I LOVE GLOW DAY! 😂 unfortunately it stopped in 2nd grade, all those memories.. and as me in 4th grade currently I think it’s interesting how schools celebrate different types of parties different times. I actually had in a March a literacy/family night where there are lots of games like twister, gym games, there was a mini glow room, arts and crafts, and my teacher hosted a corn hole challenge against another 4th grade teacher across from our classroom. If you have any questions about the differences between Cleveland Ohio schools and mine feel free to ask since I’m kinda the kid that wants to be a teacher when I grow up. I take in the things my teacher says about being one of her!

Man, if I woke up every morning feeling pumped for school my life would be a million times better.

‘the level of work it takes to truly make it happen’
That just feels unattainable to me right now. I’m a secondary ed major about to graduate this May and teach high school math in the fall. I have so many aspirations for my students next year, but every time I think about how I’ll have 180 of them, anything special like this feels totally impossible. This is especially true since I think I’m gonna need the first year or few to just feel like I have my feet under me.
I know you teach elementary, but do you have any advice for a young woman about to begin her teaching career? I know that this is what I was made to do, but I also know that it’ll be really hard (worth it, but hard).

I'm in my first year of university for elementary ed, but grew up with my mom as a teacher. For big projects like this, she planned ahead and worked on it one day at a time. Like glow day, she planned a day for shopping for items, a day for finding faculty who could help with certain things like setup/ technology, a day to put everything together, and a day to plan with other faculty (finding out who can help setup the classroom at what time). She would have all the items set aside in her classroom so everything would be available once Glow Day came

I had a crazy ELA teacher in 4th grade. She would literally have dance parties in the middle of class sometimes. She was pretty great! You’d be her best friend lol

I think trends like these coalign with the downward trend of student state testing scores.

    No matter what school sucks

I’m not trying to sound like a nerd but I wouldn’t say it “sucks” since you’ll need some of this knowledge to get into college and get a job. No matter what I love school and it feels like a safe place and home environment! Minus that fake taco meat.. it taste like it’s re-used at least in my district! But you know it’s always good to have something you don’t like cough cough TACO MEAT! It’s just another interesting thing about your school being unique place🥱
