kinda strange to see first Fred M. with HMcK BiB and now Jimmy M. with these reasonably priced bottles ending up on top of BTAC and Pappy. Cheers!!

I have a bottle of 1792 Full Proof. It's good but a little rough. I put a little water or a small piece of ice in it, better. I like the Russell's and the high test Bulleit better also. The Chattanooga 1816 Cask Strength would be in the same class.
I picked up a BiB store pick and put the FP back both bc of these videos and the community's rating. Very glad I did.

I just bought a full proof today for right at 50 with tax. Was hesitant after watching this video but pulled the trigger because I rarely see it. I like it. May buy it again someday.
I did a blind taste test with a 1792 Full Proof store pick and ECBP B520, and I liked the 1792 just slightly more.
I used to live in Baltimore. John Bowman single barrel is ALL OVER that city. Living in Michigan now, can't find it anywhere..
Robert Dekker that’s cause it’s made in VA and is more regionally available. Hard to find far from there due to silly distribution rules/distributors

Just got for around $55. I can live with that amount for a barrel proof. Will sit beside my ECBP (until I get this season's release)

Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel is delicious! It’s my favorite by far of all of the over 100 proof bourbons. Wild Turkey makes great products that are readily available on store shelves.
My whiskey club is getting a pick of the full proof next month I believe. Picked up a 1792 BiB pick today tho that I am very excited for.
Never seen ANY of these bottles except 1920 n that's what I'm drinking right now lol
Currently 1792 FP is $36.99. Russell’s red label is $55.99.. Bulliet barrel strength is $58.99. I’ll stick with 1792 FP, the nose is heavenly, the flavor awakens my taste buds, and it’s a great price.
Saw this at a local store (store picks even) for $43, thought I'd look up a review before buying it... so apparently I gotta head back and buy it like now.

I have a store pick full proof and it's real good for the 45$ I paid a year ago. I've only seen it a few times and I travel alot.

Jim Murray also thinks buffalo trace has 2 of the best 3 bourbons, if I recall correctly. I wish people wouldn’t endorse buffalo trace, they under produce and over charge.
Butttttt they do make good stuff. I actually don't think they overcharge on most of their stuff BUT they are behind in production for sure!
Secondary did the same thing for OGD114 when rumor hit it’d be discontinued. Shelves emptied and guess what it’s still in the lineup.

First McKenna, then Rare Breed, and now 1792? 2019 has seemingly ruined these awards from the “pro” critics. Make zero sense at face value. WhiskeyTube opinions are far more reliable and honest across the board.

I don't really understand the 1792 full proof. I have a bottle I got for $50. It's really just okay... Nothing special, heavy ethanol on the palate and just really lacking in any complex flavor profile. There are tons of bottles I'd recommend over the 1792 full proof.
The store picks make a huge difference

I remember when he picked Northern Harvest Rye as #1 over all. I went and bought a bottle and it was one of the worst Rye's I have ever tasted.

OF 1920 and Rare breed both 💩 on 1792 FP
I have and like all 3, so I'm gonna have to disagree with your comment. Tough to pick a favorite from these 3, although OF 1920 makes a very compelling case. I do like the 1792 full proof better than Rare Breed, but perhaps not better than Russell's Reserve single barrel.
I wonder how much he got paid to pick this as whiskey of the year? It's decent Bourbon but no way is it the best.
Taste is subjective, as we've been told 10000x in our comments, he apparently had the best bottle in the world though.

Maybe I’ve been unlucky but I haven’t tried anything from Barton’s that I’ve really enjoyed yet. Bowman and 1920 are miles ahead for me. Also I think the only reason the BTACs don’t sweep awards every year is similar to how they spread the MVP around in basketball. There was a 10 year period were LeBron should have won every year and he rarely did in actuality. That said a crappy pick from Murray is no surprise, never forget crown of the year.

These reviewers are just trying to slow the secondary market by raving about Rare Breed and 1792. That's my conspiracy theory
Jim Murray is a most likely a paid off shill. I have so many problems with his list. His Irish pick is dumb when the Redbreast 21 is so much better. And his Japanese pick... is silly when there are better, even within the same brand. And don't even get me started with the top three all being America whiskey. With two of them being Buffalo Trace products. Don't get me wrong I love bourbon, but zero Scotch in the top three... hard to take as creditable.
jim is not a paid shill. he has picked red breast as a winner many times. he was one of the first to recognize japanese whisky and arguably started the boom in that market after naming Yama 18 as WOTY. the top three being amero/BT products is a more recent development in his acquired tastes. i think 1792 is a hot mess and disagree with him on it being 2019-woty, but im not gonna disparage him as a shill, which is demonstrably false as he self publishes all his bibles so as to avoid conflicts of interest and false claims of payola.
If he is not being paid somehow, then his palette is straight trash. And should no longer be respected as any kind of expert. His only reasonable pick is WLW... I still think he is getting paid off under the table.

so if youre keeping score hes gotten checks from beam/suntory, diageo and saz all in the last few years, and it's the biggest secret in whiskey that you can cut him a check to get your award... the "palate" argument is a better place to move your goalposts.

You may be reading between the lines here. We're offering suggestions of things you may be able to find easier than 1792 full proof now that he said it was "the best" (which not a single other person on this planet has ever thought). Not whiskeys that should've won. Calm down, we'll all be ok!
