Sorry for long post but if you didn't notice. I think the video is way deeper. The whole entire video not once did the girl didn't have any self preservation. Not when she's taking pills, waking up at night instead of the day, saying that her roommate is being taken advantage of the boyfriend (she's thinking about her roommate), goes to the store gets a bag of chips, candy, passing the garbage (aka behind the garbage can there is liquor), but even though she's not drinking she's still pounding energy drinks (def not healthy) every day even though she can't afford it, she doesn't stay put and keep silent or look for a exit, she could've ran out the door or find a exit instead she tackled the guy, then held at gunpoint by the boyfriend and even after he dies she reports the store manager was hurt, and the robbers are dead but yet her nose is broken and she doesn't say anything about it to the operator.
Did you ever think that each character other then the roommate are actual pieces of him the cashier is his bravery and the heroic him Aaron is his depression and negativity and the first robber is his ruthlessness and the second robber im not to sure about but they all seem like there not just there own people it seems that they are actually characteristics of himself and the robbery is the war in his head and hes pretty much saying that with this track and atvthe end of the day hes still gonna be Aaron at least thats what he believes. What im trying is he still believes that he is still gonna be depressed and hate himself until the end. Our “story” for allot of us who have gone through so much in life, can bring us down to very lower points and often we don’t bounce back. We drown our sorrows in not caring for ourselves, doing our daily routines, while medicating us with comfort food, money, pills, alcohol, or other things that hold no value to make life somewhat bearable. By doing allot of that, we live mediocre lives because the depression and anxiety can often make us think we are nobody and we don’t deserve anything. That can also be very self-destructive cause we find meaning in helping others while still not caring of us. It can be perceived by the person as being heroic but in actuality its arrogant. Its understandable if there is no other choice but if there was a way to not risk your life and help at the same time that would be better. For NF, he has gone through allot and found unhealthy ways of dealing with his burdens (balloons). Based on his other songs he tried other things. I think the moral of the story is that She has all these horrible habits and lets them kill her, but when its life or death in a dramatic scene she's willing to fight. She finally overcame her BS and fought for her life. Think about it, starts off with having a bad day, taking Excedrin, staring at her phone screen, letting her POS roommate's BF stay, drives with no gas in her car, get cigarettes, gets chips and candy, grabs an energy drink she cant afford to keep drinking... This might be a stretch, but the lyric asking God to bring future blessings to her present enhances the idea that this moment is life and death and shes willing to fight for it, but doesn't care about all the other things in her life that are slowly killing her. TLDR, you have to look at the habits that are killing you as if they are life and death, even if they dont seem that way because they are.
