Nathan Siriano I know there's three diffs. I should have clarified: say goodbye to ALL of your diffs. The fact that it's an STi doesn't change the fact that this kind of abuse destroys diffs. You can go back to your Ken Block videos now.
I can attest to this. I had an 05 wrx and my rear diff failed and cost me $1000 to rebuild. So did the gear box. Running gear in these cars is not meant for any more power than stock. All gears are weak.
That’s the problem with these Subie engines. They require more support mods than a lot of other platforms. I still like Subarus, but personally I can’t justify buying one when I get the same kind of power and handling for the same price or less elsewhere. It’s a real bummer they apparently didn’t do any lateral g load testing when designing the engine. If you plan to be drifting or going around a track, you really need a baffled oil pan, and a new oil pickup. Such cool cars so handicapped by engineering flaws. Luckily much of it can be fixed if you do your research before buying the car.

Thats because standard ej series motors even being a 207 dont like the limiter. Crappy oil gallery design causing oiling issues at high rpm. Blah blah blah no more bottom end.
Want an update regarding this car? Sure! Shortly after the video was captured, the engine broke down on me. Partially because it was rebuilt faulty by a previous owner, and partially because I was running too thin oil. Lesson learned.. However, I bought a whole new stock engine with 18k miles on it/3k mil and had it swapped in at the local STI workshop. After the engine swap, it ran beautifully again and I never "abused" it before finally selling it a few days ago. /Previous owner
Heard a story about a guy who owned an Subaru Impreza WRX STI. That guy was racing and he blew 3 engines in the exact same place. He found out after 3 engines that he was taking a curb too fast and the oil would get stuck at one end of the engine. new wrx cant do donuts like this because it has open diffs... as an '18 owner it makes me sad too
Just letting you know I stole this video and I've made undisclosed amounts of money with it. Thanks for posting NURRRRD!!!
lol
When you take 3 scoops of preworkout and find the gym closed
Me: mom can we have baby driver?
Mom: we already have baby driver
The baby driver at home:
Was that tire smoke, or antifreeze? 😆
Its the vape pen
Don't buy a second hand impreza :)))))
2003 bigeye GD stage 2 with 143k, solid with zero problems. It's all about maintenance.
It ws a joke, I drive a 02 Bugeye! I bought the car 2 years ago second hand and it's still rock solid!
The only dead bugeyes are wrecked bugeyes. Cheers, my friend, for keeping yours alive.
Thank you very much, but soon I wanna buy a second bugeye for a swap! And the shell from my car whould be used by a frend who is a rally pilot so.... The car stay alive:)) Thank you again! Cheers.
Mine as 250k and still eating hondas and shit....
Now u know were baby driver trained to drift 😂
am I the only one who automatically thought " Baby Driver" when i saw the thumbnail?
Thank you very much ladies and gentlemen, right now I got to tell you about...
The most fabulous...
Most groovy....
*Bellbottoms*
and THAT ladies and gentlemen is why i DID NOT buy a used subie and went ahead and got a brand new one.i wanted new car smell, not burnt clutch smell.haha
Say goodbye to your differential.
That poor thing :(
Nathan Siriano I know there's three diffs. I should have clarified: say goodbye to ALL of your diffs.
The fact that it's an STi doesn't change the fact that this kind of abuse destroys diffs. You can go back to your Ken Block videos now.
Im pretty sure the tyres would blow long before the diffs. The difference are pretty solid tbh.
Spencer Webb this isn't an evo
that age didnt have fancy diffs
I can attest to this. I had an 05 wrx and my rear diff failed and cost me $1000 to rebuild. So did the gear box. Running gear in these cars is not meant for any more power than stock. All gears are weak.
Thank you, I was looking for a tutorial
In case you didn't know, Subbies only drift counter clockwise.
You'd figure this is what a WRX Sti is built for. Guess not.
Gasket: "am I a joke to you"😂😂
one week later on craigslist: adult owned, never raced, never abused
youtube comment section fu*kboy strikes again lol. edgy. cool. good job bud.
Thx for making this video, i tried to kill my wrx for a long time but now i finally know how to do it!
I was thinking about getting a subaru but decided against, decided to get a 2.3 t5 volvo that now has around 350hp and 450nm torq and didnt cost tons of money 🤔Only some bolt ons and tune.
@@jaskajokunen3716 Volvo gets slept on with some of their stuff
20k FIRM I know what I have, low miles, highway miles, never raced or rallied, oil changed every 2 thousand miles, tires have LOTS of life left, doesn’t need any work, head gaskets done last month, purrs like a kitten
I'm not buying one of those they can't go in a straight line! They're really Smokey too.
Head gaskets also blow because of the terrible design of the coolant channels. Wait for the new sti the EJ25 Is an old engine.
is this a wrx with full sti bodykit or a sti repainted red because this year sti didn't have red as an option
This is a factory made STI. It's a Petter Solberg Edition, which was availible in red in Sweden. Very limited though, as there is only about 5 sold in Sweden.
nuttypeanuts2012 that's not being anal, it's being a car guy.
Yo is that baby driver behind the scenes? 👀😂😂😂😂
Handbaskets we're not harmed during the making of this video.
"Was he slow?"
Bye bye tires it was nice knowing you.....but so worth.
Andrew Giarrizzo ...and bye bye engine
Bearings: *aight ima head out*
Bro dosnt hate the car, he just hates those tires. 10/10
YT recommended this to me in 2024 , nice
Thats because standard ej series motors even being a 207 dont like the limiter. Crappy oil gallery design causing oiling issues at high rpm. Blah blah blah no more bottom end.
Finally someone who knows EJs
Everyone thinks they're referring to the donuts for "how to kill an STI" but they're really referring to the engine being on and driving
so true.... my wrx has a knocking engine, scrubbing tranny, faulty alternator, and a leaking radiator. whats next? *cries*
Legend has it this car was used in baby driver...
Subarus are good for some short pulls on the street but other than that you risk breaking it. I still love them tho
Это просто песня, звук греющий уши. Красиво отжег.
The "Why don't you get a used Subaru?" Starter Pack.
This video made me want to buy a blobeye Subaru so bad lol
Heard a story about a guy who owned an Subaru Impreza WRX STI. That guy was racing and he blew 3 engines in the exact same place.
He found out after 3 engines that he was taking a curb too fast and the oil would get stuck at one end of the engine.
Basically, he was starving the engine for some seconds but it was enough to blow it.
Same thing happened here, it's not about the redlining, it's about the centrifugal force.
you'd think after the first engine he would have gotten the upgraded oil pan that prevents that from happening.
Thanks for this tutorial, worked like a charm
nobody :
the subaru : *ight ima head out*
Still an epic video as of 2019🔥
Title should have been “how to properly use a WRX” lol
POV: TH-cam recommends you this video 8 years later
good to know that i can do a max of 5 circles/donuts before the engine explodes
