Thank you so much for such an informational video on painting cummulative clouds over water. It was exactly what I was looking for. It was just the right pace, content and actual painting. Well done. 🥰 from Oregon USA
Thank you so much for showing us and sharing your wonderful talent. I've been a artist all my life for 58 years. You have helped me so much with your clouds. Your a great teacher. Jim!
Hi Ian, I’m a complete amateur that has changed from water colour to Acrylic, I’ve just finished number 168, I found your site by accident and I’m glad I did, your instruction techniques are great even though I find it very challenging when I put my brush to canvas, I would like to say that I enjoy the way you deliver your teaching in a light and jovial manner. Thank you Eddie Pleban UK. I’m now attempting 161
I have been watching so many tutorials on painting and for the first you were the only one I have understood on how to do the clouds and the waves. Thank you so much and I will watch your other tutorials since it was too late for me to watch. Thank you so much. God bless you mate!
Greetings Ian, Being a Kiwi living in Mildura I just love your no BS attitude. Mate, you're a legend. One has only been painting since July and I have learnt more from you than anyone. I showed a painter/artist my work yesterday and she said it was naive! Of course I feel my work is not and take on board how to improve. I work with acrylic on canvas and now only watch you. I have sent your link to a budding young student friend in Fiji. Thanks for your sharing your skill. Tucky
t/you for showing the ease of painting clouds...I always worked so hard on my clouds with more stress than fun! Who says you can't teach a dog new tricks?; this 70 r old just learned a couple of new tricks! thanks again, and wish I'd of had you in all my many art classes...
Hello...i love how you take time to explain in detail what to do..since it helps beginners like me a great deal...i learnt so much from your videos...thank you so much. Please do keep posting...
Hi, Lynn here from England. Many thanks for this very detailed tutorial on clouds. I am the worlds worst for doing clouds, you have helped me so much. I am going to try to follow this and hopefully can send you my finished painting. Once again thank you.
It should be a word of awesomeness, “that’s so cumulus, mate!” I did a cloud last night. Before this video. The idea was to make a bunch of clouds come away from the top into the horizon. I did just the first cloud. Came out looking like a cartoonish north and south America tornado going straight down. Wtf?! I am not on the bullshit level AT ALL. Also, I have a picture I took of an amazing cloud. It is truly something special, and I wish I could afford you to paint it, BUT! If you’d like to see the picture and paint it on your own for the world to see ALL of the bullshit. This cloud was made for you.
Absolutely LOVE the detail you put into your clouds. Your instructions are easy to follow and fairly easy to do. Of course my clouds are not as nice looking as yours but with practice I'm hoping for your level of painting. Thank you for taking time to demonstrate a "how to" video.
Just started learning to paint and have struggled with clouds. A big thank you for making sense of it. You covered a couple of reasons I have difficulty and the corrections.
You and Mural Joe and my two favorite painting mentors. I love the way you teach and talk! Extremely informative and entertaining. Thank you, Ian for sharing your talent, passion and knowledge! I'm forever grateful. ✌️
Jennie here from Peoria, Arizona, wow I love your technique of creating clouds, Ive struggled for along time now, I do believe I can do this mate!!! God Bless you and your Family!!!
This is a great learning channel, as I have picked up so many tips and I like your terminology, this gives me a laugh sometimes when I am learning, which makes it an enjoyable experience.
Hi there Ian, I recently subscribed to your channel and have learnt a lot from you. Thank you. I have tried to paint along with your cloud tutorial which is fantastic but mine still look like one big blob of cloud instead of say 3 clouds, one in front of the other. I have painted with your video 2x but can't seem to get that 3D effect, despite using "shadow colour." Can you help? Also, I really battle to use a fan brush. And I want to ask you if you use lots of white paint on the brush when you do the white part of the clouds and did you use the titanium white or the flow white for them? Thank you so much from a freezing Johannesburg. Joanne Townshend.
Thanks so much for doing this one, Ian. I'm such a putz. I keep giving up during the 'ugly' phase, which is basically the first part of what you did there. I decide I've mucked it up and end up painting over it, so..now I know the first layer is actually supposed to look that way. Huge help!
Hey, I live in Canada and I am in my eighties. I just started to try to teach myself to do a little painting. I have looked at numerous painting ideas on here but I keep coming back to your teaching. I have watched and studied this work of yours here over and over and over again. I am determined to learn how to do that sky, clouds and a little water landscape just like you are doing here. I have tried it a couple of times but the result was not so good. I have a question. How do you keep the paint on your pallette from drying up while you are working? I have already lost a lot of paint from drying out and that stuff can be expensive. Thanks for all of your teachings you are super. Wally.
i use retarder, that slows down the drying time of acrylic paint, just put the amount of paint you need to paint a subject of your painting at a time there is no rush
I'm a beginner painter..and I have a lot of straggle on painting clouds 😅 but it seems so easy when you paint sir! thanks for your video helps me a lot ❤
Love your clouds and character! Thank you for this brilliant tutorial! Amazing also to see how fast you develop yourself. Like you work very hard to be able to offer us this. Thank you!

Iran, those clouds came out awesome!! I was stick and couldn't remember how I got my clouds to look 3-D and layered like yours.. I normally paint with oils and its so much easier. But you still have to blend each time also.. Looks really nice mate Thanks for the teaching Ian.👍👍✌😎
Hi there, have loved learning from your tutorials and I want to attempt a sea-cloud scene with a boat and not sure whether to paint the background then at the boat or mask tape the boat put. My style tends to end up with a bit of texture so unsure and would love your advice if you have time :-)

Peter Munday from Mandurah WA. Thank you for a great detailed clip on painting clouds.
I really like these clouds, I've learned a lot from you. thank you
Does the blue get dry prior to adding clouds?
What brush do you use for blending? What bristles? I find it’s difficult in to find a nice one. What fan type also...
2 inch brush from hardware and a hog bristle fan
Stunning creation...where i can find your blending brush?
go to my paypal link below video and send $45.00 US dollars and be sure to put your full address in the details and country, here is the link paypal.me/ianapolis

Hello from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Thank you for your moon tutorial. I paint with mostly oil. Do you dab when you paint with oil. Do you do tutorials using oil?
Im sorry, I only paint in acrylic, I have never used oil's
