    Your English is great- It is detectable that you are not a native speaker because you are being careful, but you are more fluent and have better diction and use of vocal than most (lazy) native speakers. Your organization is excellent too, orienting the viewer to where you are within your content. If I had to come up with one suggestion, it would just be to relax and allow yourself to be a little more comfortable and expressive. Well done. I appreciate the information.

    I'm an intermmediate learner. Pimsleur is great for speaking practice. It teaches a little and re-enforces what you know. You'll see there's like hundreds of people that pass N2 and N1 and can't speak. They can write, read, listen, but they can't have a converstion. Pimsleur teaches you how to have a normal conversation using mostly polite japanese. Polite Japanese is crucial to starting a casual friendship so I reccomend this to the intermediate learners too if you're self studying. It won't be the way most people learn, but atleast people will say "I like you you're very polite." It'll help you think faster and respond faster in Japanese which is a skill that it takes most people atleast 6 months of living in Japan to have. P.S. I think its a bit difficult for total begginners but better for someone who's studied or been exposed to Japanese for atleast a month or so atleast,

      Thanks for the comment! 🙂 Yes talking politely is very important for the Japanese people. In fact I may have been overly polite hahaha. The last time I speak with some Japanese teens who are much younger than me, I talked to them the same way I would with an adult. Maybe it's kind of cringe to them 😂 but my Japanese is not that good anyway so yeah

    Interesting. I've never used Pimsleur for any languages that I've learned. For Japanese I started with Busuu and now I am on Japanese Pod 101. I chose Busuu because I had already used it when I learned Polish. I found the Japanese Busuu course even better than the Polish one; really well structured, with just enough grammar explanations, and some kanji work. Along with Genki, it gave me a good foundation. Now I am just listening to intermediate level lessons on Japanese Pod 101 and reading random stuff on the internet.

    Azzam, all five levels took you only about 5 months studying about 1 hour a day?? It took me two and a half years to finish all five levels of French. I was studying 2+ hours a day (listening to the same lesson 4 times a day and then doing flash cards, quiz etc) and it took me 3 or 4 (or even 5 days) per lesson. Now I can speak that makes me very satisfied with Pimsleur course and I plan to use it to learn Spanish some time in future.
    Regarding time that it takes to complete Pimsleur. I know that there are full-time language schools that get you conversational after a year. So it's similar to amount of hours that I spent. It's hard to believe that it's possible to be conversational in only 150 hours!

    Hi did u use some supplemental materials ?
    I ve been doing Pimsleur Japanese Level 1. It was fine in the first few lessons, but things got difficult later, as I was repeatedly confused by little words like wa, wo, ga, which are attached to nouns. I didn't know which of them I was supposed to say.
    After finishing the 10th lesson, I tried another audio course called Michel Thomas, in which the instructor gave explanations on those little tricky words.
    I think I will be using both of these two courses.

    • @azzamfs
      @azzamfs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! Thank you for the reply!
      When I was using Pimsleur, I did not use other materials because I wanted to focus on it. Yes, I remember I was confused a bit with the "wa, wo, ga" particles during the early parts of the level. But I pressed on and continued with the lessons anyway. If there's a bit that I don't quite understand like this one, I looked it up on the internet. For this particular question, these helped me a lot: www.japan-guide.com/forum/quereadisplay.html?0+18576 and th-cam.com/video/-q6oIyxu34Y/w-d-xo.html
      Yes, definitely use multiple courses when studying. But in my opinion it's better to use one course at a time so that I can focus much better on each course.

      @@darkerhippo5852 You're welcomemy friend. As of right now I am using an application called Busuu

    Funny thing: my Pimsleur Japanese account was glitched, (I have purchased the monthly subscription) and all it showed was one image for every lesson. (u1 lesson 6 image) After canceling and re-ordering the subscription I got all images back and all games back. (I was so happy)
    I would say that I’m on Unit 2 lesson 23.

    • @glasslicker2829
      @glasslicker2829 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Azzam: I believe this app is miles ahead of apps like duolingo (in terms of learning how to speak) but it is not best used for learning the writing of Japan (ie. Hiragana, Kanji, and Katakana) Other thing is that you are right, about how Pimsleur doesn’t help very much on (Grammar mer) differing/ or giving explanations to some terms like, (ga, de, etc...)

    • @azzamfs
      @azzamfs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glasslicker2829 I understand. Yes, sometimes the Pimsleur guy doesn't clarify the use on those words. But since you're still in Unit 2, I suggest you to just go on. It will be explained clearly in the following units (if I'm not mistaken, it's Level 4)

    What is your opinion about listen two lesson per day?

    • @azzamfs
      @azzamfs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the late reply! Yes, I did that in some days, where if I feel like one lesson is easy to grasp, I will proceed with the next lesson on the same day.
      However, most of the time I stick with one lesson per day. I think that is the best practice.

    • @NomadFlow
      @NomadFlow 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The program specifically instructs you to not do two lessons per day. You can repeat the one lesson for that day as many times as you want but they tell you to not do two lessons a day. This is by design and if anyone tells you to do more than two lessons a day they are giving you bad advice. Do not listen to them. Follow the instructions from the Pimsleur program itself.

      I completed the Pimsleur Mandarin course, I can't say I now speak Mandarin, but people think I speak much more than I do and what I do say apparently my pronounciation is very clear. I think you need some supplementary learning materials.
      On the other hand my Malay is much more fluent and I don't have to compose sentences in my head before speaking, it comes naturally. I have never learned it formally, but learned by chatting with Malay friends. I must formally learn to speak Malay.
      I know some one will reply and say the language is not Malay, but Bahasa Melayu or Bahasa Malaysia, but I am writing in English and in English we don't say Bahasah English.
