I will need to rethink using the conversion kit..you make a good point. I made the decision to go with the red dot right away and I am loving it. Thankyou for the offer and I will mull it over although I am sure you will have no problem selling the conv kit. Again nice to have you back and looking forward to future videos.
@Richard Bosnell I swear, once you start shooting optics, especially with aging eyes that need all the help they can get; in my case can’t see far distance, can’t see close up and left eye dominant and it was an ongoing battle with finding the right glasses. The dot eliminated all of that, as you probably know, right? Save yourself the almost cost of a new fully equipped handgun and don’t waste your time or money with the conversion kit. When I was still on irons it was fun to plink with the Shadow 2 conversion on occasion, but again, once I started shooting optics the kits haven’t left the house. I have a conversion for the P-09 as well, and same thing. Just not keen on irons anymore. I like to compete and the optic helps me to compete at my best level. How are you liking that Holosun of yours? Are they making adapter plates for it now? When I first got my optic readies, it wa a choice between Leupold, Vortex, Doctor and Trijicon. Did you have a gunsmith modify an adapter plate for you? It sounds like you have many years of experience under your belt and I admire that!
So I hit the send button by mistake. One correction here Iam a new shooter. I decided to get into the sport after doing quite a bit of research during COVID lockdown and luckily stumbling across your channel on Utube. Ido have some exposure to firearms but the handgun is new to me but getting a lot of support from the members and staff at the range. Look forward to chatting with you in the future. Cheers@@CZFanGrrl
@@richardbosnell9421 My mistake, must have misread your comment. Let me rephrase; admiration for you getting into the shooting sports during these tenuous times then! So happy to have another fellow British Columbian on board. I’ve found the shooting community to be super inclusive, welcoming and supportive. Are you thinking of getting into competition shooting like IPSC. The Shadow will be a tad too heavy for IDPA, Steel Challenge which is my favorite is awesome with the Shadow 2 Optic Ready. I think there are actually sanctioned Steel Challenge matches being held in the Lower Mainland as well, which is awesome. Reliable Gun is a great store. I sold a Sig through them (My second gun purchased and first one I got rid of on consignment) and they have lots of cool extras. I think they’re one of the few places that sell Hornady One Shot. Nice chatting with you @Richard Bosnell and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Happy to help!
I bought the cz at Reliable Guns in Vancouver. No problem with the adapter plate they had one in house. I had some help from our IDPA instructor at the range and handgun feels like it is really dialed in. I have changed out the recoil and hammer springs and WOW what a deference that made.
@Richard Bosnell. It sounds like you are well on your way! Changing out the recoil and hammer springs already make a world of difference. I recently installed a flat trigger on one of my S2’s and I’m REALLY liking it. Is your IDPA instructor letting you shoot IDPA with your Shadow? I was shooting IDPA for a bit but ended up leaving it because our IDPA club director wouldn’t let people shoot a Shadow 2, so I left IDPA and started up the Steel group.
I have not been told I could not shoot IDPA with the Shadow but will be definitely be checking with the Instructor at our range on that. I just signed up for a handgun course that is an introduction to IDPA and will be using the rules for that division including movement and fire. Course is end of 3rd week in June.
@Richard Bosnell Here are the latest IDPA rule book, from 2017. Nothing has changed. www.idpa.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/IDPA-Rulebook-2017.pdf. IDPA is predominantly USA based, which is why it’s not very common in Canada, there is no IDPA BC, as there is like IPSC BC. The stages are all based on real life scenarios and on the premise that you are carrying a firearm on you; which we can’t in Canada. IDPA also uses humanoid looking targets as opposed to the polygonal shape targets of IPSC. Scoring is different as well. The weight limit of 43oz generally rules out the Shadow 2, it also might not fit inside the handgun box. IDPA pistols are usually of the combat Tupperware persuasion as well. Meaning lightweight and something you could “carry” all day. If your instructor allows the Shadow 2 I would love to hear about that because there are a few shooters up here that would love to be able to run their Shadow 2 (even without the optic) in IDPA. Your instructor would be very progressive, LOL! If you can’t shoot IDPA with it, you can always shoot IPSC. There is also a Black Badge course that is offered that teaches you how to how to shoot the sport. It’s very well organized and if you can make it out to Abbotsford, Rob Engh (a grand master IPSC shooting friend of mine) holds weekly practices. activeshooter.ca/. The great thing about shooting sports is there are people of all ages doing it and capable of doing it well if they put the time and practice into it. Please do let me know the verdict on your Shadow 2 and the IDPA course!
