      It's not about the job title. It's about people who have a pension and they also had another career working in private sector paying into social security. Some people have worked about 29 years paying social security, and then they worked another 10 years working for the public sector. These public sector jobs are not always high paying and the pensions are not always massive. There's a lot of little people out here who really got screwed because of WEP. Not everyone! But there are a large group of people who lost a lot of money, simply because there was no way to formulate a calculation. So WEP is for the little guy.

      @sonyafox3271 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, it is, anything the president signs off on is federal, which means that affects all 50 states, duh! However, it has to do with Social Security Benefits and, therefore, common sense will tell you that has to do with your monthly check and, therefore, if it has been signed off into law it will not take effect right away, the SSA is a separate federal government entity and, then, it will be at their discretion and, then, they have to do what they need to do first before, it ever becomes official and, when, that time nears, they will send you a letter through mail first and give you those dates when, they get their part done and close to making it official and, that’s why you never get raises or does a rule change become official. If you been getting any type of monthly benefit from the SSA for sometime, you would know that as well as knowing it is a federal government agency. But, it, seems you need to slow down and listen, rather than be so, gung ho and, make a comment without even thinking. 11:02

      @sonyafox3271 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Pensions do not come from the SSA anyway, they come from companies that one has worked at for the most yrs. Pensions do not come from county, state or not even the government, those pensions come from people who worked for them. You apparently didn’t work because, it’s funny you don’t even understand that. Aka, in order to get a pension you have to have a job and, the money is taken out of your check, something you don’t seem to understand, monthly pension money is something that was taken out of their checks because, they paid into it. Yet, you seem to have not paid into a pension just similar to Social Security Retirement but, not. Therefore, you can’t expect to get a pension if you paid nothing into it. My step- dad for example paid into a pension through his employer and, he didn’t work for the state or the county he lived in, therefore, his pension came directly from the company he worked for! He knew his Social Security wouldn’t be enough to live on. 11:02

      @@paulanoble1244 A pension doesn’t come from the SSA, Social Security Retirement one isn’t a pension, it’s extra money that people paid into through their government jobs, that’s how you get a pension to begin with! Just like holding that government job, just as they had taxes taken out to pay into Social Security, these people done this to, to get a pension! You can get them directly through the companies you work for but, again you have to pay into them, they aren’t automatically given to you. 11:02

    • @Daysleeper1000
      @Daysleeper1000 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      What was disgraceful, was that WEP over corrected and stole money from social security for many of these workers. Not all! But most of these workers and they're not just teachers, firefighters and police, they're everyday people who work in small towns with a small town municipality with a small paycheck and a small pension. These people paid into social security some for 25 years. And then they worked public sector and were punished. The WEP calculation was an over correction for many. So this is really a reimbursement. It's not extra money. It's not a raise. It's money that is being given back because too much was taken out of their social security check.

You were supposed to be putting money into a retirement fund during your working years and live off that with your social security. Some retirees live very well because they planned ahead. So social security is not the problem, it's people not planning for the future

    It really got there for them to get more money and we don't. What about people is off of SS? I? We only get 900 soft dollars a month. That is not a lot of money. You pay your bills when it comes in and you broke the rest of the month

    I feel.
    Like I'm being discriminated against because I didn't work for any government agency. I worked construction. And what's the differenyes when you work you work? Why should they get more money? They already get more money than we do on a monthly check basis. And now they're gonna get an increase. I feel like those of us who only get SSI are getting screwed big time. Big time and it sucks sucks big time!
