They do acknowledge in the rulebook that Koalas aren't bears. " Although koalas are not really bears, people like koalas, so we will be including them in our park!"
"Like an infinite ice cream buffet that stretches out to the horizon and glistens in the sun" -- I'm pretty sure this is the only board game review site where you'd hear that phrase. :)
Great stuff, cracking review Paul. Really pleased to hear it directly compared to Patchwork, those like-for-like comparisons have always been one of the hallmarks of the SU&SD review formats from the ye olde days. Glad to see it alive. Someone else in the comments mentioned Cottage Garden, I'd be curious how this compared?
Great review Paul! I played this once at a local shop and liked it very much. I have several tile laying games in the gateway category already but this one, much like in Goldilocks, may be just right. My partner and I didn't much like Patchwork, but we both really enjoyed Barenpark! Plus all the pieces ACTUALLY FIT TOGETHER. Thanks again Paul! Bye!
I can bearly stand this review, not only is it too bear bones but the bearfaced cheek of it, please don't bearate me for this opinion, you're just going to have to grin and bear it.
Paul's rant is actually on point: koalas DON'T belong in a bear park. Grizzly bears, polar bears, and pandas are all more closely related to skunks, seals, and dogs than they are to koalas, just as koalas are more closely related to wombats, kangaroos, and possums than they are to bears!
paul here says "you'll want to" expand your park to fit more stuff, but he didn't mention you MUST expand your park since you have to cover all 4 tiles to end the game and it's very hard to not place tiles on the spot that expands the park
I can bearly believe how good this game is. It's unbearable. Pure pandamonium. It's just a polar opposite of a bad game. This is a game for the game cub-by .ok that last one was just embearassing. I'm really scraping the bottom of the bearell at this point.
You say Patchwork is better? Patchwork has a downside. It is as tedious and boring as darnng socks.. If I wanted to do patchwork I'd take sewing lessons.
Yes, Barenpark looks Hella more interesting visually than patchwork, and the idea of building a park for bears is better than, what was patchworks idea?
Cottage Garden seems like a better spiritual expansion of Patchwork to 4 players to me. I mean, it doesn't have buttons, but it has *kittens*! I wonder if SU&SD has had a chance to check it out?
I am very sorry, but the toilet champion game of all time is surely Klaus Teubers Drunter&Drüber/Wacky Wacky West from 1991 which has almost 20 toilets, AND they are also clearly stated in the rulebook to be the most relevant buildings of all!
Fun fact for you Paul; I just heard that some clever science-type boys and girls have recently sequenced the koala genome. They probably hadn’t watched this episode yet.....🤣
I'm sorry but why isn't Paul in a bear costume...... something like a koala costume? The stupid opener with costumes is what brings meaning to my life.
They do acknowledge in the rulebook that Koalas aren't bears. " Although koalas are not really bears, people like koalas, so we will be including them in our park!"
The German rules go as far as to claim "everybody likes koalas". They obviously have not watched this review.
@@Zejety Or a Cushelle commercial
Are you saying they don't have the necessary Koalafications to be a bear?
Wahey!
06:30 YOU WENT TO A REAL BEAR STATUE FOR THE VIDEO? LOL
and a bear park
you guys always take your reviews to the next level
"Like an infinite ice cream buffet that stretches out to the horizon and glistens in the sun" -- I'm pretty sure this is the only board game review site where you'd hear that phrase. :)
But, but... wouldn't the ice cream melt?
Also the reason this is my Review site of choice .

I never knew i wanted a game about organising bears. Now its all I want. Thanks Paul
Now did Paul make this video because he found that bear statue and wanted it in an appropriate video, or visa versa?
The good old days of SUSD.
Great Job Paul, another koality video!
Out of all of their reviews, I've never seen a single instance of panda-ring to the viewers.

hahaha loved this review, thanks shut up and sit down, love your videos more and more every day
May be the greatest Su&SD intro...no Prisoner shot for shot spoof but its 5 AM and I've been watching it for hours oh deargod
Would you pick Barenpark over Cottage Garden?
I can bearly stand this review, not only is it too bear bones but the bearfaced cheek of it, please don't bearate me for this opinion, you're just going to have to grin and bear it.
I can bearly contain my excitement

