    Hey Chris! Do you notice if the regular Calmer or Calmer Pros are better for not distorting the sound of your own voice while you're speaking?

    I just got the standard ones…and bought the aluminium case. The irony of the noise of putting the lid on and off creating an ‘activating’ dreadful sound is not lost on me 🤦 . I’ll considered. Would not buy the case again or recommend.

    I've been trying the Calmer and now trying the Calmer Pro.
    I don't have any issue with autism, nor do I have tinnitus. I have a condition that the audiologists and otolaryngologists have not been able to diagnose. But one of the systems is that I've developed a distortion somewhere around the 4000kz frequency range.
    I've tried things like the Loop Engage, and that just muffled everything. It attenuated all across the board too much.
    I tried the Calmer because it promised a more focused attenuation in a smaller frequency range, and that it's hollow, it allows more through.
    Sure enough, it rounded off the areas where I was experiencing that distortion. It also attenuated above it, so if you have a good deal of hearing loss, you'll certainly not want these.
    But the standard Calmer model also leaves things a bit muddied as well. Not terrible, but there's still some occlusion (that cupped sound, although the Loop Engage were worse in this regard). There's still the advantage to device being hollow.
    The Pro version is sold as having a better high frequency smoothness and openness. It does. There's less is the cupped, damped quality. I haven't yet put it through all the paces I have with the standard ones. But for those with more particular ears (I'm a musician and very aware of frequency response and tonality), I'm going to guess that the Pros are better all the way around.

    I have Misophonia, and I can say the regular ones, I ordered the pros but they aren't here yet, definitely help. Not a cure, but they help.

      Have you tried the loop ones? I have misophonia and I'm desperately looking for some kind of solution as my days out seem to be only increasingly more stressful

      Loop isn’t worth it. All you hear is your head noises, breathing and heartbeat.

      @@Deadwood_Valley thank you for the response. That doesn't sound like it would help me at all

    Only got them for a day and can definetely say these reduce sibliance and tames those frequencies that seem harsh and catch our attention without us wanting to.

    • @ChrisSpiegl

      I think that's exactly what they are supposed to do.

    My Pro version Calmers I just bought came in the cheap packaging you show from the regular Calmers, so I guess Flare are trying to cut costs.

    My daughter is dealing with depression. I'm not going to say how but she picked up an emotional response to sudden noise elevation. Like fireworks, sirens from first responders, and yes crowded environments. Should these help my daughter?

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't speak for someone having depression. But I have heard from people that the Calmer help with different kinds of sensory overload and the like. I'd probably try it out and see if it helps.

    Which ones did you prefer, og vs pro?

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've used the pro overall. Felt more solid. But personally couldn't tell a huge "audio" difference (with my ears).

    You said you can remove the aluminum core from the pros. So are they basically the same as the ogs then without the core? (trying to figure out if I should get both or just one) thank you!

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think they are just the same with a metal core. The Pro silicon like material is thinner than the non pro.

    Any idea how it would perform at a shooting range?

    • @daniellelong-ci7wu
      @daniellelong-ci7wu ปีที่แล้ว +8

      They wouldn't. They aren't for sound reducing or safety

    • @amysarg
      @amysarg ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You should absolutely not use them at a shooting range. You need hearing protection in loud settings

    • @Thegooob95
      @Thegooob95 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They’re not earplugs. They reduce ambient noise in the ear Canal for those with sound processing disorders.
