- In this video I'll show you a larger, improved, version of the popular Scenic Ridge N scale layout. My version which is 32" x 80", has a hidden two-track staging area as well as six sidings and a longer passing track. It was created to fit on a panel door, popular as a layout base with many N scalers.
This layout was designed using the SCARM track design software equiped with a simulation extension which allows me to demonstrate a run with up to three trains at once. In this video I show you what the operation might look like using this extension.
Here's a partial list of the videos I have put out if you want to see earlier videos on my previous construction of the Scenic Ridge layout. The playlist is at the bottom.

Very nice. Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you. I really liked your first series so this is great too. Thank you for doing them.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
I am building another Scenic Ridge as well. My old one has been dismantled and long gone. I used Kato track before and will be using it again. My new one will offer more functionality and it looks like we are sharing some of the same design ideas. I look foward to watching more of your videos.
That's great! I'm looking forward to seeing your layout as well.
Actually, I built two Scenic Ridge kits just for the fun of it.
I’m like it. Very similar to what I did w/ my layout. 36x 96.
That's great! Thanks for the reply.
I have a Scenic Ridge kit, but I'm going to make it an Nn3 layout with a standard/narrow gauge interchange at the bottom.
Can you run a DC loc on a DCC layout
I'm not totally sure I understand your question. If you are talking about running both DCC and DC locos on the same layout, it can become tricky but possible. If you are asking about only running one DC loco on your layout, the wiring can be the same. Just use a DC power supply instead of a DCC power supply. If you want to run two or more DC locos on your layout at the same time, it becomes difficult as you need to break up your layout into "blocks" with lots of electrical switches and multiple power supplies (one for each loco). That's why DCC was invented.
