  • Art & Beer: The Drunken Cobbler a project by Portland-based artist Eric Steen attempted to develop yeast from a painting in the Museum, with the goal of creating beer based on the painting. Five local breweries were asked to create beer inspired by Jean-Baptiste Greuze's The Drunken Cobbler, an 18th-century painting in the Museum's permanent collection. A presentation and discussion given by Museum staff and participating brewers explored the painting, the process of creating the beers, the project's trajectory, and the parallels between the science of preserving art and the brewing process.
Participating Brewers: Widmer Brothers Brewing, Breakside Brewery, Ecliptic Brewing, Humble Brewing, and Laurelwood Brewing Co.
