Ninja bro you have a very good tech to showing the young and upcoming concretes how to screed. For many years seeing concretes rolling the screed slightly and they view it as flat but the chopper tells the truth when the concrete is dry , I take my hat of to . Cheers jay
Hay mate, started watching your stuff about 2 weeks ago, I’m learning the building trades, (training as a builder) Mate, your videos are awesome! To the point where I’ve gone out, bought a mag, trowel, gumboots, a screed and a conc placer (rake) and have been advertising to crews in vic to take me on as a volunteer hand on the weekend, I’ve even boxed up a path at home just so I have an excuse to do some creteing! Hahahaha, all I wanna do is learn more about this aspect of a build, I haven’t had too much to do with actually placing concrete, but your videos have taught me heaps and I thank you for that, any way brother keep it real, and thanks again!
Josh Brannelly thanks brother I’m glad I have inspired you to buy some gumboots . I’m sure when you have a go at concreting you will do an awesome job . Good luck in the building trade mate 👍
i love how you boys seal the mud with the screed board makes it so much easier with the bull float. most people here in the states do the rip and kick method. i hate it. me personally i jigsaw screed whi ch is more similar towards yalls method
I use a Marshalltown power screed here in Seattle. 1 guy with a power screed and 2 good rake guys could pour that whole job with ease. Smoking good weed the whole time.🤝🏻Concrete Lives Matter ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻✌🏻
nonya buisness ha ha I like your style bro . Always a good time here to bro 🤘 why do you think I’m always so Crewse 😜 . If I ever come to Seattle i’ll make sure to give you a message 👍
Concrete ninja 4 sure. I will show you our easy way.🤪✌🏻 My company is Epic Concrete Designs llc. I also use a thing called a rattle stick get one rattlestick.net there awesome.
Yet another great vid mate! I seen it a while ago and it just popped up again. Pure finesse once again. I’m not a fan of Ox though. I bought one of their 4.2s and it had a good 10mm arch in it. It sucks that Masterfinish doesn’t do them anymore. Keep the awesome videos coming! Throughout my 14 years of doing it, you’re the only one that really taught me anything. And I’ve never even met you. 😂
Awesome explanation, ninja contemplating whether to screed 12sqm out the back or get a finisher? Only screeded sand for paving not sure bout concrete though
Hey Demetrius, Who's concrete do you find the best around your area. We always use holcim as we have found boral and Hanson's concrete to be really sticky and hard to close up
is it possible for a mix to be too strong? Like too much cement if that makes sense? Appreciate the videos bro have learnt a LOT. keep them coming please.
cammy470 thanks bro what’s more videos next week . When I work I have no control over the mixes or the way set up . I just come to screed and finish most days : The stronger the better . 👍
Concrete works a lot more easily, when the slump numbers are high. That looks like 6 inch slump or higher. Our specifications require 2 inch slump, which is much stronger after a 28 day cure. I prefer to spend more time working stiff concrete and give the customer a better, longer lasting product.
You clearly haven’t explored different mix designs…water reducer can make it a 6 and be just as strong, or stronger than a 2 depending on your mix design.
@@loganconnally4361 Logan, I have used everything from latex modifiers, to water reducers, to accelerators and retarders. I only said that it appeared to be a 6 inch slump. But you are correct to say that it makes a big difference on how you got to that slump or appearance of slump. To pass a slump cone test or air entrainment test, the mix must be tested prior to adding any modifiers.
HI Concrete NInjaaaaaahhh, have you got any footage of finishing a garage door recess in any of your videos, something I havent seen before, cheers brotha
That would be cool, big question I know but for now any chance you recall what video contains even a small portion of that part, I have watched a few but I know there is heaps I haven't too. Otherwise, I will keep my eyes open for any upcoming videos, subscribed the other week to keep watching all the good stuff, cheers
Shaun Jurman i’m not sure which ones it would be a house slab if it is in one . But I’ll deathly make one I’ve been meaning to make one anyway 👍 . Thanks for subscribing mate 👊
Totally cool mate, yeah makes sense, I will just keep the notifications for any new video so I dont miss it and any other cool stuff. I noticed a pour you guys were doing real early in the centre of town, and it was dark for at least a few hours. Was wondering is it preferable for finishers to avoid the heat were possible because it makes life a lil easier, for any number of reasons. Thinking that winter time is probably preferable to pour, but understand such comments are really general but thought to see your thoughts Cheers
Shaun Jurman That day we poured concrete really early in the centre of town was to beat the traffic . But if you are going to do a big pool that earlier the better the quicker you can get it in when it’s nice and cool the better it will be for everyone . 👊 question bro don’t hesitate in asking it’s all good 👍
does the helicopter close the surface off after the water has dried off? what happens if you close it off to quick? sorry if i've got the terminology wrong
Mike Adamson most of the time when you have plastic on the bottom the water will rise to the top and it won’t start drying until the water comes up to the top and dries off . Sometimes when you have no plastic can go really hard on the bottom because the dirt is drying up really quick . I hope that answers some questions 👍
yeah i understand that you want the concrete to dry evenly otherwise it'll either go hard on the top (windy days) or bottom (dry ground) and be green in the middle then as the middle dries out the energy needs to go somewhere and thats what causes cracks. i was briefly told about closing off concrete where you need to wait until its firm enough to walk on without leaving an imprint and then close it off with steel trowels or the helicopter? I was wondering if i had that right??
Mike Adamson no sorry that is wrong you want to close it up as soon as possible so when it goes hard it will be a lot is here to finish . If you go back and watch a few of the other videos you will say how we finish some of the slabs . 👍
littlegen22 hey buddy I work for nobody but I work for everybody . They call me a concrete slut ha ha . I work for about 15 different concrete crews . Who ever rings me up and books me in first gets me . Everyone just employs me to screed the concrete and finish . But today all I had to do was screed 👌. Thanks for the comment bro

