I think we should not disturb the root ball. Just cut the soil along with roots and fill the empty space with new soil and compost. Otherwise the tree goes into shock and it takes more time to recover. Growing season is of very less time. We need to grow heavy root ball while the plant is just a sapling. Occasional leaf pruning is still ok but more leaves means more food for the plant to grow thickness.

can I big banyan tree be grown from cuttings I have heard that first banyan needs a host tree for support in its initial stages and then it kills the host tree , so If there is no host tree will this cutting become a big banyan tree ?

Fruiting will occur on mature plants and depends on feeding also

Fruiting will happen on right time and right condition. Concentrate on the health of your plant. Make the soil fluffy and aerated so that roots can breathe oxygen and grow. Scratch the surface of the soil so that air can enter it. Use tea leaves to soften the soil. Use DAP to nourish the plant which helps in thickening of trunk and heavy growth of roots in less time. Spray NPK fertilizer, a pinch in a litre of water regularly, not large amount at once. Banyan needs plenty of sunlight. Denying sunlight leads to sluggish growth.
