Nice design, however the bolts you put in the kevlar hinge you should have just put them in reverse. Having the smooth end of the carriage bolt coming into contact with hog and the nut side on top other than that it's pretty nice.
Glad you liked the video. I too have a few build projects in my near future. Chicken brooder and chicken tractors. But like you, waiting on warmer and drier weather.
I'm planning on making a few of these.i made waters out of plastic barrels this year and it's the best thing I've done. Cuts down on chores and wasted water
Cool feeder set up i don't farm but I do watch these sort of videos I saw a video recommending an Osborn pig feeder I don't know the price but it seems to work for them
Do the pigs knocked down the barrel or is it a sturdy set up . Just concerend if I built it like this I wouldn't have problems of the barrel getting knocked over
Really not sure if they would knock over or not. I put a T-post on each side and then a ratchet strap around the barrel just to be safe. never had one knocked over...
Back when I made this video I was using a locally milled ground corn/soybean complete pig feed. Since then, I have switched to a pellet version of the same. Still locally milled, still steroid free and growth-hormone feed.
@@WattsWayFarm I have 3 females 1 male berky...1 more month I will stagger 1 month matings...now the hard part is trying to sell them...what do you suggest is the best way to market other than Facebook marketplace and auctions?
@4DoorsMoreWhores We do timed batches as well. Exclusively wholes and halves for now. The "selling" creates the most anxiety in me as I don't do auctions. Can't even cover feed costs there. I use targeted FB ads, and am venturing into Google ads as well. Fortunately, we have a fair amount of repeat customers as well. But so far, we have been able to sell everything we have been able to produce, and the bigger our customer base becomes, the easier it is getting to sell all of our batches.
But in 2 weeks you'd have a could seal, now you've just got a waste of product and time... Flex steel always works very good for me..js.. Many Blessings, good content💜
I think they make a flex seal that you paint on with a brush. That may have worked better for my application. I don’t know. In the Spring I am going to pressure wash all of my feeders, I may try the brush on flex seal then…. Thanks for the comment!
As of right now, right at 35 total (feeders and breeders). We try to have 10 - 15 ready for processors every quarter. But we are scaling up our breeding stock and considering basically doubling that to the 120 - 150 a year range of the market continues to be there for us.
Thanks for the example but in all fairness to Flex Seal, you admitted not following the instructions and had you read the directions from the beginning, you would have seen the 24-48 hour requirement and you could have returned it and bought caulk.
Yup. Fair point. But still don’t think Flex Seal is a good application for raw untreated wood. It just sucks it up like and doesn’t form any sort of seal. Thanks for checking out my video and taking the time to leave a comment.

Thank you for a great video! I will be building this for my 4 pigs (as soon as it warms up and dries up long enough to stay outside to work!)

Do you have any picture or video?
Thank you for the excellent idea will be building one this weekend
Thanks for checking out my video! would love to hear how your build goes.
Carriage bolts should be turned the other way so the bolt isn't sticking out where the pigs snout is going in and out.
Perhaps. We haven’t had any issues with it.

How awesome! Thanks for checking out my channel!
I am impressed. Thanks
Great vid champ. Going away next week for a few days going too try this😉😁
Good luck!
Nice project
Thanks. I do enjoy our various farm projects!
Lots of spill. Could a 1x1 lip on the insides reduce that? Maybe 90 degree walls instead of sloped?

Thanks for checking out my video. I also have an Osborne feeder. There are a couple of videos on it too!
@@WattsWayFarm cool 😎
Wow beautiful farm sir..
Thanks for the kind words. We feel very blessed to have the opportunity to call this little piece of heaven on earth our own!
Great idea
Glad you think so!
This is lovely for me has a starter
Thanks for sharing!
The paint on flex seal is way better, the spray is definitely worthless.

Nice job. The barrel at TS is $130 now 😮
Nice setup! Question...
lasts 4 days...for how many pigs ?
what type of feed are you feeding?
Back when I made this video I was using a locally milled ground corn/soybean complete pig feed. Since then, I have switched to a pellet version of the same. Still locally milled, still steroid free and growth-hormone feed.
Did this hold up?
Are those berky's?
I do have berky’s, but in this video those are my mulefoots and mulefoot/Berkshire crosses.

There seems to be a lot of waste. Did the new design change this?
I like it.. :)
us too!
How long is it in total? From edge of 1 lid/door to the other
I don't know. I'll go measure it tomorrow and let you know!
Just measured it. It is 47” long from edge of 1 lid to the other. Hope this helps!
You don't have a cut sheet attached?
What is the length and width?
I wonder how many days will a full pig feeder last before going empty... Say for 8 pigs
But in 2 weeks you'd have a could seal, now you've just got a waste of product and time... Flex steel always works very good for me..js.. Many Blessings, good content💜

How did this work out for you long term? Did it work for a year?
In later videos he is using an Osborne Bulk Feeder. Not sure if he completely abandoned this design.
God bless you my friend.new subscribe.

The bulk feeder from TS . The pigs will demolish it in about week or two.
I’d let the feed run out and make them clean up the waste!
I see a lot of waisted feed on the ground
My thoughts way to big of holes pigs will waste to much feed
Feeders should only have 1/2 inch or less of feed in the bottom
Cut the bolts off under the flap!! 😬. I mean why leave it!!
The cost of lumber will bring this up to 150
Holy feed waste Batman. Not going to raise pigs economically with the area outside the feeder looking like a sandbox. Whew.
