    I just purchased a Variegated version of this plant. What a wonderful, and in depth perspective shared about the Syngonium Chiapense! You answered every question I had about this plant, and you spoke to every curiosity as well. Thank you for going in depth and sharing about WHY you have chosen to take care of it in the way that you have, as well as the reasoning behind your various conclusions. I love the fact that you are growing this plant in different types of light, and on different medium, and sharing the progress with us! This makes it much easier to make a decision in one’s own home about establishing the best possible starting point since we cannot all procure multiples of this plant right away! You are the best, and I am now a subscriber.

      @@EverythingPlants 💚One more question. I noticed that sometimes when growing this plant up a plank, burlap is first placed on top of the wood. Any ideas as to why? Maybe it’s to hold some moisture between the aerial roots, and the plank? You mentioned that you spray it - I wonder how often you need to do that? Thx again!

    MAJOR👏👏👏Claps For The Chiapense!!! I Ordered One And IT Worked ITS Magic On ME!!! THIS IS A Plant That Came With One Or Two Leaves... BUT I Wasn't Driven To Throw A Fit About IT!!! I Ordered A 2nd One After Receiving The First One. I Think They Were Both Sold As Being In 4 Inch Pots... One ILooks To Be In A 3 Inch Pot. I Was Cutting Leaves On BOTH Last Nite Because I Was Too Late In My Watering. The Microsoft Malware Known As Windows Update Had THIS... My Main Computer Trashed Since Mother's Day!!! My Plants Have Suffered...

    I love those slat sided pots but...I do recommend a soaking method when watering and keeping in a cache pot to help contain the moisture. In my dry climate of CO without doing that,and/or keeping in a greenhouse cabinet,the soil dries out way too quickly.

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Joanna. I have found they dry out quickly, so I'll have to do the soaking method!

    Oh this was handy timing. I was having a quick look through your videos last week as I knew you had a Chiapense and I was looking for propagation info on them. I bought 2 cuttings a month ago, one was rooted and one wasn't but had long aerial roots

    The pattern on your chiapense is really awesome. I've actually never been keen on them bc most times the pattern and colors aren't as clear as in this video.

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya, they are normally a solid green leaf. I love both of these plants and easily my favorite syngonium. Do you have any syngonium plants?

    • @grat2010
      @grat2010 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep. I have a franken-gonium that made up of neon, confetti, and pink splash syngoniums. They look great together and growing like weeds.

    How do thrips get in your house? You seem very vigilant but they seem to come back. Luckily I’ve not had a thrips issue (that I know about!)

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know they are in alot of places throughout Canada, but I had thrips on a raspberry bush a few years back....also my lettuce in the garden. Usually I good blast of cold water from the hose does the trick, but indoors they are more difficult. So to answer your question.....EVERYWHERE! They blow in through the windows and doors, in the produce you bring home and on other houseplants.

      @@EverythingPlants No I do not. Some day. I hope they become easier to get . I bought a Syngonium Auritum last summer. It struggled in shipping but came around. I lost one cutting out of 4. Now they is growing quite well. Soon they will need to be moved as they have hreached their height limit on the shelf they are on.

    i’ve read that it’s a good idea to cut back the foliage when you root prune about equally, so for example prune 30% of roots and 30% of leaves at the same time. when i’ve done root pruning alone, a bunch of leaves died off, so i’m thinking i’ll try that next time… 🤞

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Makes sense as there isn't as much roots to support the current amount of leaves. I think because I also pruned, this may have been the reason it never declined. Thanks for that great tip!

    The colour variations on your basement plant is so beautiful. I wonder if it's because it's only getting artificial light?

    9:10 the coloring might not be variegation, it looks more like sun bleaching/sun stress

    Carolyn palmer so if u bottom water the top of the plant doesn't have to get wet?

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I do this for many of my plants....especially ones that have stems that are susceptible to rot like peperomia.

    🫣I just stopped the video. Grabbed my syngonium chiapense and trimmed the massive roots it had 😰. It only has 4 leaves and 2 are yellowing…like the ones you showed. 😁🪴hopefully it pushes nicer ones

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope it works for you! I only pruned the roots because I don't want a larger pot...so far so good.
