      The irony is, young children who've been untainted by homophobia have no trouble at all understanding this, whereas this grown-ass man is utterly perplexed by it.
      My own two children - both the product of a straight marriage - were raised alongside several children with parents who were either two women or two men, all dear friends of our family. We even took a Disneyland vacation with one of these families. My kids had ZERO problem understanding it.
      It wasn't until my kids got a little older and started noticing homophobia that they had trouble understanding THAT. Explaining homophobia to my children was far more difficult, frankly.

    For anyone who doesn't know Ali's background, he's a stand up comedian who tells stories largely around his experiences in the Jail and prison systems so his anti-gay position might be from prison culture, not political or religious culture. Not justifying it, he's still completely wrong on all accounts, just giving some potential background info.

    • @maggyfrog
      @maggyfrog 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      it could also be that his fundamentalist view on religion is also from the prison culture.
      but it is interesting that the prison culture would indeed cultivate this clear black-and-white anti-gay position. reminds me of that scene in atlanta with the black trans and how everybody mocked the other black guy to tears.

      @@averywealthyman4194 Not entirely sure if “wow cry me a river” means you think I was defending him but just in case let me clarify that I said “Not justifying it at all, he’s still completely wrong on all accounts”. I was just adding clarification to Kyle’s commentary in the video at 7:05 about being raised in a fundamentalist household implicating Ali’s bigoted view to religion. 10:30 when he said “I don’t know enough about this guy Ali Sadiq but often times the same conservatives” implicating political ideology and also admits he doesn’t know the potential source of his beliefs and could use additional insight. 11:20 when Kyle says “you were raised in a fundamentalist environment” (despite the fact Kyle may have been speaking in general terms here, not directly about Ali). So I was just bringing up that prison culture can be pretty anti-gay as well and there are multiple rotes to take to be instill such backwards thinking and having a bigoted mentality but yes, at the end of the day a bigot is a bigot regardless of their “reason” so we’re on the same side here just with slightly different energy lol. I was merely stating that in addition to religious fundamentalists and political conservatives as the basis for an anti-homosexuality view point, two things neither Kyle nor I know for sure about Ali’s life specifically despite it being the go to reason’s Kyle mentioned in this video, prison culture is also typically anti-gay and I for sure knew Ali specifically filters most of his world views through the lens of a former inmate as shown in his stand up comedy so once again was only giving potential background info on this specific person who Kyle had admitted in the video he doesn’t know that much about.

Like a human brain is so extraordinary, but like they waste the best thing in this universe being wrong with a quantum computer in their head. To recap, literally a quantum computer that has more space than any computer. And they literally on purpose have to fight their brains innate sense of trying to understand the world to make it black and white. If they were a computer youd throw it away if it kept adding wrong. But in social interactions their ideas are never deleted they just stick around and even get called valid by some. Its illogical.

      Feel free to dislike, this is a very uncomfortable story.
      One time my cousin asked me to walk his very large unhinged dog that weighed more than me. I tried to gently guide it, but it growled and got in a lunging position… I just did what came naturally and kicked it right in the snout and gave a battle cry. It understood the message, I never needed to do that again and I tried to be nice to the dog later on (show it affection, give it treats, etc), even defending it from another dog once. I’d like to believe me and that dog are cool now.
      Dogs were bred to think somewhat like humans socially: the ones raised by people obsessed with the concept of dominance (or in a community of dogs where that is the “dog culture”) will have adorable little authoritarian personalities. Unfortunately, these dogs only speak the one-dimensional language of dominance (as opposed to the dogs raised properly to only be motivated by unconditional love), and if you ever find yourself on the wrong side of a dog who thinks he could kick your ass, abuse might be the only recourse in a flash.
      Still, this guy sounds like such an authoritarian dumbass, he probably wouldn’t know the difference between a playful dog and an aggressive one; DEFINITELY not a guy who could raise a dog to be unconditionally loving when he spends so much time trying to discredit people’s sense of love😂

      @@Revengetoa2 the issue with dogs and their behaviour is very similar to the issue with human behaviour. Any single standalone instance does not even give relevant information.
      The personality of animals, humans included, is developed over the course of their life. To be disciplined or well behaved, the animal, humans included, must have constant reinforcement over the course of its life. An untrained dog, or child, needs stronger reinforcement depending on how long they have gone without reinforcement.
      In many cases, especially if the animal is unfamiliar with you, strong reinforcement can send a permanent message but will not impact their behaviour away from you. The way to prevent needing something like "dominance assertion" is to do it gently over a long period, every time the animal tries to do something that you do not accept. Well trained animals will usually respond to very very little input, usually just a look or a sound, from those that trained them.
      Even animals that have been reasonably well trained, even if that training has relaxed a lot, will at least give serious consideration to commands.

