Hi! I got sudo testdisk running, but when it got to the list of the disks, choosing the disk led to "No Partition Available". What should I do? I want to recover the files deleted from the Bin. Thanks.

Thank you, bro! Just one tip for everyone, I wanted to recover the files to the external drive, that's why later, after copying the files, I had to mount it back again to show the external drive and put the files back there.

hi! i got to the last few steps but instead of showing each of the pictures, its only giving me the folders i deleted. so when i do shift c and paste it in a different folder, it doesnt work. any help pls? ):
Thank you! This helped a lot. Deleted my vlog and was about to edit it just to realize my folder was empty. For some reason, most of my log files were corrupted (after recovery) but I had also had proxies. yes, the video won't be in 4k but that's okay, atleast I have something to edit.
When i try and copy the files it says copy done 0 ok, 0 failed. but nothing has been copied. What am I doing wrong?
By mistake I formatted the data disk from MAC and installed Windows 10 there. Can I recover data in the way you present?
It says "no partition available" and doesn't allow to go further that choosing "advanced" option.
This musn't work if you format the disk, cause I couldn't find any deleted files on any of my sd cards.
I copied files from source folder, selected the destination folder and hit C, it said files copied successfully, 0 failed -- but I don't see the files in the Documents folder... then, I tried the same thing again but saved it to Desktop this time, again copy was successful but still don't see the files in Desktop destination folder -- any suggestions?

hmm they should appear wherever you set as the destination. maybe its a permission issue? make sure your terminal process can write to wherever youre saving

this did not help at all. unable to download homebrew or testdisk.... am I doing something wrong?
If TestDisk can't see your SD card on the disk selection screen, it's most likely because TestDisk doesn't like your integrated SD card reader (this happened to me). Simply use a USB card reader instead (don't forget to unmount the partition containing your files before running "sudo testdisk") and all will be right with the world.

Hello, how do I alter this to work for my internal drive? (So far the sudo testdisk command only works when an external disk is attached). When it's not attached, and I run the command, I get "No harddisk found"

it sounds like testdisk isnt installed. double check you installed it correctly with homebrew

should still work! can you see deleted files? just make sure you choose an external drive as the recovery location
He Ben, great video... also had the same problem as my deleted files were on the main disk.. I plugged in an external drive, however it's asking me to unmount the disk with the lost data, which is not possible if it's the main hard drive I'm using 😂.. thanks in advance and really appreciate your video

it worked amazingly however, when i clicked on the video it was just a black screen for the entirety of the video and i used a website to uncorrupt it and still didn't work. Did i do something wrong or is there something I can do?
if this has happened only to this file, it's very likely currupted, and there's no much you can do about it, i'm sorry. It has happened to me too, but it was only in the top-line of pixels; the rest was just fine

I’ve been trying to use Testdisk to recover files on my Mac but I can’t unmount the drive I want to search because I’m using it on my laptop . Can I still recover the deleted files without unmounting or is there something else I can do ?

@@emmanuel8931you need to grant the application (which is Terminal) full access to your hard drive: system settings/privacy and security/ full disk access - then make sure terminal is checked, restart terminal then it'll start working :), hope this helps

I've tried this method to recover data from the internal storage of my MacBook it did not turn out positive, I wasn't able to recover my files, however, that is not it when I run the command sudo testdisk, I'm unable to see the computer's storage however when I insert a thumb drive, I see that it has 50GB of data on it, however, I only bought it yesterday and there is nothing on it. Apple/system settings/privacy and security/full disk access/ and then check terminal, then restart it