nonya buisness I have seen the rattle stick . It’s good for people that don’t know how to screed . 👍 😜
Concrete ninja have you ever seen a vibrtory power screed?
Concrete ninja I also have screeds similar to yours except mine have levels built in to check for slope while your screeding .

Great job! From the U.S.
J G thanks 🤙🏻
You're right about if its wet it just move around and weak the strength of the mix... too much Aqua = crack concrete..
MrTomcat124 👌👍
Depends if they put water reducer in it or not…I guarantee they do in Australia where it’s hot as fuck.
I'm about to start making videos to show how I pour too much with too little help. keep the videos coming
Bishop Concrete Services LLC Sounds good bro make sure to give me a message when you post one love to see what you guys do . 👍
Like to try one of those screeds one of these days 👍👍
Greg Brown I think you will like it 👍

Concrete ninja can I come work for you? I'm hell on the screed board
Where can i buy a straight edge that long?
we done this one where the bloke got me to rake it pretty flat then he ran the bullfloat over it. i thought fark.
BaberJacks 🤣😱😜
Having an eye for detail i noticed your labourer didn't clean the black plastic end of the screed properly. 5 outta 10 for him 😊
fuck I need a screed like that. I use 2x4 or my 16 feet aluminum. I'm in USA
Bishop Concrete Services LLC i’m sure if you had one like me you would love it once you learn how to use it . it’s pretty easy 👍
Do you cut with front or back end of screed? Looks like the back to me and maybe a rounded edge to float with the front
HI Concrete NInjaaaaaahhh, have you got any footage of finishing a garage door recess in any of your videos, something I havent seen before, cheers brotha

Concrete ninja good- beautiful job from Down Under, keep up the good work,👍👍👍👍🤙
I'll have a screet off with anyone in the world. One man one 2×4 lets go!!!!!
Please tell me what the stiffness of the concrete mix, slump?
curious as to the dimensions of that screed, is it square? 2 inches x 2 inches or 10cm x 10cm
Giuseppe Sarcona hi mate it is in centimetres
ok, thanks, i was curious to know what the dimensions were
Giuseppe Sarcona hi mate actually sorry it is 5cm x 4cm . It is taller than it is wider . I hope that helps .
I thought screeds were stainless, and mags were magnesium? 🤔
Ninja where can I buy those screeds you’re using?
Luke Nilles www.masterfinish.com
Do They Just Eye Ball It? No grade Stakes?
Adam Robles no there is height pins
@@concreteninja do you have a video of how the height pins work?
mate whats the guts you seem to have you own placing team and you also work for other placing crews?

i like your effort but when you strick and screed i see your bad workmanship.
mitch yelvington thanks mate 👍
Which brand of these rod offs do you like best?? Also do you get the “level” ones? Or is that not necessary?
