Thanks for listening and commenting! Lotta great Dylan there. I love his late period stuff and Red River Shore is one of my all time favorite Dylan songs. Something I once wrote about my relationship with Bob's music... For me, Dylan is beyond rating, comparing, or analyzing. I don’t care so much about the relative quality of his songs, or how they fit into the music business hierarchy, his place in history, or the secret codes in his songs. I don’t hardly think in terms of good, better, or best when it comes to Dylan’s songs or albums anymore. I’m committed to being a witness to the outcome of his creative process. I’ll listen to anything he comes up with. I don’t have to like it. My interest in Dylan is not about liking or disliking his work, or even thinking too much about it. It’s about enjoying and witnessing his process. I also think anyone who listens to him is part of this creative process. If Bob didn’t need an audience for his work, he’d stay home and write songs for himself, or weld gates, or make whiskey. Clearly, he needs to have an audience. And he can’t be unaware of that audience when he writes and records albums or performs. There’s a kind of dialogue going on there. No matter how personal the song is, he’s singing to us after all, not alone in a room with the person he wrote it for. And who would that be? Who does he write for? As I see it, he writes for you my friend, and me. And when someone writes a song for me, do I think about how good or bad it is? I don’t. I just listen and give thanks. GB
Absolutely riveting performance - brilliantly sung and played. May I respectfully ask: "are you in standard tuning and which chords are you using. I too am a guitarist "of sorts" playing this song using G, C and D. Your chords sound fantastic, hence I am asking you to help me sound as good as you - if that's possible. Fellow Bob Dylan mega fan.
Well, thanks very much for the kind words. I'll make you a "how to play" this song video...maybe even today...and I'll post it right here. I'm not in standard tuning and my chords are a little weird but it's really not that hard. Stay tuned...
Bravo
I love, love, love this song....
Good cover, Gene.
Thanks! It's one of my all time favorite songs. GB
@@GeneBurnett Mine too... I cried a lot when I listened it for first time... and all time I listen to it in that magic Bob's voice...
I would give anything to have your beautiful clear voice. I am currently doing GarageBand karaoke with Red River Shore and Angelina. The following is simply a cut and paste from a youtube compilation of Bob posted by @OldHenryLee.

Song #33 therein is:
This Dream of You
Written by: Bob Dylan
How long can I stay in this nowhere café
'Fore night turns into day
I wonder why I'm so frightened of dawn
All I have and all I know
Is this dream of you
Which keeps me living on
There's a moment when all old things
Become new again
But that moment might have been here and gone
All I have and all I know
Is this dream of you
Which keeps me living on
I look away, but I keep seeing it
I don't want to believe, but I keep believing it
Shadows dance upon the wall
Shadows that seem to know it all
Am I too blind to see?
Is my heart playing tricks on me?
Too late to stop now even though all my friends are gone
All I have and all I know
Is this dream of you
Which keeps me living on
Everything I touch seems to disappear
Everywhere I turn you are always here
I'll run this race until my earthly death
I'll defend this place with my dying breath
From a cheerless room in a curtained gloom
I saw a star from heaven fall
I turned and looked again but it was gone
All I have and all I know
Is this dream of you
Which keeps me living on

I really love your reaction here! You are going to remember this day.
It is difficult to establish just what limits there are for Dylan.
He can't sing : th-cam.com/video/1yXgy8Oai84/w-d-xo.html
He can't sing high or clear: th-cam.com/video/uSdVOEKW5YA/w-d-xo.html

Two of my current favorites. We have them today - we have them today because of bootlegs

Gene, this is random. Nothing justifies inclusion of the following URLs I do it because I can.
Chris Smither - Nobody Home

He does a very respectable cover of Desolation Row.

Here you go. I included the lyrics and links to me playing the song in the video description.
