      Thanks! Yeah, I wish it was cheaper. For what it's worth, the prices I showed are 'cost', not 'retail'. I don't plan to mark it up. Which means I make nothing from each sale.

      @@bluebotic2327 I'm in a privileged enough position to not be overly phased by the price (I'm in Canada, too 😬), though I appreciate your sensitivity to cost. Pretty lame that you won't be making anything off it 👎

      @@communis_ I'm brainstorming this week about a possible kickstarter or ways to bulk order from GameCrafter to get the price down. This has always been a side project for me, so I too feel privileged that my livelihood does not depend on monetizing this game. I'm mainly just excited to get it out there into the world. If I did somehow end up making some money off this game, I'd immediately reinvest it all to make the game even better. Thanks a lot for your interest in this project! I appreciate it.

    If you get tons of interest you can always do the crowd sale through The Game Crafter. I am currently committed to my third purchase through that method and it’s nice to see the price fall as people jump in.
    An added bonus is that anyone who participates in the sale wants to tell everyone they know (at least I do 😅).

    Just managed to catch this before lying down to sleep before work. Pretty cool to be to this point! Nice job.
    I've gone through the new rulebook and not really found anything feedback wise other than it makes a huge difference to have each chapter or topic starting on it's own page. That's something that I really liked about mid 90s GW rules. I think most of it's usability will be tested when it's used in play as a reference document. That's where lots of games seem to fail but Low seems like it should work.
    One weird thing that I just noticed and have not in prior reads is the Mace chit. The art actually shows a morning star flail. A mace has a flanged head and a solid haft. A morning star has a spiked head and solid haft. A flail is flanged with a chain. A morning star flail is a chain with a spiked head. That's probably overly pedantic, especially since I never noticed it before. Ha.

    • @bluebotic2327
      @bluebotic2327  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ha, that's funny. I can't remember if I even researched that weapon at all before designing that chit. I added a disclaimer in one of my videos many months ago that I have no idea what an actual sword looks like or the various components of a sword. I've been making all this stuff up on the fly based on my 12 year old knowledge of these items....

      @@bluebotic2327 I watch too many medieval weapons videos on youtube at work.
      I recall Gary Gygax always publishing articles about the differences between various halberds and polearms. I think he did it mostly to spite the creative anachronism people that always tried to write "realistic" combat rules.

    re box size, on the one hand it's cool to think about future expansions having a place... on the other hand, the small box size you've been mocking up and showing is attractive. I don't quite know how TGC works on this, but for what it's worth: here's one person hoping to get a copy who wouldn't mind receiving the components + the small (art) box inside a larger (shipping) box, then punching things out to put it all in the small box. • @bluebotic2327
      @bluebotic2327  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe the game works quite well solo. It was designed from the ground to be be a solitaire game, but my friends wanted to try it multiplayer and it turned out to be pretty fun as a multiplayer game too. There is no scaling factor for player/hero count. The game is simply harder with 1 hero and easiest with 4 (as in real life). For a challenging game, you just play true solo. For a more social or relaxed experience you add more heroes and/or players. I'm not crazy about games that just double monster count or double monster damage. I'd rather design scenarios that cater to different hero counts.

    • @bluebotic2327
      @bluebotic2327  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd like to at some point. Funding, producing, and shipping a game is a HUGE undertaking. Especially as a one man studio. I'm barely carving out enough time each week to make art, write and edit rules, correct mistakes, and playtest. Kickstarter is a huge machine. Running a successful Kickstarter is a full time business in its own right. Not sure what the answer is really. I'd love to make the game available outside the US. I just don't know how as a one man studio. If it gains any traction here at all, I can increase my ambitions. GameCrafter is a way for me to get it 'up and running'. Then I can iterate and explore my options. If, for instance, 50 people buy this game in a nation of 300 million, then I probably won't crowdfund it to reach a broader market...

    • @heidevolk_le_gueux
      @heidevolk_le_gueux ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bluebotic2327 I understand your point, running a crowdfunding campaign is a huge work even more as a one man project. But for instance, gamecrafter is way less known than Kickstarter, the comparison might not be correct there, plus some crowdfunding campaign offer way better support regarding advertisement. Nonetheless I wish you good luck with that project, looks really promising and I hope I'll be, one day, able to grab a copy within EU 😇.
      PS : don't underestimate the power of building a solid community before doing any crowdfunding project even if it's on the gamecrafter platform, is a HUGE requirement for a successful project

      @@heidevolk_le_gueux absolutely. I couldn't agree more. Community is everything to me. Without this channel, there is zero chance I'd have finished this game. I've gotten mountains of insanely high quality feedback from viewers of this channel. I've implemented most of that feedback. I'm humbled by it really. My ultimate goal is to get the game into the hands of anyone that wants to play it. The print and play version will likely be free. People are also twisting my arm (and offering to help) build a TTS version which will also be free. And If I have to, I can always bulk order from GameCrafter to get the best deal and then mail out copies overseas from my local post office. If demand ever rises above dozens, to let's say 1000s of units, then I'd probably start taking Kickstarter seriously.

      Not really. I mean, in a parallel universe I could have designed a card game that attempts to do roughly what this game does. But, each component evolved over the course of 2 years to fulfill very specific design requirements. The hero and monster cards were poker sized when I started but that didn't work at all. And the map tiles need to be square to satisfy my preferences for tile laying games.

    Looks awesome. You must have a great printer at home. How did you print your own chits?

      I just print the chits on a home printer (Epson WF7720) and then spray mount them on chipboard and trim them with an Olfa blade and corner clip. I'll do a tutorial on how to Print and Play this game in the near future.

    Who did the art for your box? It looks great!

      Hey thanks a lot! I did all the art for the game. I got a lot of great feedback and art critique from viewers of this channel which allowed me to iterate on the art and get it where it needed to be.

    Nice! Any chance you might make a TTS mod?

      I'll give it some thought. It's a bit of work. If I can schedule some time for it, I might.

      @@bluebotic2327 That'd be great. It uses lua as a scripting language which is pretty much like python. I'd love to help out if you need to outsource anything.

      @@jorgenantonioelgueta7842 I really appreciate the offer. That's very kind of you. I installed TTS from Steam a couple months ago and read the API documentation and got pretty excited about building preset level and hero configs, etc. TTS seems like a very powerful tool and a great way to get the game in the hands of more gamers. I'll definitely add it to my 'serious consideration' list. After a I do a couple weeks of hard copy playtesting and shoot some tutorial vids, I'll revisit TTS. Thanks for your encouragement.

      ha. Yeah, I feel you. I'm finally back into development. This has been a weird year with several disruptions beyond my control. But I am back at it and will post an update very soon.
