it's been a treat to watch your style of content grow from the portrait-cropped three panels, to the black out background, then w colored lights, and now something different again. plus the little bits you add along the way, like costuming, the editing, etc. just the artistry of it, I suppose. watching you try out different stuff over these years has been wonderful to watch. not to mention that this cover was another banger :)) the subharmonics, especially, were gorgeous.
Look at you getting all fancy with your videography! It's so fun to see you experiment and push any notion of boundaries regarding your vocal range and artistry.🔥
It's hard to accurately describe the high pitched, excited noises that came out of my mouth after seeing the notification that you had filmed a cover of this song. This is another amazing cover of yours that I'll unapologetically play at full volume later today sir!
Any old song: *might have some music in it* Colm: *starts a musical adventure, and makes us wonder why the song wasn’t written that way to begin with...!*
This is immediately one of my favorites from you (your Norse music and trad tunes are my comfort songs) but as a California farm kid, this hits a whole feeling from my childhood listening to this song alongside my elders. It’s perfect ❤
That was amazing!!!! The voice, the guitar! Johnny Cash was my first favorite artist as a kid (mostly due to my dad). You made it your own and it was so good!
Since Country is the confluence of Blues and the British and Irish folk traditions, this makes perfect sense. There are large numbers of American folk songs and songs from the various genres they smushed together to make the Nashville sound that would be golden for Colm. Someone give Colm some Bluegrass, Cowboy Swing, Bakersfield tunes, and old timmey. There are jewels waiting for this man.
oh its 100% Johnny's song, but theres alot of good covers out there. nothing beats Johnny's version of this song.. the feeling you get from his voice is just different ^^
Fantastic job m8! Johnny would be *STOKED* he still has awesome Tributes from Fans like this years after his Passing. As 1 of Johnny's Biggest Fans, you did a GREAT tribute to 1 of Rock & Roll's Finest Musicians! (Man in Black, Folsom Prison, I See A Darkness, Ain't No Grave, Gunfighter Ballad, God's Gonna Cut You Down, I've Been Everywhere are probably my Top favorites but literally everything by Mr. Cash was Masterclass!) (Fun fact: Johnny Cash was friends with Elvis as young Rising Stars. They would warm up before shows by singing Southern Gospel Ballad Working Songs together. Johnny even got Roy Orbison a Contract with their Record Label. Roy would go on to become the only Musician that both Elvis & Johnny wouldn't follow On-Stage! They both considered Roy a 'better signer'.) ( ...Any chance you might want to cover The Legendary Theme from Gitaroo Man? Probably the *Best Song in all of Rhythm Games.* Some say, calling your song 'The Legendary Theme' is pretentious---UNTIL you hear it! Then it's LEGENDARY!)
I lisnted to this version of this song during a blizzerd from Sedgwick county to Araphoe county the guitur solo really resprssented all the cars and snow plows traveling that stretch of I-76 in colorado
Fun fact. The "country or Appalachian accents" come straight from Ireland and Scotland. Most of the settlers of the Virginia/Kentucky/Tennessee area of Appalachia were Irish and Scottish. It's always funny when I hear Irish people in particular try to do hill country accents... because they think they are bad at it.. when in reality, its spot on.
Brother bear, this was an absolutely amazing cover. The vocals completely blew me away, instrumentation was great and the camera work very well done. If you're planning on doing any more Cash I'd love to hear your take on something with a quicker tempo like Cocaine Blues
Much better Southern accent than on your Ghost Riders cover! Love it. The trick is not to make it too exaggerated. We don't actually sound like the Beverly Hillbillies lol. Great job on this one. 💪🏻
LOVE IT!! I think I actually squeaked out an "OOH!!" when I saw this on my TH-cam homepage. Johnny Cash has been a favorite since I was younger, and you did him proud!! Thank you Colm. 🥰😁

We get subharmonics Colm today? What a treat
Pretty good guitar playing for a person who says they hate guitars…lol
"I said I never had much use for one. Never said I didn't know how to use it." - Quigley, 'Quigley Down Under'
The boston sounding "coffee" just made me smile. This would make Johnny proud.
After reading your comment, I thought, I gotta listen for that part. . .
It did NOT disappoint! Lol ❤
My dad (1931-2014) used to play the original _"Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison"_ album often when I was a kid!
Look at you getting all fancy with your videography! It's so fun to see you experiment and push any notion of boundaries regarding your vocal range and artistry.🔥
Johnny Cash would approve. Thats another win for colm.

