The 747 is everything to me. She's not just a plane but a piece of my life. When ever i was walking to school and from school i heard the roar of the rb211 when she came to say good morning. She has touched my life aswell as other people's life too. She has brought me out of misery. I love the 747 with all my heart and i wish her a very happy 50th birthday. Thanks for everything 747. The Queen Of The Sky
Hats off to Joe Sutter and his team...what a great design! It's interesting to think of all the planes it outlasted: the Concorde, L-1011, DC-10, MD-11, and the IL-86. Even the A380 looks like it's going to have a much shorter production run.
@@tanishqsharma6668 Perhaps, but the hints from both Airbus and Emirates indicate that the A380 production line might be closing sooner than expected.
It's official, the A380 will end production in 2021. The 747 will still have at least 2 more years of production after the end of the A380 with the current backlogs.
The quality of the 747 is amazing it flies so smooth, the systems are very safe, the cabin altitude is better than almost all planes and the pilots love to fly them, which means more hand flying, more skill and more safety (with most pilots anyway, some bad apples on the 747 though). Most pilots on other types just turn the autopilot on about 400 ft after takeoff
Nice clips. Thank you, JustPlanes. Makes me feel old. In 1969, I was living in Nassau, Bahamas, and remember seeing a pre-production 747 quite low overhead. Everyone stopped, looked and pointed. "Oh look! Wow, is that a Jumbo Jet?". Even then it looked and moved like a classic-to-be. In later years, I was a passenger a few times, Economy Class, and, well, not really special from that viewpoint, although sure as felt heck better than when I'd been in a B707 or DC8. Oh memories, memories!
Being an commercial aviation buff, the Boeing 747 will always be my favourite aircraft, she will always the Queen of the sky. I realise the passenger version of the Boeing 747 is dead, but there will still be a demand for the freighter version, because of the design of the 747. Happy Birthday Boeing 747. Joe Sutter (R.I.P), you sir were a genius.
This is your best video so far. I especially love the shot at 13.00. She’s such a beauty, and her sisters 777 and 787 are lovely too. Amazing to think how far aviation has advanced. The Wright Brothers’ first flight 115 years ago was shorter than the 747’s wingspan!
Happy Birthday to the most graceful and beautiful airplane of them all - truly the 'Queen of the Skies'. And still graceful under pressure.. witness the hard landing and bounce at 8:56. Amazing! Hope to see lots more of you and your descendants in another 50.
@@fredschriks8554 oh, you meant the video. My bad. I was referring to her maiden voyage in 1970 with Pan American Airlines. And to answer your question, I can see pretty well for a 43yo lol 🤣
Its unbelievable that Lufthansa Airlines will possibly retire its fleet of Boeing 747-8i passenger planes in the 2020's. According to the AP, the CEO of Lufthansa wants to replace their 747-8i fleet with more fuel efficient twin engine airplanes like the A350 and Boeing jetliners. It would be a waste of money big time if Lufthansa retires its fleet of 19 Boeing 747-8i passenger jets in the 2020's. Its fleet is still so young and I think it would be a terrible loss for the airline if they do that.
50 years old what the heck, still in service all over the world, probably for another 50 years. Technology has slowed down, not sped up, electronic gadgets are not an achievement.

I personally think that A380 will do a bit better than the Queen.....

Hopefully people in those key positions will see the value of the 747-8f!

Wow, who would’ve known that an airplane built in the late 1960’s would’ve come all this way to 50 years, amazing😁.
May she last another 50 years! Wonderful aircraft.
Happy Birthday Jumbo Jet.I wish you 50 more yearsThe most awesome and graceful airliner.Always loved flying with it

One of aviation's greatest achievements, simply the best!
The mist from the rain flowing over the wings is truly Majestic.

for extending more 50 years servicing, might she need redesign and newest engine technologies to improve fuel efficiency...

I thought the 747 started service in 1970 with PanAm? Am I mistaken?

No your not mistaken,it WENT in service in 1970 but the very first one took its maiden flight on Feb 9 1969.
And you can see that first 747 at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. @@MrSlim1959