Yikes, the trash talking about Koalas did NOT age well, considering they're now critically endangered.
Still a great review though!
7 koalas disliked this.
4:51 My head hears central pool but my soul hears central Paul
best bear documentary ever. 10/10
Guys, I get the feeling that Paul really likes bears.
I can bearly believe how good this game is. It's unbearable. Pure pandamonium. It's just a polar opposite of a bad game. This is a game for the game cub-by .ok that last one was just embearassing. I'm really scraping the bottom of the bearell at this point.
I can't believe I had to *bear* this.
That last one was not terribly high koalaty.
Wow, I think I see the building that I live in during the downtown backdrop scenes!
I just know that the entire reason Paul did this review is because he wanted to use that large bear statue shot.
Love that you actually went to a Zoo :-)
Paul Dean. We love you.
For those wondering, no the game does not answer the question 'What kind of bear is best?'.
Hahaha, I almost spit my water out during that koala rant.
Koala's gave One Direction chlamydia, they can't be all bad Paul
"Knowledge of koalas should be a crime!" hahahahaha
Barenpark is better than patchwork, patchwork dies at the end of the game.
This review is solid gold
This is the first time I own a game before I've seen a SU&SD review of it. And this game is AWESOME!
Nice review, I even feel like I'm ready to play it in Bear Game Arena. Now in ALPHA!
Koalas are simply unbearable.
paul must have moved to canada to get closer to the bears.
One of the best reviews I've seen. Hilarious too!
Excellent Koala rant! Keep up the great work
BEAR-ST. REVIEW. EVER. Keep up the great work guys. Going now to wipe the tears of laughter from my stinging eyes.
Is his T-shirt from when they played Japan in the alien megagame?
It is!
@@shutupandsitdown any way a fan can buy a copy of one of those?

Great Goldblum laugh, Paul!
I am with you man! What the fuck is a Koala anyway?! Definitely not a bear! Not with that nose shaped like a cup groin protector!
are you sure they're koalas? Perhaps they're dropbears...
That intro alone makes me want to buy this game lol
Another brilliant, amusing, informative, video. Well done!
Cottage Garden seems like a better spiritual expansion of Patchwork to 4 players to me. I mean, it doesn't have buttons, but it has *kittens*! I wonder if SU&SD has had a chance to check it out?
Niw I want to play it... to bad because I can't find a copy of it online.
Barenpark is clearly better than patchwork as BEARS. End of discussion.

11:49 - yeah boi i culd - Amazing!
Best intro ever
Listen to me. Listen. Are you in the Bear Bizness!
That obnoxious Jeff Goldblum laugh was perfect.
This is a video of Paul Dean reviewing Paul Dean: The Game.
I approve.
All the bear crap around your place is a nice touch. The magnets on the refrigerator, etc...
I knew exactly who reviewed this just by looking at the title :D
Gotta watch out for the drop bears mate, don't be fooled !
I'm sorry but why isn't Paul in a bear costume...... something like a koala costume? The stupid opener with costumes is what brings meaning to my life.
Bears. Beats. Battlestar Galactica.
I wish there'd been an insert too, Paul. :'(
Isn't the insert the three cardboard pieces with numbers on them?
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
Good gateway game , short plus good for families (children).
You guys are the best...... but Patchwork is rather boring, IMO.
A man going mad from Canada
Beware Big Bear Bowling Ball Bite!
Dang, the fencing around that bear enclosure looks flimsy.
Out the gate I want a reskin for Tiger King.
They don't have zip lock bags in Canada?
Koala's aren't bears but PAUL GODDAMMIT MAN, there's no grizzlies in this game, they are Gobi Bears :(
Does it have more toilets than Steam Park?
Tetris... the boardgame
Koalas are called Koalabears in the Nethelands. Maybe in Germany too?
Keep the bears away from my pears
When did Grouse mountain get two bears?
well that was just delightful.
Where is this Bear zoo located ?!?!?
Out with koalas. In with Swear Bears!
So this guy is in charge of the tile placement games department.
I cringed when he hit his laptop against the table at 2:34
Koala's should be replaced by Drop bears
that's an oddly specific theme !
Hilarious review as always!
Koalas bring in the dollar dollar bills yo.
Barenpark is far superior to Patchwork. By a wide margin. Not even close.
I will Bear with you but I may have to PAWS the video ;-)
That's a lot of bears...
Bearcasonne? Mad Bear Ludwig? Galactic Truckbear?
I bearly made it through this whole review.
I love bears. They are so great
bear down for midterms
Ohh, now I get it...
DON'T FEED THE BEARS OR THE BEARS WILL FEED ON YOU!!
This is a game made for Pual
This review is just as long as a game of Bearpark takes
Why shouldn't the game include drop bears?
That laugh
I bear with people all the time. Roar!