Colm: *starts a musical adventure, and makes us wonder why the song wasn’t written that way to begin with...!*
That was bluddy marvellous. If someone just heard this without the video they would think there were multiple artists singing.
Normally not a big fan of major changes from the original artist but I really like this energy. He sounds good.
Dayum boi😮 you're smokin!
Shocking shots! Colm has legs!
😅
(The cover is wonderful as always)
This is immediately one of my favorites from you (your Norse music and trad tunes are my comfort songs) but as a California farm kid, this hits a whole feeling from my childhood listening to this song alongside my elders. It’s perfect ❤
I hear people sing hundreds of times a week and your range is beyond even Chris Isaac
That was amazing!!!! The voice, the guitar! Johnny Cash was my first favorite artist as a kid (mostly due to my dad). You made it your own and it was so good!
As an American with Irish ancestors who moved to Tennessee a few generations ago I approve of this cover lol.
I can never get over your octave range. It always blows my mind. Wonderfully done!
WE NEED MORE JOHNNY!!!!!!! You do such a good job with his songs

The amount of talent in this man is obscene. HUGE FAN.
You are my favourite music Channel on the platform
Thanks for all the good Times mate
Colm...you won. Not only the internet, but lowest voice, and one of the best musicians of modern time. Love you man.
One of my favorite songs posted by one of my favorite singers on TH-cam on my birthday
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 👑
@@ColmRMcGuinness thank you
All of IT. Voice, playing, attitude. I love all of it.
This might be the BEST cover I've heard for this song.
I'm thinking it might not just be Johnny's song anymore.
oh its 100% Johnny's song, but theres alot of good covers out there. nothing beats Johnny's version of this song.. the feeling you get from his voice is just different ^^
Love it!❤

I don't usually like anyone messing with my Johhny Cash, but you Sir.... are amazing! Thank you
Okay are we gonna ignore how ripped Colm is?
I lisnted to this version of this song during a blizzerd from Sedgwick county to Araphoe county the guitur solo really resprssented all the cars and snow plows traveling that stretch of I-76 in colorado
Feels like my music taste is just anything Colm puts out lmao
I feel ya.😆
You are doing JC justice, hope we get more covers like this.
Hells yeah! Awesome job! Thank you and I'm really enjoying your folk/blues/country covers!
I knew this would happen eventually. I played my harmonica while listening because I love it that much. Keep the bangers coming.
Colm, you have raised the bar once more. Well done! I enjoyed every minute of this cover and I am sure that Johnny Cash would have approved
Somehow, none of this went as I was imagining, and now I'm sitting here with a very silly grin on my face. Bravo!
Hearing this brings back good memories. My Grandpa had a CD of Johnny Cash, and we'd always listen to it in the car. Another amazing cover as always 💚
Subharmonic Colm unlocked 🎉
Being from Folsom, this song is my jam. Such a good cover of it too! Gave me chills!
Woah Colm , that’s some real country twang! Where did your accent go? I love when you showcase your vocal range.
I think he perfected his country accent

Shivers. Actual shivers! Love this so much!!!

The guy never ceases to amaze. Absolutely brilliant mate 🍻
Amazing! Liked, commented and added to a play list… I was already subscribed!
This left me speechless, dancing but speechless lol
I can't believe how I keep getting more and more impressed with every new video ❤
Brilliant! What a fantastic take of such a classic! Just thank you so much for a great start to the morning here in California
Beautiful. Thank you, Mr. McGuinness. Possibly the best rendition I've ever heard for this song.
I love the rasp and tone of his voice 🤯
Daaaang dude this is amazing! 👏 I grew up on Johnny Cash. You did him proud
Much better Southern accent than on your Ghost Riders cover! Love it. The trick is not to make it too exaggerated. We don't actually sound like the Beverly Hillbillies lol. Great job on this one. 💪🏻
I really love this version great cover
Nice subharmonics!!
Bravo, Bravo my friend. I love a good Johnny cash song and you killed it man, thanks for the great cover
Gotta love a beautiful man that can sing beautifully. You go boy...
Кавер даже лучше оригинала! Браво, Колм!
Is there anything you can't sing, Colm? Love this version!
Probably "The Phantom of the Opera". If he could hit those high notes that Christine sings, then I'd be convinced there's nothing he can't sing
This was incredible! I was cheering multiple times throughout the song!!!
E1 subharmonic? Nice.
That guitar solo on 2:10 OH BABY
This style of music video for Colin def has a nice feel to it!
LOVE IT!! I think I actually squeaked out an "OOH!!" when I saw this on my TH-cam homepage. Johnny Cash has been a favorite since I was younger, and you did him proud!! Thank you Colm. 🥰😁

Out of surgery boys and this is what I see Perfection
THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE BANGER!!!
Them subs? Huh? and the umm B4 chest?

My upper range is a lot of mixed voice, haha. Cheers mate!
Love this version of that old classic! Great work, Colm 👍😊
I hope a cover of Johnny Cash's "Ain't No Grave" is next on your bucket list 🙂
Some say that we'll eventually find the lower bounds of Colm's vocal range. I have yet to see any proof to this claim.
And this Happy New Year of 2024 brings more bass-tastic awesomeness and overall amazing artistry. Thanks Colm. 👍👍 Stay safe and stay awesome. 🙃✌️
Absolutely beautiful, music, lighting, instrumentals, videography, sweater, all of it.
Love this version! You can definitely feel the emotions of each verse.
Not in the studio I see, very nice👑
Amazing! As usual. 🙂 Can I wish for The Weeping Song, or The Gambler?
Killing those low notes !! 😨

Absolutely fantastic work Colm!
This was incredibly well done and I love the growth that your channel has had.
as a lad from san antonio raised on rockabilly myself, it is surreal to hear him say 'San Antone' let alone RENO
I am captivated by this fine cover!
