When Shaun says that even though he knew 9x6 was 54 he still got laughed at, it was a subtle way of saying that even with the right answer people can still die.
Hmm. Shaun usually isn't subtle. 🤔 I guess learned it. He is usually blunt and open, to the point that sometimes you don't even know he just insulted someone.
What happened to her happened to all of us. We've all been there, the first day of work, first week of training, first week of school. The feeling of unfamiliarity and the feeling of people judging you every step of the way. It's nerve-wracking, you scared that you might screw up. I know that feeling too well. But i always have a hope in mind, "it might be hard at first, it might be mentally exhausting at first, but things will get better" We just have to go through it. It's better to do the best that you can and fail, then to not do your best and fail. Because if you do your best and fails, at least you know that you have put everything to do it. Instead of not doing your best and fails, and then you start wonder what would happen if you actually do your best, but you can never answer that question because you didn't do it.
He is very objective about things. Whatever we are emotional about doesn't actually touch him that way. So he seems to be unnerved on several things we are afraid of.
@@kjigmyy4756 i mean the phrase explain itself but I’ll try to when she was at school she gave the wrong answer in class everyone laughed at her so she started to get nervous now when she’s in the hospital when she answer wrong no one will laugh like the class but someone can die
When Shawn asks ”How do you feel,” it reminds me of the beginning of Star Trek IV when the computer asks (the half Vulcan/half Human) Spock that same question. Also, is Shawn going to tell the 1st-years that he has Autism? He hasn't hidden that fact in the 1st 3 seasons. As someone on the Autism Spectrum myself, I've found that once people are aware of this fact, they’ll realize there's a reason when I do things that, if a ”neurotypical” person did them, would be considered inappropriate. (I.e. When Shawn stops in the middle of a medical situation to ask one of the residents how they feel.)
By this discussion, Shaun reassures her. She was putting pressure on herself. Through this discussion, she received the message: I am like you (judgment of others, pressure) and I have become an experienced doctor, you will get there too.
@@christina113704 I agree. People realize I am neurodivergent sometimes and I mask well (I thought.) (I know my way of speaking blends in a bit more and is not quite so monotone.) In the last decade there has been a lot more general awareness and understanding and Shaun definitely has more easily observable traits, so yeah, they likely already know.
I’m curious If you had to rank the best surgeons on the show how would it play out? Mine would be 1. Melendez 2. Andrews 3. Lim 4. Glass man (post cancer) 5. Browne
1) Melendez - superhuman surgeon who is able to do all kinds of superspecialist procedures - wouldn't be heard of in reality. From neurosurgery to hpb to urology to ir - even though his speciality is cardiac lol. 2) Lim - as above 3) Andrews - as above but a bit more limited 4) Shaun 5) Browne 5) Glassman ( only a neurosurgeon)
I tried watching The Good Doctor but I find it too heartbreaking. As someone with Autism the reality is you just don't get the breaks in life. I have a postgraduate education and stack shelves as a job.
@zetta _ I have always been targetted by bullies because I see right through them, but after I ended the careers of two bullies, they learned to leave me alone. I have been in for almost 14 years. 11 more to go and then I get my Federal Government Pension: something my birth parents never achieved.
all these shows be making med school look so fun, when its totally not. These shows are coping mechanisms for medical students and allows them to fantasize that all will be over soon :)
Does anyone understand why the senior residents are mentoring the 1st years, but weren;t mentored by senior residents themselves when they came in, but rather by the very best sergeons the hospital had to offer?
Because it's a TV show? And writers didn't think of that in earlier seasons and now it's a great opportunity to force main characters to learn something? And make them grow as people?
@@awkwardfreakinperson7936 I'm not saying he is not aware of other peoples' pain, but rather that he lacks the ability to show he cares and to provide any comfort.
I’m way behind on the show , why would they have Sean be a teaching surgeon it made sense to move him to pathology with his intelligence and lack of social skills , if he passed residency I would think he would move on to a full surgeon . Having him teach seems like the worst thing for his abilities
I like Lea, I prefer her. Glad "Carly" (what a silly name) is gone, so glad. At least Lea is young and beautiful, she also understands Shaun and has patience with him at least as much as Carly did. She's also his first true love, i see no problem there, win-win.
She seems like a genuinely good person and she is a beautiful woman.

Olivia and Shaun are great working together as a team
Probably because Shaun is learning social skills and she is nervous. They're learning from each other

Personally (even if they don't work neuro), they should have figured that out by themselves even as first years. It's pretty easy to spot. 🤷♀️
