For me it's lot of fun watching Tiger regardless of his scores. His get out of trouble swings are always entertaining.

I look at this way, he played better than Rory or Sergio, and is in the top 20, not bad.
Just imagine taking that Double Bogey away....Can't have those holes, but he's looking good out there. Really scrambling in each of his tournaments thus far.

It's cool to see the pros playing these tough courses in tough conditions, instead of a leaderboard with -10 after first round. These guys are good!

Definitely signs of improvement over the course of this season. Tiger looks more flexible, and he seems to be hitting more fairways and greens. Carry on and we hope to see you holding the cup on one Sunday soon.

Tiger looked good. Even with his missed 150 yard cut 6 iron that lead to a double on one of the easiest holes on the course and shooting 1 over on the bear trap, you can see how he easily could have made 4 or 5 more putts, and if you combine that with him maybe hitting that 6 iron into the par five close instead of into the bunker, you can tell he's basically steps away from where he was in his prime.
Why is he still using his driver from the tee ?? His 2-iron tee shot looks so cool and he is way more accurate with it.

He games looks really good besides the driver. I wish he took that 2-iron off every tee. If he hits a few more fairways this is easily a 2-4 under round
He was driving great at Hero with the M2, I am not buying into this twist face technology especially for a pro who knows how to use gear effect of a traditional face to more the ball left and right. He had the M3 at both Torrey, and Riviera and drove the ball like crap. Of course lets be honest, if you can drive the ball 297 with a 2 iron, not sure the driver matters.
He would be hitting long irons into small greens sometimes and giving up 30-50 yards to competitors on longer holes. No way can he abandon the 350 yard driver even if it is off line. He can always play from the rough and still score. I see him contending in majors this season and winning one or more over the next two or three seasons IF the back holds up.
I'd rather see him hit a few longer approaches considering how much more in control over his long irons he seems. I'd be surprised if those drives are going anywhere near 350, and frankly he was fortunate to be able to have the lies/angles to still go at the greens when he missed. Anything 450 and under I'd still personally like to see him take that 2 iron.
Highlights?
Looks like he is playing decent. I think he will be playing well soon. Some loose shots. I think he needs to stabilize his body more. When his body is out of position, he gets out of sync and club is out of position. Smoother tempo as well and he will be trending up.

His short game for the most part is good enough to win tourneys. Needs to fix the driver and he will get another major.

I strongly believe that the only thing standing in the way of Tigers comeback is his mindset, he has to realise the Tiger from the past is gone, he has such good iron shots that he shouldn’t try and bomb every driver shot, if he swings 90% instead of always 110% I think he would hit a lot more fairways and we all know how good he is from the fairway..the statistic speaks for itself with 35% hit fairways.. don’t make golf more complicated that it needs to be.
Everyone is so critical about his game! It's his third actual competitive PGA tournament.... give the guy a break!

Tiger bogeyed the par 5, if he'd birdied or even pared it, he would've been 2 or 3 under. There's a lot of positives to take from this round. One less bad whole like that tomorrow and he'll be on the leaderboard for sure

Tiger just doesn't have it anymore, why some people still think he does blows my mind. It's time to let go of the past.
Positives:
- Back is a non issue
- No limitations in swing
- Confidence in swing
Negatives:
- Extremely rusty, especially around greens
- Putting
- Lack of concentration

Needs to watch shoulder posture with driver, I don't think he is paying attention to weather he is slouching forward or keeping ridged. Needs to work on positioning his shoulder blades.

Please tiger woods work on your driver off the tee. And your tee shots.
The problem with Tiger is that he's playing a fade producing swing but he's naturally always been under the ball and played a draw. He's never going to be consistent if he keeps it up and I think he has to because his old swing was too much strain on the left knee. I think it would be really lucky for Tiger to contend in a 4 day tournament because that kind of consistency when you're fighting your own swing is almost impossible to achieve over 4 days.

He really needs to sit down with Taylormade and a good club fitter to sort this driver/shaft combo out. It's just not working at all...cost him at least 4 shots this round.

Average, he is in the top 20, seven rounds after what realistically was a two year layoff. Who else would be in contention? Rory, Serigo, Kazzire have all won this year and are behind Tiger?
