  • Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, addresses the general debate of the 78th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (New York, 19 - 26 September 2023).
    The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making organ of the Organization. Comprising all Member States, it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations. Each of the 193 Member States of the United Nations has an equal vote.
    The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently made up of 193 Member States, the UN and its work are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter.
    The UN has evolved over the years to keep pace with a rapidly changing world.
    But one thing has stayed the same: it remains the one place on Earth where all the world’s nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find shared solutions that benefit all of humanity.

    Powerful speech. This should be on mainstream news. It saddens me that when European countries are enthralled in turmoil the whole world is watching, but when it’s Africa, the world turns a blind eye. As long as resources from Africa continue to flow outside the continent white powers could care less. I say the solution: Close your borders to countries and world powers who do not have your best interest at heart and only care about the progression of their own countries and people. Eliminate the corruption in house. African countries should unite and come together. We know that’s what the powers to be fear most, a United Africa that would control the world’s economic structure.

    • @cbus12ll27
      @cbus12ll27 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you want to do with your enormous resources if you do not a functioning economy yourself just stare at it for the next decade and becoming poorer? China gets cheaper stuff from Russia atm. And that is beside of the fact that the money from your resources anyway do not help the africans but the politicans only so they would not jepoardize that anyway :)

    My punch line from the President of Ghana was that of billion dollars leaving Africa annually through illicit ways! He didn’t even need to explain who asked him to say it because it should anger him too as an African leader.
    The global financial systems are not constructed for our benefit but for the enrichment of all Westerners who have settled in our continent as their second home and the Western countries where they came from.
    The systems must be changed to benefit everyone in the world. ‘No one must be left behind’ shouldn’t be just a slogan but an action statement for a peaceful world!

    Is there anything more shameful than this on earth?
    Every year at the annual meeting of the United Nations in New York, when the President of the United States appears on the stage to give a speech, all the representatives of each country in the UN hall applaud the hall.
    When the President of the United States finished his speech, applause broke out in the hall.
    The sad thing is that the hall will be empty.
    Only a small audience will listen to the speeches presented by the leaders of Latin America, Asia, and Africa, who will speak in the UN Hall next.
    This Americans controlled organization calls world leaders to a meeting in New York every year, whether the meeting is held or not, it will not bring peace or equality to our world.

    • @sherifffolarin701
      @sherifffolarin701 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good observation. Not only that, once the US president is about speaking, the hall is full; once he's done speaking, the hall becomes empty and other leaders speak to empty chairs.

      No one makes those diplomats sit there and listen speeches. They do it at will. And don't compare two incomparable countries. America is the biggest economy, the strongest army and the most influential country in the world, that's why America has more respect than other countries. And you are comparing America with ghana🤦‍♂️ Think before speaking, don't shame yourself

    • @momwanafunziuumbaji3737
      @momwanafunziuumbaji3737 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The person defending the disrespect is typical. Using words like strong, powerful, biggest economy and says nothing about America's massive debt, North Korea selling weapons to Russia with impunity, China loaning the US billions, nothing about the reality of America, only the fantasies and fake wealth. We need ALL countries to get through this. My point was proven, and it will continue, DISRESPECT IS A VIRTUE.

I think they should start talking about what they have done and achieved in their various countries before they speak about other things concerning the world. As his talking to the world right now the people in Ghana are facing some serious economic hardship with no jobs and the youths can’t find work to do and that’s what he needs to address to the world!!..

    Just like in the bible, good seed was sown in a field but an enemy sown weeds among the wheat while the workers asleep. There is good and bad in this situation. The good one who have seen good work and appreciation will testify, and the bad one will always blame and insult because they allowed their minds to be deceived.

    Africa should have their own financial system, where they borrow from their own African Bank Why they need any international system? Make your products, if you can't produce competitive products put condition that products must be made on continent, like India. Simple.

    Africa should end beating around the bush and solve its problems head on. To do so requires uniting as one united Africa as Kwame Nkrumah stood for. Pause all external dealings for a while until we are ready!

      @@amokessie1329i hate this excuse, no one forced the Akufo Addo government to drive public debt up from 120.8 million cedis to 600 million cedis. Why did they print 80 million cedis withour parliamentary approval and on top of that he refuses to fire his incompetent cousin of a finance minister.