      I think the evidence is a little more basic than that.. A community of people (2 or more) raising a child is what matters. Doesn't matter if they are blood, fathers, mothers, aunts or uncles... Children watching multiple people working together, helping them, helping each other... That's what matters. That's what's missing when only 1 parent is raising a child. Does not make it wrong, but definitely is different for children than the alternative.

    Just gonna note that these subjects are a lot more nuanced than people tend to think. There are actually _Left_ arguments against surrogacy, too. A brief example:
    Patriarchy oppresses women in order to make a commodity of and extracts value from female reproductive capacity. When we prioritize the fetus over the woman, we dehumanize her by treating her as merely a means of (re)production from which value is to be extracted. Surrogacy likewise treats a woman as a mere means of (re)production, perhaps even more obviously, as it amounts to renting her body. If we accept that people should not be used as capitalist resources, then we should not approve of exploiting women's reproductive function.

When these types of men get really uncomfortable when the topic comes up, they don’t know how to process their feelings. It’s always the ones that yell the loudest 😉

      @bobby macallister cause that's his podcast, good God. He likes to talk to comedians, fighters and generally interesting people. This guy was a comedian. If you only invite people you agree with it makes for a very boring conversation. It's the same with a debate, you can't really have a debate with someone who agrees with you all the time, you need to have some opposition to sharpen your points. Look you may not like Rogan I don't know, I assume you don't. But if you really want to get a fair sense of who he is, just listen to some of his podcasts. He invites people from all walks of life, but it usually falls under few very broad camps. Either they are just interesting people, fighters or they are comedians. These descriptors can intermix as well. And I say broad cause they are interesting to him, this could mean one day he has a politician on and another day he might have a musician or a climate scientist, or a professional spear fisher. He doesn't control what they might saying certain topics, he doesn't hand them a list of topics, he just brings them on and goes from there.

    • @affmcustoms
      @affmcustoms 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @bobby macallister and that's fair, but I think you should be open to hearing differing views. Certainly some things can be truly insane, but I would rather hear them so that we know it's out there and potentially have their views crushed and you just never know some people will actually question those views down the line. If you haven't seen it, I would encourage you to watch Rogan's first podcast with Daryl Davis, or just look up Daryl Davis. Super interesting man.
      Unfortunately we are just humans, and a lot of us have some dumb ass views, but some aren't so far gone that they can't be changed.
      My mother used be against gay marriage despite having gay friends, friends who I called my uncles, who are still my uncles to me despite no blood relation. But my mother was raised catholic and that was enough for her not to agree with gay marriage. She is not against it anymore and a more open person now, but it always baffled me growing up. I would argue with her when I was in high school. People will disappoint you from time to time, but that doesn't mean they are terrible to the core. We are all capable of a great things and truly terrible things, we have to acknowledge that in order to be better people. Listening to differing views can be a way to challenge your beliefs or further strengthen them. Anyway don't want to bore you with my speal. Take care and be safe.

    @10:20 I’ve heard this statistic and my understanding is that it’s because it’s quite hard for gay parents to adopt so they have to be exceptionally more successful and put together than an average heterosexual couple in order to successfully adopt, so there’s a bias in the population of children being raised by gay parents; those that do are more likely to be raised by competent, caring and diligent parents who worked very hard to become those parents, which is obviously a beneficial trait for parenthood.

    Anti-Sodomy definitely stems out from religious/cultural upbringing. I don’t know if this man is religious, but his opinion is not unique. In the black community, even gay men are somehow obligated to act tough and hard at all times, which is mentally devastating.

      Strong family structures don't require exclusively 2 parents (regardless of gender). It just require strong-minded moral parents who actively work towards their child's physical and mental health. If a single one can pull it off that's fine, kudos to them.
      A single good parent vs. 2 lousy parents -> judgmental primitive people who judge books by their covers will be like: "that single parent is awful for their child! Why can't (s)he be married like this other couple?"
      Appearances mean squat. Action say all. If you're not involved in other people's lives, you don't get to judge them without knowing anything about them. That's a bigoted way of thinking.