Nice to see you back! Pulled the plug and bought a optic ready CZ shadow2 in April and had a local gunsmith mount a Holosun 507 k-V2 on it. New shooter here, 70 plus years so decided to go right to the red dot and NO regrets. I was getting concerned you decided to drop out of the media . I must have watched everyone of your video’s 8-10 times. Any advice where I might find a 22L conversion kit for the Shadow2.?
@Richard Bosnell Congrats on your purchase! I think you’re really going to enjoy it, especially with an optic on it. It takes some getting used to, but once you do, it’s a game changer. I have a .22 conversion kit for the Shadow 2 which I used initially, but since getting the optic ready, I just haven’t had any interest in shooting open sights anymore. Are you in Canada or the USA. If you’re in Canada I’ll sell you mine with 5 mags! Thank you as well for sticking with the channel! It’s been a tough break with Covid and all these problems the Trudeau government is causing for law abiding firearm owners, it can really suck the wind out of a person’s enthusiasm. But it’s amazing how a bit of good weather and loosening of restrictions where one is able to go out and shoot again with others can make a big difference in ones motivation. Enjoy that gun of yours!
@Richard Bosnell. Holy Cow!! Two years! That’s outrageous. But I’ve heard the same for clubs in Ontario as well from people that migrated from Ontario to here. I guess that’s one of the benefits of small town life as opposed to larger centres. In the meantime just get out as much as you can. If you happen to not be able to shoot the Shadow 2 for IDPA and are looking for optic ready IDPA legal guns, there are a few options out there, I had a Sig P320 X5 something or other, steer clear of that, very poor ergonomics. Walther makes the PPQ, lots of people like it. It also comes in a Tungsten infused model to make it seem like a steel gun. I know a sponsored Walther shooter and when he put on a training session a couple years ago, he was NOT shooting his Tungsten model but the plain Jane PPQ. So I guess that’s something to keep in mind and it depends on how much money additional money you want to spend. Glock also makes an optic ready and that’s a relatively inexpensive way to go. Just keep in mind that you are forever spoiled by that Shadow 2 and nothing is ever going to compare to it. It’s a curse. LOL.
@@CZFanGrrl l attended a handgun orientation course a few weeks ago there were 6 People there a few Glocks a SW and Sig . After asking permission I was able to handle a few of the handguns and I honestly would not trade my CZS2 for any of them. Without fail everyone there Including the instructor preferred my CZ. I spent almost a year reviewing various options and the CZ kept coming out on top,no regrets.
@Richard Bosnell I know right!??? I tell everyone, pick up and shoot a Shadow 2 and you’re a goner, no other gun is going to cut it after that. I’ve had people push Walthers, Tanfoglios and STI’s into my hand and I’m like…..whatever. People seem convinced that the Tanfo’s (which are just a knock off of the original CZ75, the original Wonder 9) are just as good if not better. Again, I’m like…..whatever. I’m convinced those people are in a massive state of denial and need to convince themselves that their gun is equal to the Shadow 2. Poor sad nonCZ Shadow 2 gun owners. I knew someone that was shooting the Shadow 2 and very competently at that, climbing the ranks in IPSC and he figured he needed another gun to get him beyond his ciurrent skill level so he bought an STI for about $6k. He went back to the Shadow 2. LOL! Now THAT was a hard lesson learned. Anyways, I’m glad you’re enjoying your handgun, it’s going to be very good to you in the long run and they are solidly built.
Great to see you back shooting Sister #CZLIFE
@ThecrazyScotsman Thanks bro! Good to be back at it. Been a crazy 7 months.
Sooooooo happy you’re back. 🤩🤩🤩
@Diego Conde. Hola mi Amigo! Com esta???! 😃😃😃😃. Very happy to be back shooting and gunsmithing again! I hope you and your family are well!
Good shooting. Nice to see you back at the range.
